The number of elderly people worldwide is rigidly increasing due to decrease in birth rates and innovations implemented in medical field. Due to the increase in elderly people population diseases like dementia are also being increased year by year. Having done many kinds of research it is found that there is no permanent treatment for diseases like dementia, even if those patients come in public they look similar to normal people, however, people with dementia have abnormal behaviors like loss of patience, aggression, lack of thinking which in turn causes burden to family members and caretakers. In order to address this issues, this paper demonstrates a follow-up and rescue program for the elderly. The system includes a GPS receiver, a GSM module and a long-distance RF transmitter and receiver, real-time location. Families and care takers can obtain real-time information and history of patient location through GPS to avoid loss of elderly patients. With the help of this system, the number of losing patients will be decreased and the pressure on the caretakers and family people will be cut down to some extent.

Background: The number of elderly people is growing, and it becomes a challenge for the families and governments regard their health. They are facing declines in their health and missing some of the quality of life that is provided to them. They are unable to control their self. They are vulnerable to fall and get in dangerous or restricted area. Aim: This study aims at conducing an experiment using Real-Time Location System (RTLS) via ZigBee technology in order to track the elderly person at his/her home. Objectives: To track the old age people and provide them proper care and support whenever they are in challenging times. Method: RTLS is a system that offers a real-time tracking and positioning of people or objects. Results: The results showed that the ZigBee technology provides valuable insights to determine the location of an elderly person at home and sends an alert when a person gets in a restricted area. Conclusion: ZigBee have contributed to be one of the best of its kind protocol that can help to track and mange old aged people at house.

ABSTRACT Objective: to evaluate, in emergency hospital service and at home, the functional independence of elderly people who fell. Method: longitudinal study with 151 elderly. Functional Independence Measure (FIM) was used. Statistical tests were performed with univariate and bivariate analysis. Results: mean of total FIM value in the hospital was 70.4; and at home 84.3 (p <0.001). Independence was lower in the motor domain, in “self-care”, “mobility” and “locomotion” dimensions, in the two evaluations (p <0.001). Dependence reduced from 97.3% elderly in the hospital to 82.8% at home (p <0.001). There was a negative correlation between total FIM and age, number of medications, number of diseases and hospitalization time in both evaluations. Femoral and hip fractures were associated with lower total FIM values (p <0.001). Conclusion: the elderly had less independence in the hospital compared to at home, with greater impairment in the motor domain and “self-care”, “mobility” and “locomotion” dimensions, in the two moments evaluated.

Introduction: Little information is available on the outcomes of R-CHOP (rituximab with cyclophosphamide, doxorubicin, vincristine and prednisone) and R-CVP (rituximab with cyclophosphamide, vincristine and prednisone) in treatment of the elderly patients with non-Hodgkin lymphoma (NHL), especially in Vietnam. Material and methods: All patients were newly diagnosed with CD20-positive non-Hodgkin lymphoma (NHL) at Blood Transfusion and Hematology Hospital, Ho Chi Minh city (BTH) between 01/2013 and 01/2018 who were age 60 years or older at diagnosis. A retrospective analysis of these patients was perfomed. Results: Twenty-one Vietnamese patients (6 males and 15 females) were identified and the median age was 68.9 (range 60-80). Most of patients have comorbidities and intermediate-risk. The most common sign was lymphadenopathy (over 95%). The proportion of diffuse large B cell lymphoma (DLBCL) was highest (71%). The percentage of patients reaching complete response (CR) after six cycle of chemotherapy was 76.2%. The median follow-up was 26 months, event-free survival (EFS) was 60% and overall survival (OS) was 75%. Adverse effects of rituximab were unremarkable, treatment-related mortality accounted for less than 10%. There was no difference in drug toxicity between two regimens. Conclusions: R-CHOP, R-CVP yielded a good result and acceptable toxicity in treatment of elderly patients with non-Hodgkin lymphoma. In patients with known cardiac history, omission of anthracyclines is reasonable and R-CVP provides a competitive complete response rate.

Probity audit is an independence assessment activity to ensure the goods/services procurement processes have been implemented consistently appropriate with the principle of upholding integrity, uprightness, honesty and fulfill certain occur legislation aimed for improving the accountability for the use of public sector fund. Probity audit is done in real time simultaneously with the goods/services procurement process. This study aims to evaluate the suitability of the implementation of probity audit conducted by BPKP Headquarter as agency that initiated the implementation of probity audit in Indonesia compared with the Probity audit Guidelines for Procurement of Goods/Services as criteria. The results of this study indicate that the implementation of probity audit conducted by BPKP Headquarter has been implemented adequately, but there are activities that do not fit the criteria, especially in the activities of the determination of the scope of the audit, the preparation of working papers and the follow-up monitoring of the audit results.

Background: Laparoscopic Incisional and Ventral Hernia Repair (LIVHR) is a safe and worldwide accepted procedure performed using absorbable tacks. The aim of the study was to evaluate recurrence rate in a long term follow-up and whether the results of laparoscopic IVH repair in the elderly (≥65 years old) are different with respect to results obtained in younger patients. Methods: One hundred and twenty-nine consecutive patients (74 women and 55 men, median age 67 years, range = 30-87 years) with ventral (N = 42, 32.5%) or post incisional (N = 87, 67.5%) hernia were enrolled in the study. Patients were divided into two groups according to their age: group A (N = 55, 42.6%) aged <65 years and group B (N = 74, 57.4%) aged ≥65 years. Results: The mean operative time was not significantly different between groups (66.7 ± 37 vs. 74 ± 48.4 min, p = 0.4). To the end of 2016, seven recurrences had occurred (group A = 3, group B = 4, p = 1). Complications occurred in 8 (16%) patients in group A and 21 (28.3%) patients in group B. Conclusion: In conclusion, our results confirm that the use of absorbable tacks does not increase recurrence frequency and laparoscopic incisional and ventral repair is a safety procedure also in elderly patients.
