This article is based on the dissertation by the author. It creates a connection between materials research and conservation and heritology. Materials research is a part of multidisciplinary heritology and it has an important role in preserving cultural heritage. If reliable information for the documentation is needed about the materials in an object, on the origin of the object, on the authenticity of the object or on whether any restoration has been carried out previously, analyses that reveal chemical compositions must be performed. On the other hand, the materials research can be focused on examining the ageing properties of materials to find out the chemical and physical changes caused by different environmental conditions. This kind of research benefits the preservation of cultural heritage objects, because results can be applied to both preventive and active conservation. Furthermore, materials research is needed for testing and examining the conservation and restoration methods.

In France, the classic produit du terroir, the local product that with its mix of skill and raw materials embodies the distinctive tie between people and their terroir (soil), is cheese. Thus, when inhabitants of the Argonne say that it “does not even have a cheese”, they imply that it lacks a patrimoine (cultural heritage). On the other hand, they do make passionate claims about 'being Argonnais', conveying a marked recognition of, and attachment to, a named place in relation to which they identify themselves and others. Focusing on this paradox, this article will highlight certain assumptions regarding the definition of cultural heritage found in public policy.

The figure and story of Faustus is part of the European cultural heritage, and as it usually, even inevitably happens with legends, it lives further in the adaptations of later periods and authors . It is mainly linked to Goethe’s name, his figure became well known and immortal in his works. Ever since Goethe, all authors – who respect themselves – in German literature must write a new Faustus, while in other nation’s literatures newer and newer paraphrases were born, which on their turn gave rise to further adaptations, and the scientific, aesthetic etc. literature also has gotten richer. However the canonized, more precisely, classicisized framework of interpretation is not transgressed by any of the newer writers and poets of the past centuries, moreover it is only the form of the legend that is rewritten – naturally with the aim of modernization. All of that as part of the literary heritage. As far as the problem of original sources is concerned: what can be regarded as a source and what is adaptation, which are the works that motivated writers, are just a matter of the preliminary work of the interpretation. On the other hand the problem that within the ancient, mythical tradition there is an original, ancient Faustus legend, does not raise any attention as that is “mere raw material”. The truth is ... that the beginning that has been preliminarily, yet directly definitory for centuries, is that original force that is given in the topic and thus it is difficult to bring it to the surface, preferably independently from the heritage that was built upon it. As far as the time dimension is concerned, we are searching in an undefineable, open past, moreover it is most probable that the legend itself is not entirely original, so to say, but it is the adaptation of a more ancient idea or topic. And by this its symbolism and hidden semantics lose their European characteristics.

<p>The rapid changes in the pattern of atmospheric warming over the Himalayas, along with severe degradation of Himalayan glaciers in recent years suggest the inevitability of accurate source characterization and quantification of the impact of aerosols on the Himalayan atmosphere and snow. In this regard, extensive study of the chemical compositions of aerosols at two distinct regions, Himansh (32.4<sup>ᴼ</sup>N, 77.6<sup>ᴼ</sup>E, ~ 4080 m a.s.l) and Lachung (27.4<sup>ᴼ</sup>N, 88.4<sup>ᴼ</sup>E, ~ 2700 m a.s.l), elucidates distinct signatures of the sources and types of aerosols prevailing over the western and eastern parts of Himalayas. The mass-mixing ratios of water-soluble (Na<sup>+</sup>, NH<sub>4</sub><sup>+</sup>, K<sup>+</sup>, Ca<sup>2+</sup>, Mg<sup>2+</sup>, Cl-, SO<sub>4</sub><sup>2-</sup>, NO<sub>3</sub><sup>-</sup>, MSA<sup>-</sup>, C<sub>2</sub>O<sub>4</sub><sup>2-</sup>), carbonaceous (EC, OC, WSOC) and selected elemental (Al, Fe, Cu, Cr, Ti) species depicted significant abundance of mineral dust aerosols (~ 67%), along with a significant contribution of carbonaceous aerosols (~ 9%) during summer to autumn (August-October) over the western Himalayan site. On the other hand, the eastern Himalayan site is found to be dominant of OC (~ 53% in winter) followed by SO<sub>4</sub><sup>2-</sup> (as high as 37% in spring) and EC (8-12%) during August to February. However, OC/EC and WSOC/OC ratios showed significantly higher values over both the sites (~ 12.5, and 0.56 at Himansh; ~ 5.7 and ~ 0.74 at Lachung) indicating the secondary formation of organic aerosols via chemical aging over both the sites. The enrichment factors estimated from the concentrations of trace elements over the western Himalayan site revealed the influence of anthropogenic source contribution from the regional hot-spots of Indo-Gangetic Plains, in addition to that of west Asia and the Middle East countries. On the other hand, the source apportionment of aerosols (based on positive matrix factorization - PMF model) over the eastern Himalayas demonstrated the biomass-burning aerosols (25.94%), secondary formation of aerosols via chemical aging (15.94%), vehicular and industrial emissions (20.54%), primary emission sources associated with mineral dust sources (22.28%) and aged secondary aerosols (15.31%) as the major sources of aerosols. Due to abundant anthropogenic source impacts at the eastern Himalayan site, the atmospheric forcing is most elevated in winter (13.4 ± 4.4 Wm<sup>-2</sup>), which is more than two times the average values seen at the western Himalayan region during the study period. The heavily polluted eastern part of the IGP is a potential anthropogenic source region contributing to the aerosol loading at the eastern Himalayas. These observations have far-reaching implications in view of the role of aerosols on regional radiative balance and their impact on snow/glacier coverage.</p>

