Year 2020 brought a huge challenge in business environment all over the world due to COVID-19. India is not an exception and faced similar challenges which impacted heavily on the economy. India has a huge retail market being the second largest populous country in the world with huge potential and young workforce. It is an important factor for the GDP growth of any country. The aim of this paper is to compare the past, present and predict the future economic scenario by considering various factors which majorly impacted the retail market due to COVID-19. A huge transformation observed in the retail business. Buyers’ choices shifted away from local retail purchases to online. Buying behaviour and consumer spending have shifted towards online purchases and also card transactions. India is one of the developing countries having a giant population with restricted resources. Indian perception is usually being traditional approach toward a buying behaviour which is the retail business for shopping as they were familiar with physical shopping patterns. However, due to advanced technology, people were attracted to the virtual world. This also demonstrated the e-commerce business, which steadily enhanced the ecommerce market in India. Additionally, the pandemic crisis, which is widely spread in India and the world, also paves the way for India’s e-commerce business growth and opportunities rather than the retail business. Covid-19 has its worst effect on business worldwide as it changes or influences the nature of the business. The main objective of the study is to comprehensively analyse the impact of covid on the economy with the remarkable concentration of the e-commerce and retailer sector of the business. The paper tries to understand and explore the impact of enhancing e-commerce platforms, steadily capturing the retailer’s business, and reducing the sales bar graph, ignited by the coronavirus pandemic condition were lockdown, social distancing pave the new opportunities for the e-commerce platform. However, bring challenges too to survive in the crisis. The consumer avoids going for physical shopping in the crowded area because of the pandemic outburst and its aftereffects. This is also illustrated from the survey conducted to accomplish the motive of the paper through a sample of 143 responders. The outcome reveals the ecommerce objective, which strives for a better opportunity to pave the Indian economic growth.

Purpose The purpose of this paper is to investigate the relationship between national cultural values and retail structure. Design/methodology/approach The authors use a panel data set of 67 countries over the period 1999-2012. Findings The results demonstrate that national cultural values, measured with the World Values Survey’s traditional/secular-rational and survival/self-expression dimensions, affect retail structure. Research limitations/implications While marketing scholars have examined the relationship between demographic and competitive factors and retail structure, there has been a substantial body of anecdotal evidence showing that national culture can also drive retail structure development. In order to enhance the understanding of the relationship between national culture and retail structure, the authors empirically examine the impact of national cultural values on retail structure. Originality/value This study is the first one to empirically examine the impact of national culture on retail structure. The authors thus help advance retail structure research the primary focus of which has been on investigating the impact of demographic and competitive factors on retail structure. This study is especially relevant to international retail managers who coordinate retail operations in multiple countries around the world. These managers need insight into the impact of national cultural values on retail structure in order to devise effective retail strategies for each host market.

Foreign Direct Investment (FDI) in retail has recently generated tremendous high spirits for a few and concern for others. It is supported that it will open floodgates for foreign retailers to speculate and can modification the retail landscape forever in India. FDI in retailing is much talked concerning subject by politician, media, trade specialist and industry experts. The Indian Retail market particularly the small Kirana store is not so well known by the actual means of FDI. The views given by politicians on the topic are terribly numerous and changes from party to party and person to person that has supplementary confusion in mind of those individuals. Retailing in Indiais the pillar of economy and accounts for about 22 percent of its GDP. The Indian retail sector is estimated to be US $500 billion and one of the top five retail markets in the world. India is the fastest growing retail markets in the world with 1.2 billion people.The Retail Business in India is presently at the point of inflection. As of 2008, speedy amendments with investments of US $ 25 billion were being planned by many Indian international firms within the next 5 years. To avoid risks, consumers tend to be failry thoughtful decision makers. Research has shown that consumers perceive risks associated with purchasing online and as a result online purchasing has not yet reached the numbers that were projected. In order for e-commerce to live up to its full potential, online retailers should gain an understanding of which perceived risks online purchasing consumers are most concerned with. This study aimed to assess the impact of perceived risk on online buying behaviour. Personal interview surveys were conducted in an emerging market whereby 200 respondents that have access to the internet were interviewed in selected malls with regards to their perceived risks when buying online. The results showed that perceived risk does have an impact on online buying behaviour, and that consumers that have not bought online in the past are likely not to do so in the future. The results show that characteristics of emerging markets are sufficiently distinct from developed markets in that consumers in developed markets seem to be more conservative when buying online. Marketers should therefore developed alternative marketing programs when communicating to these markets in an attempt to persuade consumers to buy online.

