This paper deals with the study of the thermal radiation and chemical reaction effects on an unsteady MHD free convective mass transfer flow past an accelerated infinite vertical plate embedded in a porous medium. The Rosseland approximation is used to describe the radiative heat flux in the energy equation. The dimensionless governing equations of motion are solved by using Laplace transform technique in closed form. Expressions for the velocity, temperature and concentration are obtained. The resulting velocity and temperature profiles as well as the skin-friction, rate of heat and mass transfer are shown graphically for different values of the physical parameters viz., Grashof number, Prandtl number, Schmidt number, Chemical reaction parameter, Radiation parameter, Magnetic parameter and Porosity parameter.

Abstract An exact solution of an unsteady flow past a parabolic starting motion of an infinite vertical plate with variable temperature and mass diffusion, in the presence of a homogeneous chemical reaction of first order has been studied. The plate temperature as well as concentration level near the plate are raised linearly with time t. The dimensionless governing equations are solved using the Laplace-transform technique. The effects of velocity profiles are studied for different physical parameters such as the chemical reaction parameter, thermal Grashof number, mass Grashof number, Schmidt number and time. It is observed that the velocity increases with increasing values of the thermal Grashof number or mass Grashof number. The trend is just reversed with respect to the chemical reaction parameter.

Theoretical study of unsteady flow past an exponentially accelerated infinite isothermal vertical plate with variable mass diffusion has been presented in the presence of homogeneous chemical reaction of first order. The plate temperature is raised to Tw and species concentration level near the plate is made to rise linearly with time. The dimensionless governing equations are solved using Laplace-transform technique. The velocity profiles are studied for different physical parameters like chemical reaction parameter, thermal Grashof number, mass Grashof number, a and time. It is observed that the velocity increases with increasing values of a or t. But the trend is just reversed with respect to K.

The objective of this paper is to analyze an unsteady MHD free convective heat and mass transfer boundary flow past a semi-infinite vertical porous plate immersed in a porous medium with radiation and chemical reaction. The governing equations of the flow field are solved numerical a two term perturbation method. The effects of the various parameters on the velocity, temperature and concentration profiles are presented graphically and values of skin-frication coefficient, Nusselt number and Sherwood number for various values of physical parameters are presented through tables.

This paper presents an analysis of combined heat and mass transfer flow past an oscillating vertical plate under the action of radiation effects and chemical reaction when heat is supplied to the plate at constant rate. The governing equations are solved in closed form by Laplace-transform technique. The results are obtained for temperature, concentration, velocity, skin friction, Nusselt number, and Sherwood number. The effects of various parameters on flow variables are illustrated graphically, and the physical aspects of the problem are discussed.

AbstractAn investigation of unsteady hydromagnetic natural convection heat and mass transfer flow of an electrically conducting, viscous, incompressible and optically thick radiating fluid past an impulsively moving infinite vertical plate embedded in a uniform porous medium in a rotating system with Hall effects in the presence of homogeneous first order chemical reaction is carried out when temperature of the plate has a temporarily ramped profile. Exact solution of the governing equations is obtained in closed form by Laplace transform technique. Expressions for skin friction due to primary and secondary flows and Nusselt number are derived for both ramped temperature and isothermal plates. Expression for Sherwood number is also derived. The numerical values of primary and secondary fluid velocities, fluid temperature and species concentration are displayed graphically whereas those of skin friction are presented in tabular form for various values of pertinent flow parameters. In order to highlight the influence of ramped temperature distribution within the plate on the flow-field, the fluid flow past a ramped temperature plate is compared with the one past an isothermal plate.

Abstract An exact solution of an unsteady radiative flow past a uniformly accelerated infinite vertical plate with variable temperature and mass diffusion is presented here, taking into account the homogeneous chemical reaction of first order. The plate temperature as well as concentration near the plate is raised linearly with time. The dimensionless governing equations are solved using the Laplace-transform technique. The velocity, temperature and concentration fields are studied for different physical parameters such as the thermal Grashof number, mass Grashof number, Schmidt number, Prandtl number, radiation parameter, chemical reaction parameter and time. It is observed that the velocity increases with increasing values of the thermal Grashof number or mass Grashof number. But the trend is just reversed with respect to the thermal radiation parameter. It is also observed that the velocity increases with the decreasing chemical reaction parameter

A parametric study to investigate the effect of chemical reaction parameter on an MHD mixed convective mass transfer flow of an incompressible viscous electrically conducting fluid past an infinite vertical porous plate. The equations of motion are work out by assuming Laplace Transform approach. The velocity profile, temperature, concentration, viscous drag, Nusselt number and the rate of mass transfer are discussed graphically by assuming some arbitrary criterion given in the present paper and physical descriptions are made. It is emphasized from the graphical portion that chemical species retards the fluid flow