AbstractIn 1750 and 1751 Jan van Gool published two volumes of artists' biographies entitled De Nieuwe Schouburg (Note 2). This sequel to Houbraken's Groote Schouburgh (.Note I) is an important source for Dutch art history of the period around 1700. The author's opinions are not strictly governed by the rules of art theory, nor is he a convinced Classicist. His main aim is to give complete and reliable information on the lives and works of artists. In so doing he cannot refrain from giving personal opinions. These characterize him as a competent art critic, who seems to have had an eye for style and quality. He despises work by contemporaries who still adhere to the Leiden tradition of fijnschilderen (small-scale, highly-finished painting). In his view the composition of a painting is of prime importance in assessing its quality, for it is mostly there that an artist's inventiveness, or lack of it, is revealed. Another aspect of great importance is the expression of emotions in painted figures through their glances, gestures and attitudes. Van Gool praises not only history painters who prove to have abilities in this field, but also painters of genre scenes and portraits. He pays far more attention to a painter's brushwork than his style of drawing, his predilection being for masters with a 'courageous' brush. Relatively little attention is given to colour and light and to the plasticity of painted figures. Van Gool's ideals seem to be summed up in the word natural. The essential qualities of the subjects painted must be made visible in the work of art. A painstaking realism in the Leiden tradition would endanger this ideal as much as a severe Classicism. The observation of reality should not be carried so far that details become more important than totalities, but on the other hand the overall form should not be idealized to such an extent that reality is forgotten.

The purpose of this study is to explore furniture materials and feature in Kinmen of Taiwan. The methods include document analysis , field research and interview. The results indicate that kinmen furniture materials commonly used china-fir and another bamboo, china tree and Taiwan acacia, and in terms of the material properties of wood, Taiwan acacia the highest hardness, but poor drying and processing, the other hand fir, china-fir and bamboo materials, due to easy drying and processing, so it is a higher probability of use. However, the Golden Gate itself does not produce china-fir, wood sources and more from the Chinese mainland shipping from, then ask China to Kinmen master production, or direct purchase ready-made furniture in China.

Names constitute a key component of the cultural heritage of any region. Though geographically, culturally and linguistically apart, Estonia and Zambia share some elements and motivations in naming. Zambia’s British colonial experience and Estonia’s Danish, German, Polish, Swedish and Russian/ Soviet influence in the past made significant changes to personal and place names in both regions. Following independence, both states made strides in the indigenisation of names for promoting local heritage and national identity. Zambia predominantly focused on changing the names of some towns, and of the country (from Northern Rhodesia to Zambia). On the other hand, the Estonian onomastic experience has been more comprehensive – regulating both personal and place names, enacting corresponding laws and maintaining the Institute of the Estonian Language to oversee language and name planning, among other responsibilities. Kokkuvõte. Osward Chanda ja Peeter Päll: Nimekorraldus Sambias ja Eestis: võrdlev analüüs. Artikkel vaatleb Sambia ja Eesti nimesituatsiooni erinevusi ja sarnasusi. Sambia on mitmekeelne maa, ametikeel on inglise; Eesti on ametlikult ükskeelne maa, praktikas käibivad eesti keele kõrval ka vene ja inglise keel. Sambia isikunimedes on perekonnanimed valdavalt kohalikku päritolu, eesnimed enamjaolt euroopalikud; kohanimed on valdavalt ühekordsed. Sambias ei ole erinevalt Eestist nimeseadusi isiku- ja kohanimede reguleerimiseks. Ühine on mõlema maa puhul asjaolu, et ajaloos on varem domineerinud võõrvõimud, mis on jätnud jälje nimepilti. Kui proovida sõnastada universaalseid nimekorralduspõhimõtteid, siis võiksid need olla 1) nimede kui kultuuripärandi kaitse; 2) kohalike nimekujude eelistamine; 3) nimede keeleline korrektsus, 4) oma kultuuriidentiteedi hoidmine, 5) nimede pragmaatiliste aspektide (eristatavus, nimeinfo kättesaadavus jm) arvestamine.

