This is an exploratory study that explores the experiences of lactating women in initiating, continuing, or discontinuing breastfeeding in an urban area of Karachi, Pakistan. Objectives. To explore the experiences of lactating women and to understand their support and hindering mechanisms in initiating and maintaining breastfeeding. Methods. This is an exploratory design assisting in exploring the participant's experiences of initiating and maintaining breastfeeding to better understand their world. Purposive sampling was used, and data was analyzed through manual thematic analysis. Results. The data revealed that mother's knowledge, sociocultural environment, breastfeeding decision, and self- and professional support acted as driving forces for the participants. However, sociocultural environment, physiological changes, time management, and being a housewife to breastfeed their children were all challenges and barriers that the participants thought hindered their breastfeeding initiation and maintenance. Conclusion. Breastfeeding is a natural but taxing phenomenon, and breastfeeding mothers experience supporting and hindering factors in initiating and maintaining breastfeeding.

Beijing has experienced a rapid urban sprawl over the past three decades, along with accelerated socio-economic development. This study investigated the change patterns and figured out the driving forces of urban expansion in the study area. To obtain urban class, decision tree classification techniques were used to identify the land cover types using four scenes of Landsat images from four periods of 1978-era, 1992-era, 2000-era and 2010-era. Then, the urban areas were identified by excluding water, agriculture, forest, grassland and bare land. The analysis results showed that: 1) urban construction land had been expanded very quickly and the urban area is mainly in the south-central part of the municipality; 2) the urban area increased by 96284.97 ha and the ratio was 5.88%; and 3) population growth, economic development, urban construction and industrial structure adjustment could explain the expansion. These analysis results can provide significant information on the monitoring and management of sustainable urban development.

Basketball is a team sport, with many fans and practitioners worldwide from all ages and levels. In all cases, players accumulate high levels of fatigue, and there is also limited time to recover between games or practices. In particular, nutrition plays a key role in optimizing performance and recovery. However, it is typical to observe erroneous nutritional behaviors among basketball players. It has been theorized that these behaviors are influenced by habits acquired based on the individual’s knowledge. Therefore, the main aim of this study was to conduct a descriptive research of the sports nutrition knowledge and practices in a sample of Spanish basketball players, from athletes under 18 years old (n = 69) to nonprofessional (n = 14) and professional adult players (n = 21). The sample was comprised of 49 men and 55 women. This was a transversal, cross-sectional, observational and descriptive study. All participants (n = 104) completed an anonymous online survey in order to analyze their sports nutrition knowledge and practices. In view of the obtained results, we can conclude that the knowledge of sport-specific nutrition in players under 18 years old, as well as non-professional and professional adult basketball players, is insufficient through all the categories and levels. The lack of professional support and time management difficulties were identified as some of the main barriers.

Abstract This exploratory study examined the relationship between second language (L2) English speakers’ comprehensibility and their interactional behaviors as they engaged in a conversation with fellow L2 speakers. Thirty-six pairs of L2 English university students completed a 10-minute academic discussion task and subsequently rated each other’s comprehensibility. Transcripts of their conversation were coded for eight measures of task engagement, including cognitive/behavioral engagement (idea units, language-related episodes), social engagement (encouragement, responsiveness, task and time management, backchanneling, nodding), and emotional engagement (positive affect). Speakers who showed more encouragement and nodding were perceived as easier to understand, whereas those who produced more frequent language-focused episodes and demonstrated more responsiveness were rated as harder to understand. These findings provide initial evidence for an association between L2 speakers’ interactional behaviors and peer-ratings of comprehensibility, highlighting L2 comprehensibility as a multifaceted and interaction-driven construct.

For recent decades, especially with the launch of international commercial satellites carrying high-precision sensors, land use dynamic monitoring techniques based on high-resolution remote sensing imagery have undergone a phase of rapid development of key techniques applied in many aspects vastly. This paper is focused on the technological research and procedure of these key techniques, including the process of multi-temporal images, the information classification and feature extraction method, and also the analysis of classified result and driving factors influencing mutual conversion between land classes. Considering the representative meaning as its typicality in China, Yangzhou urban area was regarded as the study zone with multi-temporal images of three periods in the year of 1988, 2002 and 2007. During the procedure of classifying, object-oriented method was applied to e36xtract features from different multi-temporal imagery. Through comparative analysis, it was demonstrated that residential area expanded rapidly especially from 2002 to 2007 and area of the arable and other kinds of land cover reduced considerably. Finally, it is concluded that multiple driving forces affected the land use/change and multivariable linear regression model was used to explore the primary and secondary forces.

This study explores how the student creates ways to maximize their time in working and in studying. The said study also aims to investigate and identify students' experiences while working. They are starting at how difficult their situation. Next, the problems they encounter. Then, how they deal and cope with such difficulties. The purpose of this study is to investigate the experiences of working while studying. In this study, a qualitative study is used. It is a subjective report which made utilization of a phenomenological way to deal with accumulating important information. The method that is used in the process of making this part of the study is the Snowball technique. Based on the participants’ responses on their perceptions on working while studying, it is confirmed that financial support, self-development and internal motivation to integrate theory and practice are among the driving forces of working while studying at university. The findings also show that the participants have happy feeling and good time management. Moreover, it shows that the effective ways of overcoming the problems they encounter is through good time management and self-reflection. The last research question intended to ask the participants their suggestions and recommendations for students who have similar condition. Among the suggestions are the students who decide to work while studying must be first of all committed and disciplined.
