Abstract In Poland, rabbit is a highly valued animal, due to dietetic and flavour values of its meat, but above all, rabbits tend to be commonly used laboratory animals. The aim of the study was developing standards for counts of B-cells with CD19+ receptor, T-cells with CD5+ receptor, and their subpopulations, namely T-cells with CD4+, CD8+ and CD25+ receptor in the peripheral blood of mixed-breed Polish rabbits with addition of blood of meet breeds, including the assessment of the impact of four seasons of the year and animal sex on the values of the immunological parameters determined. The results showed that the counts of B- and T-cells and their subpopulations in peripheral blood remain within the following ranges: for CD19+ B-cells: 1.05 - 3.05%, for CD5+ T-cells: 34.00 - 43.07%, CD4+ T-cells: 23.52 - 33.23%, CD8+ T-cells: 12.55 - 17.30%, whereas for CD25+ T-cells: 0.72 - 2.81%. As it comes to the season of the year, it was observed that it principally affects the values of CD25+ T-cells, while in the case of rabbit sex, more changes were found in females.

Introduction. Studies indicate the high pathogenetic significance of the immune component in the development of atherosclerosis. The aim of the study is a comparative assessment of immunological parameters in workers of petrochemical production with varying degrees of imbalance in lipid metabolism and the development of the atherosclerotic process. Materials and methods. Men working at an oil production enterprise in the Perm Region were examined. The observation group consisted of oil production operators with a diagnosis of atherosclerosis, the comparison group - with dyslipidemia syndrome. To determine the parameters of lipid metabolism, the results of a biochemical blood test were used. CD-immunogram parameters were identified by flow cytometry. Specific antibodies to benzene were determined by the allergosorbent method. Results. The results of a comparative study of fat metabolism confirmed violations of the physiological ratio of lipids in the blood of oil production workers, which were expressed in a significant imbalance in the levels of lipidogram. There was an increased level of specific IgG antibodies to benzene in the observation group in relation to the comparison group. An imbalance of cellular immunity was found, which was characterized by signs of indicators activation of cellular differentiation clusters. Conclusions. Studies of immune system compartments demonstrate excessive activation of cellular and humoral immunity in oil production workers under the influence of a combination of harmful production factors. The simultaneously formed imbalance of lipid metabolism is associated with various degrees of clinical manifestation of atherosclerotic disorders, with the influence of harmful production factors, aggressiveness of cellular and humoral immunity, and smoking.

Objective: To evaluate the effect of cefepime on hematological changes, immunological disorders and hepatic oxidative damage in rats experimentally infected with E.coli ATCC 25922. Design: Randomized controlled experimental study. Animals: Thirty-two adult male albino rats weighting150-200 g. Procedures: Rats used for this study were randomly assigned into 4 equal groups: the control one, E.coli infected group (1×108CFU/I/P/once), the cefepime treated group (45 mg/kg bw/I/M/day) for 5 days and the E.coli infected group that treated with cefepime 24h after bacterial inoculation as previously described. Hematological and immunological parameters, liver function biomarkers and hepatic oxidative stress and antioxidant markers were determined. Results: Our result revealed that E.coli infection induced a significant elevation in the erythrocytes count, hemoglobin concentration, PCV% and total leukocytic count (TLC) (P < 0.05). In the same respect, liver function biomarkers, serum glucose, total cholesterol, and triglyceride levels as well hepatic malondialdehyde (MDA), nitric oxide (NO), TNF-α, IL-10, and lysozyme activity were significantly increased compared to the control rats (P < 0.05). In contrast, hepatic reduced glutathione (GSH), superoxide dismutase (SOD) and catalase (CAT) were decreased significantly (P < 0.05). Cefepime treatment in E.coli + CFPM group reduced the elevated eythrogram, TLC and liver function biomarkers. Cefepime also ameliorated the oxidative damage and inflammatory response induced by E.coli infection. Conclusion and clinical relevance: Cefepime is safe when administered in a fixed-dose and possess antioxidant that contributes to improve efficacy against adverse effect induced by E.coli ATCC 25922 infection.

Abstract This study explored the effects of a sublethal 96-h dehydroabietic acid (DHAA) exposure on aspects of the immune system of juvenile coho salmon under varying temperature conditions. Coho were exposed to DHAA concentrations below the determined LC50 value of 0.94 mg/L (95% confidence limits of 0.81 to 1.24 mg/L) for 96 h at either their acclimation temperature (8 or 18°C), or during an acute warm-shock (8 to 18°C) or cold-shock (18 to 8°C). Acclimation temperature alone significantly affected hematocrit (Hct), neutrophil respiratory burst activity (RBA) and leucocyte proportions. With temperature-shock, leucocrit (Lct), RBA and leucocyte proportions were altered. All parameters were affected by DHAA exposure, but not always in a dose-dependent manner. Across groups, DHAA caused Hct, lysozyme, thrombocyte, neutrophil and monocyte proportions to increase, and Lct, RBA and lymphocyte proportions to decrease. DHAA-temperature interactions resulted in the exacerbation of DHAA-induced effects. Exposure temperature had the most significant effect on the susceptibility of coho to Aeromonas salmonicida; fish were more susceptible at cold temperatures and when subjected to a temperature-shock compared to their respective controls. DHAA exposure modulated the response of temperature-shocked fish to this pathogen.
