The purpose of this paper is to discuss the organizational performance and entrepreneurial orientation of Malaysian Small and Medium Enterprises (SMEs). Literature has shown that leadership and entrepreneurial orientation are important for organizational performance but still inadequate. Thus, this investigation hopes to close this gap in the literature and contribute to a new understanding of relationships between leadership and organizational performance, and entrepreneurial orientation served as a mediator. This study comprised a sample of owners or managers in the manufacturing and service sectors of SMEs located in Kuala Lumpur and Selangor, as their largest representation of SME establishments and significant contributions to Malaysia economy. A cross-sectional research design was used to examine the relationships between leadership behavior, entrepreneurial orientation and organizational performance among SMEs. The respondent’s lists were sought from the SME Corp. Malaysia at http://www.smecorp.gov.my and http://www.smeinfo.com.my. Data were gathered based on a mailed questionnaire and personal administered questionnaires. The findings indicate that entrepreneurial orientation acted as a partial mediator in the relationship between leadership behavior and organizational performance. Transformational leadership and transactional leadership were found to have a significant relationship with entrepreneurial orientation and organizational performance of SMEs. An important implication of this research indicated that both transformational and transactional leadership behavior positively increased the individual outcome and lead to higher organizational performance.

Resilience is a vibrant process of adaptation which enables entrepreneurs to constantly direct a futuristic aspiration despite the volatile conditions of a market. The study examined entrepreneurial resilience on the performance of small and medium enterprises organization in Asaba, Delta State. The cross-sectional research survey research design method was employed. The study adopted the stratified random sampling technique. The sample size used was limited to 201 respondents. A structured questionnaire was the research instrument employed in the study. Descriptive statistics as well as multiple regression analysis was used to analyse the data collected. Findings showed overwhelmingly that resourcefulness, strategic diversity and pro-activeness has a substantial positive relationship with organizational performance. The study concluded that entrepreneurial resilience has a positive effect on organizational performance. The study result showed that resourcefulness has the highest affirmative effect on organizational performance. Thus, the study recommended that if enterprises understand the nature of the association amid the dimensions of entrepreneurial resilience, the failure rate of small and medium enterprises can be reduced.

The study is attempted to examine and analyze the important influence of entrepreneurial orientation components - risk-taking, innovativeness, and proactiveness- on the organizational performance of Yemeni Small and Medium Enterprises within the food and beverage industry. The model of study is tested on 459 owners/Managers of SMEs by employing the analysis of Partial Least squares structural equation modeling (PLS-SEM), as well as Importance-Performance Map Analysis (IPMA). After utilizing the cross-sectional approach, the results illustrated that the innovativeness and risk-taking have a significant and positive impact on organizational performance, but their effect was less than proactiveness. Moreover, the analysis of importance-performance pointed out that proactiveness more important than innovativeness and risk-taking in determining organizational performance. The model of study expounded 34% of the whole variance in SME's performance. Moreover, it provided the implications of practical and theoretical.

The purpose of this study was to examine the effect of market orientation, technology orientation, and entrepreneurial orientation on the performance of small and medium enterprises in Jakarta. The sample was selected using the non-probability sampling method, amounting to 100 respondents who are entrepreneurs or entrepreneurs in the field of small and medium scale enterprises. Data processing techniques using the SmartPLS 3.0 program. The results of this study indicate that there is a significant influence between market orientation on organizational performance, there is a significant influence between technology orientation on organizational performance, and there is a significant influence between entrepreneurial orientation on organizational performance. Tujuan penelitian ini adalah untuk menguji pengaruh orientasi pasar, orientasi teknologi dan orientasi kewirausahaan terhadap kinerja organisasi usaha kecil dan menengah di Jakarta. Sampel dipilih menggunakan metode non-probability sampling berjumlah 100 responden yang merupakan pelaku usaha atau wirausaha dalam bidang skala usaha kecil dan menengah. Teknik pengolahan data menggunakan program SmartPLS 3.0. Hasil penelitian ini menunjukan bahwa adanya pengaruh signifikan antara orientasi pasar terhadap kinerja organisasi, adanya pengaruh yang signifikan antara orientasi teknologi terhadap kinerja organisasi, dan adanya pengaruh yang signifikan antara orientasi kewirausahaan terhadap kinerja organisasi.

