Emotional Intelligence (EI) has been established as an essential component in success, along with Intelligence Quotient (IQ). Emotional Intelligence is vital in making or maintaining Job Engagement (JE). Dealing with different emotions daily, nurses with low EI are prone to compassion fatigue and job disengagement. Job engagement is essential in ensuring that the quality of care rendered is high, and the patient’s safety is guaranteed. Emotional Intelligence plays a vital role in making sure that nurses have a sense of purpose and, in turn, making them more engaged in their daily duties and responsibilities. Hence, this paper describes the level of Emotional Intelligence and Job Engagement of Nurses in Level 1 District Hospitals in Negros Occidental. Likewise, it explores the relationship between Emotional Intelligence and Job Engagement of nurses’ demographics and the factors that made them stay in the nursing service. Also, it determines the correlation of EI and JE of nurses; and whether EI affects the level of JE.

Nurses’ job engagement could help improve the quality of nursing services, and person-centered nursing is expected to play an important role in this relationship. However, little is known about the role of person-centered nursing in the association between job engagement and quality of nursing services. This study examines the moderating and mediating effects of person-centered nursing on the relationship between the job engagement and the quality of nursing services in Korean nurses. In October 2020, 200 hospital nurses were surveyed at three university hospitals. The moderating and mediating effects of person-centered nursing were determined using hierarchical regression analysis. There was a significant positive correlation between job engagement, person-centered nursing, and quality of nursing services. Person-centered nursing was found to have a mediating and moderating role in the relationship between job engagement and quality of nursing service. In conclusion, in the impact of job engagement on the quality of nursing service, it plays a buffering role, and the job engagement of nurses improves the quality of nursing services through improvement of person-centered nursing. Therefore, this study recommends the development and implementation of an educational program to foster person-centered nursing in order to improve the quality of nursing services.

(1) Background: Academic engagement has been reported in the literature as an important factor in the academic achievement of university students. Other factors such as emotional intelligence (EI) and resilience have also been related to students’ performance and quality of life. The present study has two clearly delimited and interrelated objectives. First, to study the mediational role that engagement plays in the relationship between EI and resilience on quality of life. Secondly, and similarly, to study the mediational role of engagement in the relationship between EI and resilience, but in this case on academic achievement. (2) Methods: For this purpose, four scales frequently used in the literature to measure emotional intelligence, resilience, academic engagement and quality of life were administered to 427 students of the University of Jaén undertaking education degrees. In addition, students were asked to indicate their current average mark as a measure of academic performance. Two mediational models based on structural equations were proposed to analyse the relationships between the proposed variables. (3) Results: The results obtained showed that emotional intelligence and resilience directly predicted students’ life satisfaction, but this direct relationship did not result in academic performance. In addition, and assuming a finding not found so far, engagement was shown to exert an indirect mediational role for both life satisfaction and academic performance of students. (4) Conclusions: The findings of the study support the importance of engagement in the design and development of instructional processes, as well as in the implementation of any initiative.

Emotional intelligence plays a critical role in adolescence since it involves a change towards psychological, social, and sexual maturity; a stage in which the foundations of intimate social relationships are established. Emotional competences regulate the quality of these relationships in adolescence and can provide protection against or facilitate the use of violence within them. Based on the above, this study aims to analyze the relationship between emotional intelligence and violence exercised, received, and perceived by adolescents in dating relationships. A sample of 254 subjects (43.1% men and 56.9% women) between 12 and 18 years old was analyzed through the Emotional Intelligence Questionnaires of BarOn ICE:NA and Violence Exercised Perceived and Received by Adolescents VERA. The results of the research have shown that there is a significant and inverse relation between the dimensions of emotional intelligence and the violence exercised by adolescents in their dating relationships, and a positive and significant relation between emotional intelligence and the perception of violent behavior. For this reason, the importance of educating people about emotional intelligence from childhood within both the academic and family sphere is highlighted. This is fundamental to preventing the appearance of such violent behaviors and promoting an adequate adaptation to the environment.

Globally, close to 50% of the professionals working with traumatised individuals have issues related to compassion fatigue. In Uganda, although compassion fatigue is prevalent among psychotherapists, there is limited evidence of relationship between emotional intelligence and compassion fatigue. This study set out to fill this gap. Data were collected from a random sample of 207 psychotherapists working in Northern Uganda, who completed Emotional Competency Inventory version-2.0 and Professional Quality of Life version-5 questionnaires. Chi-square and Fischer’s exact tests were used to analyse the data. Findings revealed that all the four elements of emotional intelligence (social awareness, self-awareness, self-management, and social skills) were inversely related to levels of compassion fatigue and were statistically significant at p < .0001. The study recommended that organisations offering psychotherapy services could focus on building emotional intelligence of their psychotherapists. Increasing emotional intelligence of psychotherapists is necessary to enable them deal more effectively, with their feelings and thus directly decrease the level of compassion fatigue thereby protecting their mental and physical health.

Organizational citizenship behaviors are not directly rewarded by organizations. However, they seem to contribute to excellent performance at work. The aim of this study is to test quality of working life’s (QoWL) mediating role in the relationship between emotional intelligence (EI) and organizational citizenship behaviors (OCB). 203 French adults working regularly in teams completed validated self-report measures corresponding to each construct. The collected data showed that in the studied sample, a high quality of working life was associated with Sportsmanship behaviors. However, mediation was not observed for the other OCB subscales: Altruism, Helping, or Civic virtues. These behaviors tend to occur in individuals with high emotional intelligence scores, unrelated to their quality of working life. Theoretical background, practical implications, and limitations of the study are discussed.

Background: Quality of life plays a vital role to improve the life satisfaction of an individual. The increase in quality of life is related to the increase of subjective life satisfaction. There is an existing relationship between quality of life and life satisfaction for persons with alcohol dependence (Frisch et al., 2000). Aim: The aims of the present study was to assess and examine the relationship between Quality of life and life satisfaction among persons with alcohol dependence. Methodology: A total number 30 respondents with alcohol dependence syndrome were taken by using a purposive sampling technique. The samples were collected from MHI (COE), SCBMCH, Cuttack IPD and OPD. The scales such as WHOQOL-BREF questionnaire and Life Satisfaction were administered. Result: In this present study it was found that the persons with alcohol dependence scored the poor quality of life in all domains of WHO QOL, as well as life satisfaction scale and also statistically positive significant co-relationbetween quality of life and life satisfaction among persons with alcoholdependence.

Communication network plays a vital role in smart substations. Different network topology provides different network performance, while the quality of network performance directly impacts the reliability of the entire system. In view of the network topology of smart substations, this paper compares the advantages and disadvantages of different network topologies as well as different network schemes of substation layer and process layer, and also analyzes the relationship between the reliability of network system and network topology, which play an important role in establishing a reliable and efficient smart substation system.
