The main purpose of the study is to investigate the causes of anxiety which effect among the students of English language at secondary level. The data has been collected from the 100 students of secondary level of public schools using a survey questionnaire comprised of 24 items. There are 18 towns in Karachi for this study; as a sample frame New town was selected. The total of particepants100 as the samples size was selected through purposive sampling group of 50 female and 50 male students from public schools. All dimensions are reliable, it is confirmed by reliability analysis. The adopted questioner grouping has been confirmed by the outcomes of the factor analysis. One sample test also shows the significant difference. At last, the regression analysis indicates a significant relationship between student language learning anxiety, classroom environment, the teacher’s role and test anxiety. The research suggests a strong intervention by the second language teachers to provide a conducive environment to the students. The teacher must try their level best to create an effective teaching learning process and the teacher training institutions should teach the strategies to reduce the test anxiety among the students.

The dramatic advancement technologies, particularly mobile applications, have influenced the education sector. The integration of mobile applications in education to change the teaching-learning process has taken place and led to innovative learning, including English language learning. Hence, this study aimed to find out the students’ perceptions and the factors influencing students’ perceptions toward the use of mobile application in learning English particularly speaking. To reach the objectives, this study used case study as the research method. The data were collected mainly through interview and observation. The participants were five vocational school students in Surakarta, Central Java, Indonesia. They were purposively selected because they had been familiar with mobile application and they had been taught speaking English using mobile application by their teacher, so that they could give adequate information.  The research findings showed positive perception from the students toward the use of Learn English Conversation application in learning speaking. They declared that the use of Learn English Conversation application could facilitate them in practicing speaking, bring fun and enjoyable learning during the learning process. Moreover, their positive perceptions were influenced by several factors such as the flexibility and the new learning experience given by the mobile application, the ease to run the mobile application and unrequired a lot of internet quota when the students run the mobile application.

Nowadays English language plays a crucial role in every field of educational institutes in Pakistan. It is considered as the base of education because the entire scientific studies are in English. The topic of this research paper is impact of teacher-Learner rapport on L2 learning. In today’s civilization having positive teacher-student rapport is more vital than ever before. The purpose of my research paper is to know learners’ point of view about impact of teacher-learner rapport on second language learning. Total 209 participants were selected through random sampling. There are three main public sector universities in Jamshoro, Sindh and among those universities I have selected UoSJ and MUET. The data was conducted quantitatively thus Kendall's tau-b correlation coefficient a nonparametric test was applied to measure the correlation between impact of teacher-learner rapport on second language learning proficiency. The study findings clearly depict that there is strong positive relationship between rapports and second language learning. Undoubtedly for successful learning and teaching outcomes, it is very essential to create rapport for positive classroom environment which provides the enormous opportunities and appropriate conditions to enhance and improve students’ classroom performance in L2 learning. Therefore, at higher/ tertiary level education, teaching and learning environment requires more attention on teacher-learner rapport because at this level learners are more aware and mature enough to understand the ways teacher behaves that directly impacts on leaner’s psychological nurturing and willful leaning.