The aim of the study was to determine the degree of parasitic invasion at various physiological stages, as well as tracing the dynamics of parasitic invasions in a flock of sheep kept in the combined indoor-pasture management system. The observations were performed on 224 mother ewes of the synthetic SCP prolific meat line over the course of two years. The animals were kept in the combined indoor-pasture management system with uniform feeding and environmental conditions and were under continuous animal husbandry and veterinary supervision. The ewes participating in the experiment were not wormed in the year preceding the experiment and during the observations. The experiment involved parasitologic tests aimed at the determination of abundance and prevalence of invasions of gastrointestinal parasites in mother ewes. The study material was faeces collected from the rectum in the following stages: pregnancy (November), day 2, 28, 42 and 56 after lambing, drying off (day 100 after lambing) and rest (between dry-off and mating). In the analysis of the results of the study it can be noted that, in most cases, the highest prevalence and abundance levels are observed in the infertility period. Moreover, the period of pregnancy and lambing was a crucial one. On the other hand, the lowest abundance and prevalence levels in the majority of cases were observed on day 28 and 42 after lambing. The results of the study should be taken into consideration during the development of prevention strategies limiting parasitic invasions in sheep flocks. Adjusting chemotherapy to the most important periods of parasitic invasions will enable a more efficient fight against parasites. It should also reduce the excessive use of chemical preparations, which is crucial due to the increasing resistance of parasites. Apart from the aforementioned actions, farmers should pay attention to supporting immunity by means of feed, especially in the periods of highest vulnerability to invasions. Such actions should lead to the reduction of losses caused by parasitic invasions in sheep flocks.

For the development of the research was applied the hypothetical-deductive method and the analytical, on the other hand was applied the methodology of application development for Smartphones Mobile-D; Through the collection of information that involves eld research, it was veri ed that the Museum does not have technological alternatives that allow the dissemination of the historical-cultural heritage, thus demonstrating that the creation of the virtual guide through mobile technology is the technological solution to improve The user’s experience in visiting and disseminating museums; So is the search for the use of new technologies helping to turn a forgotten environment into an interactive and friendly environment. With the implementation of Mobile Technology in the Museum of the Isidro Ayora School, visitors will be able to interact with the art articles displayed and visualize their information on any Android device through a multimedia library by simply scanning the QR code that each contains and In consequence it will allow the innovation, difusion and recognition of the Museum.

Many techniques exist for 3D digitization of cultural heritage objects. Paintings, manuscripts, and other near-planar objects are especially challenging to digitize because of their minute surface variations. Of the existing techniques, fringe projection profilometry (FPP) is one of the most promising approaches for measuring the surface shape of such objects. In practical implementations of FPP, one needs to understand and control various sources of error due to system hardware and environmental conditions. It is difficult to find information on this in one place in the literature, which discourages application of the technique. In this paper we present a practitioner’s guide to phase-shifting fringe projection profilometry that covers critical but often omitted implementation details required for successful application of the technique.

Montenegro is a land of great history which needs attention and care for a deeper knowledge and its making at the disposal of new generations. It is still a territory to be discovered, studied, and disclosed. It is important to understand how much hidden heritage there is still in this area to explore and exploit, but on the other hand, how much known heritage exists to protect and monitor, preventing its destruction and loss. In this context, Montenegro is heavily investing in the management of cultural heritage through initiatives for identification, protection, preservation, enhancement and fruition of them. In the frame of the knowledge, the use of non-destructive geophysical methods can be helpful for a cognitive investigation immediately in the bud of any archaeological verification project, safeguarded through preventive archaeology operations and the exploration of large areas within archaeological parks. In this paper, the results of geophysical prospections at the Hellenistic-Illyrian site of Mjace, the roman towns of Doclea and Municipium S, the medieval city of Svač, and the Stećci medieval tombstones graveyards of Novakovići, Žugića, and Plužine are presented. The study allowed the reconnaissance of new buried structures in the soil and has provided an updated view of the rich archaeological heritage of Montenegro.
