Lower Critical Solution Temperatures of Polybutadiene Solutions
Keyword(s):
Abstract The lower critical solution temperature (LCST) is observed in polymer solvent systems as a rather high temperature above which the solution separates into two phases. This is a relatively recently discovered phenomenon, since it normally occurs above the boiling point of the solvent. Freeman and Rowlinson were apparently the first to report a LCST for hydrocarbon polymers in hydrocarbon solvents.
