A new species of the biconic, deep water conid genus Turriconus Shikama and Habe, 1968 has been discovered in the bathyal zones south of the Pratas Islands, South China Sea. This new taxon, Turriconus takahashii new species, superficially resembles T. excelsus (Sowerby III, 1908), both in size and shape and is one of the largest species in the genus Turriconus

A new species of deep-water barnacle belonging to the family Poecilasmatidae is described from the South China Sea.Glyptelasma dentatumsp. nov. differs from its congeners in having an inwardly projecting tooth on either side of the internal median concavity of the basally expanded margins of the carina. Information on distribution and a key to the world’s species ofGlyptelasmaare provided.

A New Species

A new species, Michaelcallianassa sinica, from the Beibu Gulf (Tonkin Gulf), northern South China Sea, is described and illustrated. The new species is readily distinguished from M. indica Sakai, 2002, the type species of the genus, by its short uropodal endopod and exopod, and elongated carpus of the minor cheliped.

A new fish species from the South China Sea, Pegasus nanhaiensis sp. nov., is described herein. The new species is readily distinguished from all other species of the genus Pegasus with the following characteristics: A rounded hump-like tubercle on each of dorsal plates I, II, and III. Noticeable hexagonal patterns on the dorsal carapace with a clear boundary, and two paired caudolateral plates overlapping the junctions between tail rings II and III, and between tail rings IV and V. The integrated evidence from both morphological and genetic studies indicates that P. nanhaiensis represents an independent lineage within the genus Pegasus.
