A number of related literatures have shown that the Nigerian capital market variables studied has satisfactory market performance and has contributed to economic growth. Yet some researchers observed that the capital market has not significantly mobilized and effectively channeled substantial capital to the real sector of the economy. What could have been the reason for the divergences? The study was anchored on the demand following hypothesis. Secondary data were sourced from Central Bank of Nigeria Statistical Bulletin and Nigeria Stock Exchange fact-book of various editions. The paper adopted the ex-post facto research design while ordinary least square regression techniques was used to process the data gathered using E-views 9.0 software. The null hypotheses (Ho) were tested at 5% level of significance. The findings of the paper revealed that there is negative and insignificant relationship between capital market and the variables studied. The paper conclude that liquidity of the capital market is pivotal for economic growth in Nigeria while the study recommended that all tiers of government should be encouraged to fund their realistic long term developmental program through the Nigeria capital market.

This study examines the impact of capital market reforms on the Nigerian economic growth between 1981 and 2010. The prevailing challenges in the World financial markets; especially the capital market justifies the various forms of reforms going on around the World. The ordinary least square method of regression and the Johansen co-integration analysis were employed to analyse the secondary data sourced from the Central Bank of Nigeria statistical bulletin, the Nigeria Stock Exchange Fact book and the Nigeria Security and Exchange Commission Reports. The results show that capital reforms positively impact the economic growth. The study recommends among others that government should objectively evaluate enacted laws and reforms agenda in a manner that will enhance economic growth rather than considering political issues before embarking on reforms.

The role of the capital market in the growth and development of any economy need not be over-emphasized. The capital market is a complex institution and mechanisms through which economic units desirous to invest their surplus fund, interact directly or through financial intermediaries with those who wish to procure funds for their businesses. The Nigerian capital market started operations in mid-1961 with eight stocks and equities; with about seven United Kingdom (UK) firms quoted on the Nigerian Stock Exchange (NSE) which had, at the same time, dual quotations on the London Stock Exchange. This study examined the impact of the capital market on economic growth in Nigeria from 1981 to 2018. The expo facto research design was adopted for this study. The time-series data for the study were sourced from CBN statistical bulletin. Autoregressive Distributed Lag (ARDL) was used with the aid of e-view 10 software. The ARDL Bounds test revealed the existence of a long-run relationship among the variables. The result revealed that market capitalization has positive and insignificant effects on economic growth both in the short and long run. There is unidirectional causality among the variables.  The study recommended that regulatory authorities should restore confidence in the market by ensuring transparency and fair trading dealings and transactions in the market to enhance economic growth. There should be an improvement in the moribund market capitalization, by encouraging more foreign investors to participate in the market, maintain a state of the art technology like automated trading and settlement practices, electronic fund clearance, and eliminate physical transfer of shares.

This study critically examines the relationship between the capital market and economic growth of Nigeria. Data are mainly obtained from secondary sources, the CBN statistical bulletin over the period of 1980–2015. The results from the augmented Dickey Fuller unit root test show that all the variables were stationary at the level except RGDP, MCAP and TNI, which were stationary at the first difference. The results from Ordinary Least Square (OLS) reveal that total new issue, market capitalization, and total listing positively impact  the economy while the value of the transaction has a negative impact on real gross domestic product. The study recommends, among others, that the government implement measures to build up investors’ confidence in the capital market by fair transactions, by increasing investment instruments on the market; all the tiers of government should encourage funding their realistic development program through the capital market.

Based on rule of thumb, economic growth will influence the capital market performance and financial market performance will affect the capital market performance. We use the Error correction model approach to analysis between variable. TARCH approach is employed, based on the ‘identification through heteroscedasticity’ technique, to estimate the impact of a change in the growth and kurs variable to IHSG. This study indicates that economic growth is not affect IHSG statistically significant in the short run, but positive statistically significant in the long run. This study show that increasing in $US exchange rate will lessening capital market performance. Additional analysis in this research shows the linear function model more proper than log-linear function model to predict this relationship.

Aims: The study assessed the determinants of earnings response coefficient in the Nigerian Post-IFRS implementation era. It critically looked at the impact of investors' protection, earnings persistency, and systematic risks on earnings response coefficients. Study design: The study adopted an ex-post facto research design. Methodology: A sample of 35 companies was drawn from the population of the listed companies in the Nigerian Stock Exchange between 2013 to 2020. Secondary data was used. The Generalized Least Square was used to test the hypotheses Results: The study shows that the earnings response coefficient improves with the influence of investors’ protection, systematic risk, and earning persistency. Although the influence from systematic risk brings about an inverse effect on ERC, it is a fundamental determinant nonetheless. It was recommended that firms should improve on their investors' protection and that their financial reports should be designed to improve the information contents of accounting earnings to include inherent socio-economic risk, past and prospective earnings.

The study made use of secondary data obtained from the Nigerian stock exchange. Ordinary least square regression technique was used to test the hypothesis for this study. The study found a positive relationship between firm size and disclosure quality. Institutional ownership, firm performance and earnings per share also had a positive relationship with disclosure quality. Firm leverage was found to have a negative relationship with disclosure quality. This study recommends that firms should introduce the idea of institutional ownership and also leverage usage should be minimized.

This paper investigated the relationship between broadband penetration and economic growth in Nigeria. The secondary data for the study were collected from the World Bank and this includes data on Internet broadband usage and Gross Domestic Product while the primary data were generated from the questionnaire administered to the respondents. The descriptive statistics and the ordinary least square regression analytical method were used to examine the relationship between broadband penetration and economic growth. It was discovered that a per cent increase in broadband penetration will only increase output (Economic Growth) by 0.1 per cent in Nigeria. The data analysis showed a significant and positive relationship between broadband penetration and economic growth. The study thus recommended that efforts must be made towards the implementation of broadband policy and effective utilization of the broadband network. Also, better telecommunication reforms that will create enabling environment and encourage the inflow of broadband networks should be made.