The objective of this paper is to explore one of the aspects of the problem of the use of information communication technologies in English as a Second Language teaching and learning. There has been studies on the effectiveness of computer dictionaries and encyclopedias in teaching and learning English language as well as the attitude of school English teachers to the application of computerbased inquiry software that are considered to be new in Kazakhstani comprehensive education. This article argues that computer dictionaries and encyclopedias contribute to development of English language learning by providing a teacher and a learner with a didactic tool for free access to a variety of materials, comfortable information search opportunities, and communication as well. The study that was conducted in Karaganda city high school, Kazakhstan, shows that the computer dictionaries and encyclopedias motivate school students to learn English language more enthusiastically. <p><em>In general, the objective of learning English language in Malaysian education system is to ensure the students can use English in their daily basis, to further study and for the workplace. The main purpose of English course in Polytechnics is to ensure the students are able to communicate effectively and confidently. Therefore, the students should be able to understand the language and use it with confident in their daily lives and for their future employment. However, most of the students are reluctant to communicate in English and many of them prefer to withdraw from participating in any English language activities. The reason for this issue might be due to the feeling of anxiety in learning the second language. Hence, this study aimed to investigate the language proficiency differences between above average and below average students with respect to language learning anxiety. There were 96 semester three students from Civil Engineering Department, Politeknik Sultan Mizan Zainal Abidin participated in this study. SPSS version 22 has been used to analyses collected data consists of a 33 item questionnaire of Foreign Language Classroom Anxiety Scale (FLCAS).  The t-test has been used to determine if there was a significant difference between above average and below average students in regard of language learning anxiety. The study revealed that below average students were more anxious than above average students for all types of anxiety. However, t-test demonstrated that there was no significant difference between language learning anxiety in regard of students’ level of proficiency. Thus, several implications have been suggested in this study to help the below average students to cater language learning anxiety. One of the examples is by conducting an English Camp for the targeted students serves as an effective method to cope language learning anxiety among below average students.</em></p>

The aim of this study is to determine the effect of visual teaching material and resources in the development of Speaking Skills in the English language in Secondary level students in India. In the study, the experimental design with pre-test and post-test control groups was chosen. The research consisted of 82 secondary-level students. In order to collect the data, pre-test, post-test, speech axiom, and interview forms were prepared, and a t-test was used in the analysis of the data. The interviews were conducted with open-ended questions on the research topic and results were interpreted according to their percentages and frequency values. According to the results obtained from the data, a statistically significant difference was found between the mean achievement of the students using visual teaching materials and using written-visual teaching materials. The result suggests the use of written-visual teaching materials. The data obtained from the interview also supported these results. Therefore, visual teaching materials should be chosen appropriately by language teachers and should be carried into the classroom environment. It is recommended that visual teaching materials be presented with written support, as it facilitates reminding and provides the opportunity to learn with permanent marks.

Students in Malaysian Polytechnics must enrol in a second language course as one of the compulsory courses offered by the institution. There is no placement test for polytechnics students to enrol in English language class. Therefore, students with different level of proficiency are mixed together in a classroom to learn English language. Consequently, students encountered difficulties in learning the second language due to feeling of anxiety. Hence, the aim of this study was to determine the correlation between students’ language learning anxiety and their language proficiency. This study involved of 96 semester three students from Civil Engineering Department, Politeknik Sultan Mizan Zainal Abidin which have been chosen randomly. A 33 item questionnaire of Foreign Language Classroom Anxiety Scale (FLCAS) was analysed using SPSS 22. The study revealed that the students experienced moderate level of language learning anxiety. Correlations – Spearman Test was used to determine the relationship between students’ second language learning anxiety and language proficiency. Three types of anxiety was tested which are Test Anxiety, Communication Apprehension and Fear of Negative Evaluation. Correlations – Spearman Test demonstrated that only Test Anxiety showed significant relationship with students’ language proficiency. Several implications have been discussed to offer suggestions to the lecturers in dealing with students learning anxiety. Lecturers should be careful in correcting students’ error to avoid students feel humiliated. This is because students tend to feel anxious whenever lecturers correct their mistakes in the classroom. A further research should be carried out by using two approaches; qualitative and quantitative and adds more variables such as attitude and motivation towards learning a second language.

