Research on non-native pronoun resolution has predominantly been concerned with (i) ‘ordinary’ 3rd person pronouns/anaphors like En. "he", "she", "they" or "himself", "herself", "themselves", (ii) language pairs involving English as the native (L1) or the foreign (L2) language, and (iii) the role that binding constraints and syntactic structure in general play in L2 versus L1 processing. The present paper – a follow-up study to Pitz et al. (2017) – deviates from this trend in all three respects: We investigate how L1-Norwegian learners of L2-German interpret the two German possessive pronouns/determiners "sein" (≈ his) and "ihr" (≈ her or their), arguing that lexical divergence between the possessive systems, and in particular the formal similarity between binding-neutral L2-German "sein" and the L1-Norwegian reflexive possessive "sin", may enhance or interfere with L2 comprehension, depending on the structural conditions. In Section 2 we briefly present the two possessive systems. Section 3 summarizes relevant research on pronoun resolution, with a special view to possessives. Sections 4–6 present a pilot study on L1-Norwegian learners’ grammaticality judgments of "sein" and "ihr" in simple sentences (Sect. 5) and a forced-choice resolution experiment involving a group of L1-Norwegian learners with a background two or three years’ teaching of L2-German at high-school level and a control group of native speakers of German (Sect. 6). The final Section 7 provides a summary and concluding discussion of our findings.

The social norms media approach is an intervention designed to change college students’ drinking behavior by correcting false perceptions through normative feedback. The present study is a preliminary assessment of a social norms intervention’s attempt to decrease drinking amounts in students making the transition to university life. Data were collected on three groups of first-year students: (a) spring 1999 for baseline freshmen drinking norms, (b) summer 1999 to assess incoming freshmen drinking patterns, and (c) spring 2000 as a follow-up to assess effectiveness of the intervention for freshmen who entered fall 1999. Results indicated that the majority of freshmen students consistently drank in a moderate range (0–5 drinks), yet consistently overestimated their peers’ drinking levels. Incoming freshmen had significantly higher levels of drinking and greater misperceptions than baseline university freshmen. Results suggest the drinking rates significantly decreased for incoming freshmen from summer 1999 compared to spring 2000 follow-up norms. Also, the results suggest that normative feedback on college students’ drinking may be needed at the high school level to correct faulty perceptions prior to entering a university environment.

Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk menggambarkan pencapaian dan peningkatan kemampuan berpikir kreatif matematik (KBKM) dan kemandirian belajar peserta didik melalui implementasi Pendekatan Matematika Realistik (PMR). Populasi penelitian ini adalah peserta didik SMP Negeri di Kota Tasikmalaya. Sampel penelitian adalah peserta didik kelas VIII yang mewakili satu sekolah level tinggi dan satu sekolah level sedang. Penelitian ini merupakan penelitian kuasi eksperimen dengan desain kelompok kontrol pretes-postes. Instrumen yang digunakan yaitu tes KBKM, skala kemandirian belajar peserta didik, dan lembar observasi. Analisis data menggunakan uji Kruskal Wallis. Dari hasil penelitian disimpulkan: 1) Pencapaian dan peningkatan KBKM kelompok PMR lebih baik dari kelompok PK; dan 2) Pencapaian dan peningkatan kemandirian belajar kelompok PMR lebih baik dari kelompok PK.The purposes of this study are to describe the enhancement and the achievement of students’ Mathematical Creative Thinking Skills (MCTS) and Self Regulated Learning (SRL) through implementation of Realistic Mathematics Education (RME) and Conventional Learning (CL). The population of this study were Junior High School students in Tasikmalaya City. The sample of this study were eighth grade students representing the high school level and the medium school level. This research is a quasi-experimental design with pretest-posttest control group. The instrument used is a test MCTS, scale independence of learners, and the observation sheet. Analysis of data using Kruskal Wallis test. The final conclusion: 1) Achievement and improvement of MCTS RME group is better than CL group; and 2) Achievement and improvement of Self Regulated Learning (SRL) RME group is better than CL group.

This research sought to explore how teaching utilizing a marine science-related board game affected students’ motivation, interest, and achievement in marine science learning at the high school level. The research utilized an experimental design with pre-test and post-test measurements and a classroom setting, and included an experimental group containing 25 students and a control group containing 26 students. The experiment was carried out over the course of 12 lessons, with various questionnaires, including a marine science learning motivation (MSLM) inventory, a marine science learning interest (MSLI) inventory, and a marine science learning achievement (MSLA) inventory, being used as the measurement instruments. The research analysed the students’ scores on these inventories using one-way analysis of ANCOVA. The main results of this research were as follows: 1) with regard to the MSLM inventory, the ‘relevance’, ‘confidence’, and ‘total score’ were significantly different between the two groups; 2) with regard to the MSLI inventory, the ‘cognitions regarding marine science’ were significantly different between the two groups; and 3) with regard to the MSLA, all of the dimensions including ‘memory’, ‘understanding’, ‘high-level thinking’, and ‘total score’ were significantly different between the two groups. A 5-yr. follow-up study was conducted of the creativity exhibited by 800 creative and control students previously identified at the high school level. The findings indicate that creative youth continue to report more creative achievements than their peers but only in those specialty fields (arts or sciences) in which they had previously distinguished themselves. The data lend support for the predictive validity of the instrument previously developed with these Ss, the Biographical Inventory Creativity.

