Nau dos Insensatos is an electroacoustic composition by Conrado Silva commissioned for the XXth São Paulo Art Biennial of 1989. The analysis of the piece reveals that an intrinsic narrative content can be deduced from the sequence of materials, topics, and formal organization used in the composition. The theoretical framework used to reach these conclusions considered the music narrative theory of Byron Almén, besides the classical semiotic interpretation of C. S. Peirce. Brief accounts of the principles of these theories were provided to subsidy the interpretation. As the creation of the piece had a direct relation with the space where it should be performed, the paper also reports the problems generated by the building’s acoustics, besides some contextual information about the exhibition. Theoretical information about the relation between acoustic space and music, applied to music of three other Brazilian composers enhances the approach to Conrado Silva’s music.

This article investigates the trajectory of the Grêmio Dramático, Recreativo e Literário Elite da Liberdade (the Liberdade Elite Guild of Drama, Recreation, and Literature), a black club active in São Paulo, Brazil, from 1919 to 1927. The aim is to reconstruct aspects of the club’s history in light of its educational discourse on civility, which was used as a strategy to promote modern virtues in the black milieu. By appropriating the precepts of civility, Elite da Liberdade helped construct a positive black identity, enabled the creation of bonds of solidarity among its members, and made itself a place of resistance and struggle for social inclusion, recognition, and citizens’ rights.

O presente artigo consiste numa análise das dezesseis matérias sobre dislexia publicadas nos três jornais de maior circulação do Brasil desde 2010, com intuito de verificar como a imprensa tende a abordar o distúrbio e, consequentemente, a que tipo de informações referentes a ele os leitores têm acesso. Este trabalho também teve por objetivo investigar se o conteúdo das matérias tem o potencial de esclarecer questões relacionadas à dislexia, promovendo, assim, uma divulgação responsável do tema. Esta iniciativa se justifica pela premissa de que informar sobre a dislexia é crucial para que a comunidade escolar (professores, alunos e pais) se torne cada vez mais apta a lidar com o problema. O arcabouço teórico desta pesquisa conta com contribuições de Behan (2001), Boder (1983) e Johnson & Myklebust (1983), dentre outros. Com elas foi confrontado o conteúdo das matérias dos jornais O Globo, Folha de São Paulo e O Estadão. Trata-se, portanto, de revisão bibliográfica aplicada para avaliar a acurácia e a relevância das matérias. Os resultados revelaram que, apesar de algumas divergências e pontos negativos, elas, em sua expressiva maioria, apresentam potencial de contribuição para o esclarecimento de questões concernentes à dislexia do desenvolvimento.Palavras-chave: Dislexia do Desenvolvimento; Matérias Jornalísticas; Informação. Developmental Dyslexia in the news: an analysis of newspaper articles about the disorder published in the three largest Brazilian newspapers between 2010 and 2017ABSTRACTThis study is an analysis of sixteen newspaper articles about dyslexia published in the three main Brazilian newspapers between 2010 and 2017, in order to verify how the press tends to approach the disorder and, consequently, what type of information is at the readers’ disposal. This research also aimed at investigating if the content conveyed by the sixteen articles is potentially capable of providing readers with awareness of important aspects of dyslexia, thus spreading information about the disorder in a responsible way. This work is based on the premise according to which providing the population with information on dyslexia is pivotal for enabling the school community (teachers, students and parents) to face the problem. The theoretical framework includes contributions by Behan (2001), Benton (1980) and Johnson & Myklebust (1983), among others. The content of the newspaper articles by O Globo, Folha de São Paulo and O Estadão was then set against the theoretical framework. It is, therefore, a bibliographic review applied in an evaluation of the accuracy and relevance of the articles’ content. Este trabajo también tuvo como objetivo investigar si el contenido de las materias tiene el potencial de aclarar cuestiones relacionadas con la dislexia, promoviendo, así, una divulgación responsable del tema. Esta iniciativa se justifica por la premisa de que informar sobre la dislexia es crucial para que la comunidad escolar (profesores, alumnos y padres) se vuelva cada vez más apta a lidiar con el problema. La fundamentación teórica de esta investigación aporta contribuciones teóricas de Behan (2001), Boder (1983) y Johnson & Myklebust (1983), entre otros. Con ellas se confronto el contenido de los artículos de O Globo, Folha de São Paulo y Estadão. Se trata, por lo tanto, de una revisión bibliográfica aplicada para evaluar la precisión y la relevancia de las materias. In 2019, I was with the design team of the exhibition Paul Klee - Equilíbrio Instável, held in the various spaces of the Banco do Brasil Cultural Center, in the cities of São Paulo, Rio de Janeiro and Belo Horizonte. It was an exclusive exhibition for Brazil that brought together 120 works by the artist, from the collection of Zentrum Paul Klee from Bern, Switzerland. At that time, I made an audiovisual display on five screens, which presented to the visitors aspects of the artistic techniques developed and used by the artist in his vast work. This research is part of a broader one, on the use of audiovisual in expographic projects that is the subject of my doctoral thesis, in progress. At this moment, however, a reflection will be presented on this specific audiovisual display, held for the exhibition cited. Our goal was to look at the various tensions that apply to the process of construction of a piece of this type, from the point of view of the design project. As well as the search for the function performed by it within the exhibition project. To do this reflection we started with a contextualization of this modality of exhibition using as object of study its edition held at the Banco do Brasil Cultural Center of São Paulo (CCBB-SP), looking at the spaces and their exhibition issues and its influence on the development of the project. We present, in the sequence, a description of the exhibition as a whole from the visitor point of view and from its catalog. Production files from this audiovisual display were researched, such as first drawings, scripts, concept development archives, photographic material and versions developed until its final. This material was observed from the concept of the creation networks, by Cecília Almeida Salles. We also held a dialogue with other members of the creative team, from different levels of the production process, in order to know the tensions that are applied in the production of this limited element of an expographic project like this. We saw, in this specific case of producing an audiovisual display, how each constituent element of an exhibition like this is traversed by tensions of various types, which are common within an exhibition design project, with many professionals from different areas involved. In addition to the identification of external factors that directly influence its production. We conclude then that the development of an exhibition is now inserted within what we know as a culture of design, which allows us to look at thistype of cultural manifestation as something that can no longer be limited to previous models of idealization of the exhibition space or abstain from the use of technologies and possibilities of connection with the public.