One major part of language learning pedagogy includes identifying and rectifying discrepancies while communicating through the target language. In such educational settings, the importance of understanding learners’ errors becomes undeniable for both the pupil and pedagogue. Keeping this in forefront, the current investigation sampled two-hundred and ten emails jotted down by ESL (‘English as a Second Language’) students to their teachers. This comparative investigation divided the learners’ emails into two groups; First Semester and Fourth Semester, enrolled in MA English at COMSATS Institute of Information Technology, Virtual Campus, Islamabad. Utilizing Corder’s Model (1967) and Sawalmeh’s Categorization (2013), the emails were scrutinized and the results established that selected Pakistani learners commit nine different errors regularly in their electronic mail communiqué. Moreover, these outputs were comparatively studied utilizing the statistical software of SPSS (Version 16.0). These results highlighted a significant difference between the two semesters, which revealed a considerable reduction of errors in the learners’ language use as they move from first to fourth semester of the prescribed degree program. Additionally, Richards’ framework (1974) for deciphering source of learners’ errors was employed, which depicted that the first semester students’ first language (Urdu) frequently interferes when they use the second language (English) in writing emails. Meanwhile, the fourth semester students’ language errors majorly contained deviant structures or ignorance of target language’s (English) rules. Considering these findings, the study proposes similar studies to be conducted on other institutes’ pupils and also recommends practical methodologies like corrective feedback for teachers, in aiding learners to fortify their command on English language.

This paper presents the effect of robotics assisted language learning (RALL) on the vocabulary learning and retention of Iranian English as foreign language (EFL) junior high school students in Tehran, Iran. After taking a vocabulary pre-test, 46 beginner level female students at the age of 12, studying in their first year of junior-high participated in two groups of RALL (30 students) and non-RALL (16 students) in this study. The textbook used was the English book (Prospect-1) devised by the Iranian Ministry of Education for 7th graders, and the vocabulary taught and tested (pre-test and post-test) were taken from this book. Moreover, the treatment given by a teacher accompanied by a humanoid robot assistant in the RALL group took about five weeks in which half of the book was covered, and the non-RALL group was taught in a traditional method. Finally, the teacher administered the post-test and delayed post-test whose results of repeated measures ANOVA and Two Ways ANOVA indicated that there was a significant difference regarding participants' vocabulary gain and retention in RALL group comparing to non-RALL group. In addition, the teacher reported the students' positive reaction to RALL in learning vocabulary. Overall, the results revealed that RALL has been very influential in creating an efficient and pleasurable English learning environment. This study has some implications for technology-based education, language teaching, and social robotics fields.

Acquiring correct second language pronunciation is an indispensable part of the language learning process. It plays a substantial role in enhancing the communicative competence and performance of second language learners. The learning of pronunciation is a very sensitive and complicated aspect of the English language classroom. However, all English language learners are not equally good in learning pronunciation. The aim of this research is to explore the factors which affect the pronunciation of English language learners. Theories, empirical evidence, and personal observations are discussed in this study which classifies the factors affecting pronunciation into two types, that is, inner and outer factors. Inner factors include age, brain, aptitude, types of learners and goals. Outer factors include first language interference, motivation, types of teachers and teaching methodologies, classroom environment, and institutional variables. This research is significant because it highlights the importance of acquiring pronunciation of the second language. Moreover, it provides an insight to language teachers and learners which allows them to critically understand the factors which affect the pronunciation of English as a second language as well as to reflect on their own learning and teaching methodologies. This research is qualitative and descriptive in nature. To support the arguments presented in this research, the researcher sought help form primary source books, personal observations and empirical studies, as well as secondary source research articles, journals and reviews. In conclusion, this study also gives some suggestions to teach pronunciation in the English language classroom.

Abstract—In Pandemic situation students forced to deal with learning in 4.0 era. This era demanding student to be active in learning process. Thus, students’ factor, take control result of teaching learning beyond all kind of learning model that was presented in any research. Intrinsic motivation is one of many factors that can impact on success or failure for a complex challenge. With high motivation students could looking for many ways to get their goals. It is very affected when students have good motivation to study English as a new skill for them. In Indonesia exclusively, English is a foreign language. In a public senior high school mostly English just 4 hours per-weeks and it is less than enough to improve Students English skill, so here motivation take important part to make sure they could find another way to improve their English Skill in the condition that could not support their needs. Therefore, the purpose of this research to investigate how effective intrinsic motivation on English language learning among secondary school students. The data were collected through observational field notes, questionnaire and test of English competency. The researcher expected this research can give overview about students’ language learning process and outcomes.