The aim of this study is to search core exercise’s affect which is done regulary with female students for 8 weeks on students’ balance programs. 20 volunteer female participants who were students of Osman Nuri Yalman High school (ten of them were experimental group and ten of them were control group) were included in the study. In the survey, experimental method with pretest-posttest desing was used. Core exercise was applied on experimental group three days a week during 8 weeks on the other hand no exercise was done with control group. SPSS (Ver.20) packet program was used while analyzing data statistically. Before the analysis, normality distribution was determined by being used skewness-kurtosis and hitogram and significance level was controlled according to the greenhouse-geisser and two-way repeated measures of anova values. According to the results of the survey, significant difference was found between two groups’ pre-test–post-test balance values (F(2.69, 48.36) = 42.25, p < .05). The post-test balance values of the group in 8 directions increased significantly. When the pos-test balance values between the two groups were compared, the post- test balance values of the experimantal group participants were significantly higher than the control group participants (F(1.18) = 6.20, p < .05). Consequently; it can be said that core training applied to the high school level female students three days a week for 8 weeks can have a positive effect on balance performance.

The purpose of this study was to explore the students’ problem solving skill to solve problem in Archimedes principle on the senior high school level. The method of this study was mixed method with explanatory follow up explanation design. The subject of this study was 30 students of k-11 in SMAN 9 Malang. The kuantitative data was collected through survey by 2 essay questions with reliability cronbah alpha 0,70. The qualitative data was collected through interview after analyze student answare. The aim of this interview was to follow up the pattern of student answare. The result of this study shown that students’ expert attitude began solve problem through definite problem qualitatively. In addition, the students’ novice attitude refer to not describe a problem qualitatively.

This research aim is to analyze whether metacognitive strategy instruction CALLA affects students’ reading comprehension and reading awareness. This research used a quasi-experimental study in forms of pretest, treatment and post-test. Results showed that the group of experimental students had score significantly higher than the control group students on reading comprehension post-test and also showed significantly higher improvement in metacognitive reading strategy awareness and reading comprehension than control group students. The study recommends CALLA metacognitive strategy instruction to be an effective option for teaching reading comprehension skills at the senior high school level and in the contexts, which share similar characteristics.

This study aims to determine the improvement of students' mathematical critical thinking abilities through problem solving methods. This study was hold at MAN 3 Bireuen (High School Level) in the 2019/2020 school’s year. The research method was a quasi-experimental study design nonrandomized Pre-test Post-test Control Group Design. The population of the study were all students of Class XI MAN 3 Bireuen with purposive sampling technique. The study sample was to 30 students for the experimental class and 28 students for the control class. The skill increasing was calculated using normalized gain. Data were analyzed using the t test. The results showed that students’ critical thinking skills mathematically taught through problem solving methods is better than students mathematical critical thinking skills taught through conventional learning.

Introduction: Kabaddi is one of the most popular games, which makes it our national pride. Kabaddi requires a lot of power, strength, flexibility, agility, speed, breath control and wariness. The game comes under contact sports and hence injuries are common. Muscle Energy Technique (MET) is a form of manual therapy used to relax the muscles via autogenic or reciprocal inhibition and lengthen the muscle, which uses muscle’s own energy in the form of gentle isometric contraction. The purpose of this study is to find out the effectiveness of MET on improving hamstring muscle flexibility, active knee extension (AKE) range, and agility in high school level kabaddi players. Subjects: 30 female amateur kabaddi players Methodology: 30 high school level Kabaddi players were assessed and selected based on the inclusion and exclusion criteria, and assigned into two groups. Group A (experimental n=15) received MET along with conventional exercises and Group B received Conventional flexibility exercises alone for 5 consecutive days. Pre-post and a follow-up measurement of hamstring flexibility, AKE and agility was taken using flexometer, 90-90 test and agility T-test. Results: Statistical analysis was done using paired and unpaired t-test. In paired t-test, the hamstring muscle flexibility improved significantly on day 5, on follow-up day 8 measurement it showed reduction in flexibility but not significant for both groups. The AKE of right and left knee joint has significantly improved on day 5 and there was significant reduction on day 8. Whereas the agility for both groups has significantly improved on day 5 and 8. On unpaired t-test, there is significant difference between both groups for all 3 outcomes. Conclusion: The Muscle energy Technique is effective on improving hamstring muscle flexibility, Active knee extension range and agility in 5 day MET programme. Therefore, concluded that Muscle Energy Technique is effective and can be administered on-field prior to sports events, and thereby improve player’s performance.