ABSTRACT Based on historical references of scientific communication, we analyzed the issues of the Boletim do Instituto de Higiene de São Paulo and of the Arquivos da Faculdade de Higiene e Saúde Pública da Universidade de São Paulo. Published respectively from 1919 to 1946 and from 1947 to 1966, they totaled 120 issues. In their 48 years of publication, their goal was to disseminate the scientific production of the institution and to legitimize the theoretical debate of the field, in addition to supporting the public health intervention models, written by leading researchers of the institution and by contributors and managers in the field of public health. Both the Boletim and the Arquivos were recognized as scientific communication of national reference, and have laid the foundations for the creation of the Revista de Saúde Pública, in 1967.

ABSTRACT Objective: To describe the Papo Reto [Straight Talk] game and reflect on its theoretical-methodological basis. Method: Analytical study on the process of elaboration of the Papo Reto online game, destined to adolescents aged 15-18 years, with access to the Game between 2014 and 2015. Results: the interactions of 60 adolescents from Belo Horizonte and São Paulo constituted examples of the potentialities of the Game to favor the approach to sexuality with adolescents through simulation of reality, invention and interaction. Based on those potentialities, four thinking categories were discussed: the game as pedagogic device; the game as simulation of realities; the game as device for inventive learning; and the game empowering the interaction. Conclusion: By permitting that the adolescents take risks on new ways, the Game allows them to become creative and active in the production of senses, in the creation of their discourses and in the ways of thinking, feeling and acting in the sexuality field.

The “Armenian renaissance” in Brazil is a process of the simultaneous establishment of a network of community entities, the diffusion of the Armenian language and religion, and the creation of a nucleus of entrepreneurs of Armenian origin in the shoe industry in São Paulo. My central argument is that not one of these three processes can be understood in isolation, since the economic activities only exist when rooted in a cultural substrate which gives them meaning. The production of Armenian identity on Brazilian soil is a collective project, where each individual included in the identification of “Armenian” has an interest in being included—an interest inextricably emotive, cultural, religious and economic—in the collectivity of the Brazilian Armenian community. The convergence of the individual interests of the “average” Armenian with those of the diverse leadership of the community, who extract their strength precisely from their position as spokesmen, provides the elements for the “production of identities.”

