We consider a reduction of a nonhomogeneous linear system of first-order operator equations to a totally reduced system. Obtained results are applied to Cauchy problem for linear differential systems with constant coefficients and to the question of differential transcendency.

We study the number of limit cycles of the discontinuous piecewise linear differential systems in ℝ2n with two zones separated by a hyperplane. Our main result shows that at most (8n - 6)n-1 limit cycles can bifurcate up to first-order expansion of the displacement function with respect to a small parameter. For proving this result, we use the averaging theory in a form where the differentiability of the system is not necessary.

We study the bifurcation of limit cycles from the periodic orbits of a two-dimensional (resp. four-dimensional) linear center in ℝn perturbed inside a class of discontinuous piecewise linear differential systems. Our main result shows that at most 1 (resp. 3) limit cycle can bifurcate up to first-order expansion of the displacement function with respect to the small parameter. This upper bound is reached. For proving these results, we use the averaging theory in a form where the differentiability of the system is not needed.

In this paper we consider total reduction of the nonhomogeneous linear system of operator equations with constant coefficients and commuting operators. The totally reduced system obtained in this manner is completely decoupled. All equations of the system differ only in the variables and in the nonhomogeneous terms. The homogeneous parts are obtained using the generalized characteristic polynomial of the system matrix. We also indicate how this technique may be used to examine differential transcendence of the solution of the linear system of the differential equations with constant coefficients over the complex field and meromorphic free terms.

SynopsisWe consider ordinary linear differential systems of first order with distributional coefficients and distributional nonhomogeneous terms. Firstly the coefficients are assumed to be functions, secondly to be first order distributions (i.e. first derivatives of functions which are integrable or of bounded variation), and thirdly to be distributions of higher order.
