A systematic literature review of published sources that discuss radio frequency identification technology, ubiquitous health care, and dosage measurement was performed. The results were then critiqued. Methods of storing data and using Radio Frequency Identification (RFID) were studied. These results were used as an aid for developing a prototype system for monitoring medication dosages in a home health care environment. The combination of an RFID technology – the Intel Wireless Sensor Platform (WISPs) and the construction of a specific pill dispensing container in this prototype demonstrated that it is possible to use RFID technology to effectively and ubiquitously monitor and track drug taking compliance. With further refinements on the dispensing unit and optimization of the software this product could be manufactured and released to home care patients to help increase compliance and reduce health related issues. This could form the heart of a modular telecare data collection system. RFID-based devices that can store data in standardized formats may allow incremental development of home telecare systems in an economical fashion.

AbstractIntroduction: In mass-casualty situations, communications and information management to improve situational awareness is a major challenge for responders. In this study, the feasibility of a prototype system that utilizes commercially available, low-cost components, including Radio Frequency Identification (RFID) and mobile phone technology, was tested in two simulated mass-casualty incidents. Methods: The feasibility and the direct benefits of the system were evaluated in two simulated mass-casualty situations: one in Finland involving a passenger ship accident resulting in multiple drowning/hypothermia patients, and another at a major airport in Sweden using an aircraft crash scenario. Both simulations involved multiple agencies and functioned as test settings for comparing the disaster management’s situational awareness with and without using the RFID-based system. Triage documentation was done using both an RFID-based system, which automatically sent the data to the Medical Command, and a traditional method using paper triage tags. The situational awareness was measured by comparing the availability of up-to date information at different points in the care chain using both systems. Results: Information regarding the numbers and status or triage classification of the casualties was available approximately one hour earlier using the RFID system compared to the data obtained using the traditional method. Conclusions: The tested prototype system was quick, stable, and easy to use, and proved to work seamlessly even in harsh field conditions. It surpassed the paper-based system in all respects except simplicity of use. It also improved the general view of the mass-casualty situations, and enhanced medical emergency readiness in a multi-organizational medical setting. The tested technology is feasible in a mass-casualty incident; further development and testing should take place.

Nowadays, the complaints of air passengers about mishandling of luggage are highly noticeable, where the number of passengers are on the increased. In this respect, several research works have been conducted using different technologies, such as Radio Frequency Identification (RFID), Global Positioning System (GPS), Global System for Mobile Communication (GPS), mobile applications, smart watches and QR code. However, none of them safely and effectively considers reclaiming passengers' belongings from the airport baggage handling carousel without the need for human intervention, which in turn increases the number of mishandled bags. Therefore, in this paper we propose a new Airport Luggage Tracker System (ALTS) in order to provide a reliable solution compared with the research works found in the literature. A prototype system based on the proposed design is successfully implemented and tested using Arduino UNO, RFID technology and website application (check-in and check-out at departure lounge and arrival lounge, respectively). Keywords— radio frequency identification (RFID), tracking system (TS), airport luggage tracker system (ALTS).

Due to increasing the number of vehicles loans defaulters, the banks subsequently experience more financial risks. Where each day of delay in paying installments they incur massive losses. Although there are several research works have been conducted in this field, the financial banks' concerns have not been addressed thoroughly. Therefore, in this paper we propose the Improved Vehicular Tracking System (IVTS) in order to provide an optimal solution in terms of efficiency, accuracy and reducing banks losses compared with the research works found in the literature. A prototype system based on the proposed design is successfully implemented and tested using Radio Frequency Identification (RFID) and website application.