O propósito deste artigo é contribuir com aportes teóricos às diretrizes de controle de anúncios comerciais na paisagem urbana tendo em vista a sobrecarga visual que se apresenta em centros comerciais urbanos de grandes e médias cidades brasileiras, o que muitos denominam poluição visual. A pesquisa exploratória de abordagem qualitativa envolveu a aplicação de 67 entrevistas, divididas entre especialistas  e usuários de centros urbanos de comércio. A pesquisa foi realizada a partir do estudo de três recortes na cidade de São Paulo, num cenário pós-implantação da Lei Cidade Limpa (Lei 14.223/06), que regulamentou de forma mais restritiva anúncios comerciais visíveis do espaço urbano. O resultado apresenta uma percepção positiva dos entrevistados acerca na regulamentação implantada e o estudo da experiência permitiu que se avançasse no estabelecimento de diretrizes para regulamentação de anúncios comercias na paisagem urbana.***The aim of this paper is to contribute with theoretical framework for the guidelines to control commercial signs in urban landscape, considering the overload condition of information and stimuli in the landscape of the urban commercial centers in medium and big cities. This exploratory research of qualitative approach applied 67 interviews to subjects, shared between 7 experts and 60 users in three different settings. The research was done in these three settings in the city of São Paulo, analyzed in a context post implementation of the Clean City Law (Law 14.223/06), that control in a more strict way commercial sings and prohibited outdoor advertisement as billboards. Results present a positive perception from the subjects interviewed about the enforcement of the law, and permitted a contribution in the development and synthesis of guidelines to control commercial signs in urban landscape.

BIBLIOTECA DE TUBOS E ACESSÓRIOS PARA IRRIGAÇÃO POR ASPERSÃO PARA AUTOCAD 13 E 14   Patricia Angélica Alves Marques; Tarlei Arriel BotrelDepartamento de Engenharia Rural, Escola Superior de Agricultura "Luiz de Queiroz", Piracicaba, São Paulo, [email protected]   1 RESUMO  Considerando-se que a realização do “lay-out” constitui uma importante etapa na elaboração de um projeto de irrigação e que as ferramentas de informática permitem uma elaboração mais rápida e flexível, utilizou-se de um levantamento das peças disponíveis, para irrigação por aspersão, em catálogos do mercado, onde selecionaram-se as principais peças utilizadas e em seguida desenhou-as em escala adequada.  Escolheu-se o programa computacional AUTOCAD que permite desenhos de ótima qualidade e também a criação do menu personalizado para utilização de um conjunto de desenho pré-estabelecidos, chamado de biblioteca.  A biblioteca de desenhos utilitários foi desenvolvida para auxiliar profissionais na elaboração de projetos de irrigação por aspersão (tubos, acessórios, aspersores e motobomba).  Os desenhos da biblioteca podem ser inseridos na sequência desejada e repetidas vezes, isto diminui o tempo gasto com desenho e melhora a qualidade final.  Para facilitar a utilização desta biblioteca criou-se um manual de utilização em Ms-Word e um programa para instalação da biblioteca utilizando o programa computacional Borland Delphi 3.0.  UNITERMOS: irrigação por aspersão, projeto, AutoCAD.   MARQUES, P . LIBRARY OF TUBES AND ACCESSORY FOR SPRINKLER IRRIGATION IN AUTOCAD 13 AND 14  2 ABSTRACT  Considering the lay-out as important stage in the irrigation project elaboration and computer science tools makes a faster and flexible elaboration, it was used a rising of the available sprinkler irrigation pieces in catalogs, where the main ones were selected used and soon afterwards they has been drew in appropriate scale.  It was chosen software AUTOCAD that allows drawings of great quality and also the creation of the personalized menu for use of a drawing group called library.  The utility drawings library was developed to aid professionals in the sprinkler irrigation projects (tubes, accessories, sprinklers and pump). The drawings of the library can be inserted in the sequence need and repeated times.  This library reduces the time spend with drawing and it improves the final quality.  To facilitate the use of this library, we developed a use manual in MS-Word and an installation program in Borland Delphi 3.0.  KEYWORDS sprinkler irrigation, project, AUTOCAD.