In today's chaotic, complex, unpredictable, and extremely dynamic business environment, it is more than ever essential to operate in a way that will ensure sustainable operations and demand for companies’ goods or services. Employing contemporary corporate governance, advanced information technology, and adequate financial management are significant foundations for sustaining high profitability and adequate financial stability as crucial objectives that ensure adding value for companies' owners. Covid-19 is an excellent stress test for every entity, as for micro-companies, so for the largest multinational corporations. Nowadays, in the era of the world Covid-19 pandemic, companies challenge to maintain business operations and going concern assumption. However, in every crisis or adverse situation, some companies take enormous benefits of it. Pharmaceutical and biotechnology companies can be characterized as the major players during this last, still actual crisis. Their role can be observed from two angles, first as a provider of necessary drugs for curing Covid-19 patients and from the other side, as a developer of effective and efficient vaccine which will ‘save the world’ and brought us back to the ‘old normal’. This paper seeks to investigate financial determinants that are the most significant for the profitability of the pharmaceutical and biotechnology companies. The question is how those companies coped with the Covid-19 crisis, and what is the impact on their profitability in 2020 compared to previous operating years? Another question is how is the development of the vaccine financed and are R&D expenses significantly increased in 2020? Therefore, the objective of the paper is to investigate the impact of the Covid-19 crisis on the profitability of global pharmaceutical and biotechnology companies. The research covers 52 entities on the global level for the period from 2010 to 2020. Data will be analysed by applying adequate panel data analysis and moderator regression analysis. Not only macroeconomic growth scenarios and forecasts but also business environment assessments and development forecasts have changed as a result of the worldwide COVID-19 pandemic. Many of the forecasts are based on objective data on the performance of economic sectors; however, some of them are based on business perceptions or business sentiment assessments. There is no doubt that these perceptions and business sentiment assessments differ within business sectors and according to size of the company, regional location and type of business. The aim of the research is to identify and provide an assessment of the business environment development perceptions in the COVID-19 situation in Latvia and compare them with business sentiment assessments from other countries. Specific tasks of the research: to collect information on business environment changes in Latvia in the COVID-19 situation; to compile business perceptions of the impact of COVID-19 on the business environment in the world and in Latvia; to identify the perceptions of the business environment in the most important business sectors in Latvia. Methods: monographic, data grouping, logical construction and mathematical and statistical analysis. The research identified business environment changes in business sectors in Latvia under COVID-19’s influence and business perceptions of the impact of COVID-19 on the business environment for the next 6 months. Based on the research, the authors have drawn conclusions about the future development of the business environment and have identified the sectors that will be negatively affected by the COVID-19 crisis in the coming months.

Poverty is one of the main issues faced by countries across the world. Over the last three decades, governments and international organizations such as the World Bank, the IMF, etc. have been trying to reduce poverty. Despite this, today almost 2.5 billion people are still living in poverty. Entrepreneurship is often seen as a way to reduce poverty. Moreover, the role of entrepreneurship facilitators is very important in creating a suitable business environment for entrepreneurs which increases the capacity of entrepreneurial activities. The purpose of this thesis is to provide an insight into how entrepreneurial activity and entrepreneurship facilitators (Government, Incubators, and Financial Institutions) help in improving the business environment in all countries and hence in poverty alleviation, examining the impact in case of high-income, high medium-income, medium-income, low-income countries and, as a result, reduce poverty. To investigate this, the Human Development Index (HDI) has been used to measure poverty. Secondary data for Entrepreneurship (Entrepreneurial Facilitators, Entrepreneurial Activities, and Economic Factors) and Poverty (HDI)) from the period of 2005 to 2016 are used for high-income countries, high medium-income countries, medium-income countries and low-income countries. The study has found that there is a positive and significant relationship between entrepreneurial activity and the changes in Human Development Index (HDI) in all countries studied over the 12 years period. It also finds that the presence of good entrepreneurial facilitators improves the capacity of entrepreneurial activity which reduces poverty as measured by the HDI. It adds to the body of knowledge by using HDI as a new tool to analyze the impact of entrepreneurial activity country wise. It also suggests that governments need to make better business related regulations which will motivate entrepreneurs and create ease of business doing. Finally it suggests that trade openness bring foreign investments in a country which create employment for people.

In the current era of the transition of technology, there have been changes in the way purchases are made by physical stores, but nowadays consumers are increasingly using online purchases that can be made anywhere. However, limited attention was paid to study the behaviour of online purchases which mainly focuses on young consumers in Kota Bharu, Kelantan. Therefore, using a quantitative approach, the currentpreliminaryresearchwas aimed atevaluating the soundness and consistency of the instruments used tomeasure the risk perception factors of online buying behaviour in Kota Bharu. A total of 100 samples were analysed using SPSS statistical software version 24. Precedingthe result, content and face validity, reliability, and normality data were checked by an expert. The result of the pilot study indicated that the measuring tools are consistentto be usedin this research, since rational normality has been proven by the data. In the article the influence of globalist processes, widely developing in nowadays world, are analyzed. Because of that the art becomes to be a tool of reach countries to have the right of domination in a world space. Authors argue about positive and negative sides of globalization in this text. The main objective of this paper to analyze in detail the impact of globalization on the world economy. The paper presents the analysis of the nature of the process of globalization in the modern world. Globalization has been analyzed in the following interdependent aspects: economic, territorial. Here are main reasons of globalization. The paper presents two main directions to define of globalization in terms of the behavior of nation-states in the global geopolitical environment. The paper presents the positive and negative influences of globalization on the world economy and national economies in the world. Special attention is paid to the problems associated with globalization for the different states. Globalisation is an incessant process, which lasts a lot of years, but problems, associated with it. Autor dispute among themselves about globalisation and can't create a single definition of this process. Autor argue about positive and negative sides of globalisation in this text. Necessity of formation of uniform economic, legal, information and technological space for realization of free and effective enterprise activity of all subjects of managing has led the Ukrainian economy to to transformation of integration economic processes in a new system condition - globalization of economic communications.