The interplay between strategic orientations has received limited attention in manufacturing small and medium enterprises (SMEs).The existing studies have repeatedly called for investigating the impacts of multiple strategic orientations on organizational performance. Moreover, prior research called for disintegrating the strategic orientation and assessing their effects on organizational performance. Thus, this study is the first of its nature – disintegrating the market orientation (MO) construct and using data from 213 SMEs of Pakistan, collected through survey method, which reports on how the deployment of entrepreneurial orientation (EO) as moderator produces synergistic effect and strengthens the MO dimensions –organizational performance links. The results indicate that the MO dimensions are positively and significantly related to organizational performance. Moreover, EO significantly and positively moderates the MO dimensions and organizational performance relationships. The study provides avenues for future research.

In spite of firm innovativeness being identified as essential for growth, there exists a dearth of studies that relate entrepreneurial orientation and innovativeness in manufacturing small and medium enterprises in the developing world. In this article, we unpack the dimensions of entrepreneurial orientation and examine their influence on innovativeness of manufacturing small and medium manufacturing enterprises. This was a cross sectional survey with a stratified sample size of 363 firms.   Regression models were used to validate the derived hypothesis. We discuss the implications of the results which show that the dimensions were individually not found to have a significant effect on innovation but yet entrepreneurial orientation had an influence on firm innovativeness. We identify the need for additional studies to broaden the scope of future studies across several geographies. We conclude by challenging the ever-dynamic local institutional policies that have not had a significant impact on the effect of entrepreneurial orientation on innovativeness of SMEs across many developing countries.

Organizational entrepreneurial characteristics (OEC) have received less attention compared with the individual entrepreneurial ones. In addition, few studies examined this issue in the context of small and medium enterprises (SMEs) in developing countries. The purpose of this study is to examine the impact of OEC on the entrepreneurial orientation (EO) of an organizational member. OEC are operationalized to include top management support (TMS), organizational culture (OC), and transformational leadership (TL). Two moderators are proposed in this study: the CEO’s education and company`s size. The data were collected via purposive sampling using a questionnaire; a survey included 206 SMEs in Iraq. The data were analyzed using AMOS. The findings indicate that the impact of EOC (B = 0.14) on OE is positive. Its dimensions TL (B = 0.14) and TMS (0.50) also impacted positively the OE. CEO’s education and company size moderated positively the effect of OEC on OE. Decision makers are advised to pay more attention to leadership style and adopt open culture as well as free expression and tolerance among SMEs in Iraq.

Encouraging internationalization and EO is essential for SMEs that seek to serve suppliers and customers, increase business performance, strengthen competitiveness, and achieve continuous success in SMEs. The chapter argues that encouraging internationalization and EO has the potential to enhance organizational performance and reach strategic goals in SMEs.

Summary Small and medium enterprises (SMEs) are fundamental to the economy of all countries, representing the majority, with a considerable contribution to GDP, as well as generating jobs; for this reason, it must seek to remain in the market. The objective is to analyze the impact of training on the organizational performance of SMEs in northwestern Mexico, applying the statistical technique of structural equations model (SEM-PLS); the research was conducted to 195, considering the commercial, industrial and services, is a quantitative study, descriptive, correlational, causal, using the statistical technique of structural equations with the SMART PLS 3.3.2 software, and not experimental cross-sectional. The alternative hypothesis is accepted, since training has an effect on the organizational performance of SMEs in northwestern Mexico. It is highly significant because there is very strong evidence of the causality of the mediating variable training on the organizational performance of SMEs with 99.9% reliability. Training has the greatest effect on organizational performance because each unit that increases training will have an effect of +0.453, being the variable with the greatest cause-effect impact on organizational performance in SMEs in northwestern Mexico.