The purpose of this article is to present the newspaper Portugal Democrático (Democratic Portugal) through its history, its style and format. It is a periodical publication produced in São Paulo by Portuguese exiles during the dictatorship of Antônio Salazar (1926-1974). The newspaper began to circulate in 1956 and came to an end in 1975, a year after the Carnation Revolution that occurred on April 25, 1974. Fighting the Salazar dictatorship outside Portugal was the reason for the creation of the newspaper in Brazil, where it also had the collaboration of Brazilian journalists and intellectuals. This paper analyzes the newspaper Portugal Democrático both in its political aspect and in its editorial feature and concludes that the paper played a greater role than informative. It was an important part of the international opposition movement and resistance to Salazar's dictatorial regime.O objetivo deste artigo é apresentar o jornal Portugal Democrático através de sua história, de seu estilo e formato. Trata-se de uma publicação periódica produzida em São Paulo por exilados portugueses durante a ditadura de Antônio Salazar (1926-1974). O jornal começou a circular em 1956 e chegou ao fim em 1975, um ano depois da Revolução dos Cravos ocorrida em 25 de abril de 1974. Lutar contra a ditadura salazarista fora de Portugal foi o motivo da criação do jornal no Brasil, onde contou com a colaboração de jornalistas e intelectuais brasileiros. O trabalho analisa o jornal Portugal Democrático tanto em seu aspecto político quanto em sua feição editorial e conclui que o periódico teve um papel maior do que informativo. Ele foi parte importante no movimento internacional de oposição e resistência ao regime ditatorial de Salazar.El objetivo de este artículo es dar a conocer el periódico Portugal Democrático a través de su historia, de su estilo y formato. Se trata de una publicación periódica producida en São Paulo por los exiliados portugueses durante la dictadura de Antônio Salazar (1926-1974). El periódico comenzó a circular en 1956 y dejó de publicarse en 1975, un año después de la Revolución de los Claveles el 25 de abril de 1974. La lucha contra la dictadura salazarista que se llevó a cabo fuera de Portugal fue el motivo de la creación del periódico en Brasil, en la que colaboraron periodistas e intelectuales brasileños. Este trabajo analiza el periódico tanto en el aspecto político como en el editorial. Una de las conclusiones principales es la gran relevancia que el periódico tuvo más allá de su rol informativo, formando parte del movimiento internacional de oposición y resistencia al régimen dictatorial de Salazar.

In this paper we investigate the interpretant signs production during mathematical modelling activities development. The theoretical framework is based on the relationship between mathematical modelling and some elements of the semiotics structured by Charles Sanders Peirce, more specifically in his interpretant theory. This theoretical framework is associated with an empirical research in which modelling activities are developed by students of a Degree in Mathematics in a differential and integral calculus subject. The analysis of the activities follows qualitative research directions and leads us to infer that the students produced different interpretant signs when they developed mathematical modelling activities. In the warm up activity development it was possible to identify immediate interpretant signs, while during the follow up activities the students produced dynamic interpretants and some final interpretants for the extreme function values. In general, the interpretant signs give evidence of how the derivative was being used by the students to decide on the existence of maximum or minimum values of a function obtained when they developed mathematical modeling activities.ResumoNeste artigo investigamos a produção de signos interpretantes no desenvolvimento de atividades de modelagem matemática. O quadro teórico em que se fundamenta nossa pesquisa articula a modelagem matemática na Educação Matemática e elementos da semiótica estruturada por Charles Sanders Peirce e reconhecida na literatura como semiótica peirceana, com foco na denominada teoria dos signos interpretantes. As argumentações teóricas são associadas a uma pesquisa empírica em que uma sequência de atividades de modelagem matemática foi desenvolvida com alunos de um curso de licenciatura em matemática na disciplina de cálculo diferencial e integral I. A análise das atividades segue encaminhamentos da pesquisa qualitativa e nos leva a inferir que, na sequência de atividades de modelagem matemática, signos interpretantes imediatos são mais evidentes na atividade de aquecimento, enquanto interpretantes dinâmicos e interpretantes finais podem ser identificados com mais frequência nas atividades de acompanhamento.
