<p>This paper estimates substitution in consumer demand for coffee product categories in Japan using the linear approximate quadratic almost ideal demand system model (LA/QUAIDS). Three expenditure shares and demand equations for coffee beans and powder (beans/powder), canned and bottled coffee (canned/bottled) and coffee drunk at coffee shops (coffee shops) are estimated for two or more person households in forty-nine cities for the period January 2000 through February 2015. The expenditure elasticity estimates indicate that coffee shops are luxury goods while beans/powder and canned/bottled coffee are necessities in the Japanese household. The demographic effects show that persons over the age of 65 and people who earn more consume coffee at coffee shops. Moreover, seasonal effects show demand for canned and bottled coffee as mostly positive while it is mostly negative for coffee drunk at coffee shops in most of the months. The findings of this study indicate that coffee product categories in the Japanese market are substitutes for one another, which is consistent with the reality of coffee consumption in Japan.<strong></strong></p>

Indonesia is one of the top coffee producers in the world. The major markets for Indonesian coffee are European Union (EU), then Germany is the largest importing country. This research analyzed the position for Indonesian robusta coffee in Germany among Vietnam and India as the major producers of robusta coffee as Indonesia. The econometric model of the Linear Approximate Almost Ideal Demand System was used to estimate a position for Indonesian robusta coffee among its competitors. The analysis utilized time-series data from 1996 to 2017. The results of the study showed that the main exporting countries, including Indonesia, tended to have lower import tariffs than other countries, not the main exporters. The demand for imported coffee beans was generally influenced by the prices of major exporters, but demand for imported roasted coffee was not affected by the prices of major importing countries. Indonesian coffee beans in the German market was elastic, while roasted coffee was inelastic. Indonesian coffee competed with Vietnam both for coffee beans and roasted coffee. The expenditure elasticity of Indonesian coffee beans was positive and Indonesian roasted coffee was negative.

<p class="0abstract">In the past few decades, the use of ontologies in information systems has become popular in many fields, such as website development, database integration, and natural language processing. Because many kinds of coffee beans can be used in coffee shops, the prospective coffee house entrepreneur meets obstacles in terms of choosing the right coffee beans because of multiple unique characteristics. In order to help this cohort make decisions, our study proposed a simulation ontology-based matching for coffee bean selection by inserting three parameters—aroma, flavor, and sour level—as inputs on the website.<span> Arabica coffee bean is used as the principal object in this study and t</span>he outputs would be the beans matched with the parameters that had been inserted. Between agro-food products, coffee is the first commodity to quarrel in ethical attributes and sustainability issues such as fair trade, premium prices, as well as justified value chain issues. Taking into account the growing coffee consumption in Indonesia, this article tries to prove connoisseur consumers (CCs) are moderating the sustainable consumption and dynamics capabilities (DCs) of single origin coffee shops (SOCSs). An in-depth interview to 30 SOCS managers and 60 baristas and a survey to 450 consumers found that there are significant correlations between connoisseurs attributes such as the depth of a barista’s knowledge of coffee, the barista’s skills, the shop image, the coffee variation, the barista’s communication skills, and the serving techniques and that they have a relationship with an increase in the number of consumers. The existence of CCs has encouraged the practice of consumption sustainability of SOCSs and moderates SOCSs to improve sensing, seizing, and transforming shop management to stand against the competition. Based on the above findings, more in-depth research on the standard character and number of CCs is needed as well as their contribution to the revenue structure of SOCSs. Meanwhile, connoisseur customers’ support is capable of helping the SOCSs in improving their DCs to improve the sustainable consumption of Indonesian single origin coffee in the future.

The first difference version of the restricted source-differentiated almost ideal demand system is used to estimate South Korean meat demand. The results of this study indicate that the United States has the most to gain from an increase in the size of the South Korean imported meat market in terms of its beef exports, while South Korea has the most to gain from this expansion in the pork market. Moreover, the results indicate that the United States has a competitive advantage to Australia in the South Korean beef market. Results of this study have implications for U.S. meat exports in this ever-changing policy environment.

Coffee is a drink that is preferred among the people. Coffee is a type of beverage that comes from the processing and extraction of coffee beans. Coffee comes from Arabic qahwah which means strength. Coffee can be said as a drink that provides energy. At this time there was a booming coffee shop business. These days the emergence of various types of coffee shops that sell various types of coffee drinks are supported by the interior and various unique concepts that can not be separated from people’s lives. This has led to consumptive behavior that mainly occurs among young people so they are happy to be in a coffee shop. This study aims to explain and find out whether there is an influence of lifestyle on a person’s purchasing decisions in the Coffee Memories of Gandaria City, especially among young people. The independent variables used in this study are Activity, Interest and Opinion. Sample population used in this study are visitors or consumers who are or have made purchases of Kengangan Gandaria City Coffee as many as 100 people. This research uses descriptive method. Based on the results of the determination test shows the number of 0.700 so it can be concluded that purchasing decisions are significantly influenced by lifestyle. This shows that the occurrence of consumptive lifestyles that affect a person in making purchase decisions. Lifestyle variables on opinion indicators provide the most powerful influence compared to other indicators. Keywords: lifestyle, buyer decision, coffe shop, food and beverage product

One of the effects of coffee consumption that still questionable is the increase of total cholesterol levels. The content of cafestol in coffee beans could be expected to block the process of β-oxidation of cholesterol that increases cholesterol levels in the blood. This study aimed to describe the normal total cholesterol levels and high total cholesterol levels in coffee addicts in the working area of Puskesmas Poasia, Subdistrict of Poasia. The research sample amounted 38 people taken by purposive sampling. The results showed that the total cholesterol levels test in coffee addicts obtained as many as 14 people (36.84%) with normal total cholesterol levels and as many as 24 people (63.16%) had a high total cholesterol level, but from 24 people of the coffee addicts, there are 4 of them in young age and allowed the possibility of an increase in cholesterol levels become faster due to genetic, lifestyle and unhealthy diet. It concluded that of the 38 people of coffee addicts who tested the cholesterol levels, the number of coffee addicts with high total cholesterol levels more than coffee addicts with normal total cholesterol levels. Therefore, it suggested people to reduce consumption of coffee, especially those for coffee addicts.

The goal of this analysis was to evaluate energy and cost requirements for different configurations of a rainwater harvesting (RWH) system in conjunction with a solar PV and energy storage system for an off-grid house. Using models in fluid mechanics, we evaluated energy and power requirements for four different system configurations: 1. An On-Demand System containing a single speed pump (OD-SS), 2. An On-Demand System containing a variable speed pump (OD-VS), 3. A Pressurized Storage System where water is pumped once during the day into a large pressurized tank for later consumption and treated on demand via UV light (PS-AOT), and 4. A Pressurized Storage System where water is treated once per day via UV light and then stored for later consumption (PS-TO). Our analysis showed that the OD-SS system model requires 2.63 kWh per day, the OD-VS system model requires a total energy of 1.65 kWh per day, and the PS-AOT requires 1.67–1.69 kWh per day depending on the pump size, and the PS-TO system requires 0.19–0.36 kWh per day depending on the pump size. When comparing estimated cost between systems, we found the OD-SS system to be the most expensive. With the OD-SS system as a base for system costs, we found the OD-VS system to be 39% less expensive, the PS-AOT system to be 21% less expensive, and the PS-TO system to be 60% less expensive than the base OD-SS system.
