This paper addresses the context in which a national accreditation framework is being established in Zambia. It also outlines the role the Higher Education Authority plays in coordinating this national effort. This paper is informed by two primary data sources. The first is a review of current literature, policy documentation, and other publication outlets online. A second source examines optimal accreditation agency examples in-depth. Challenges and opportunities are discussed within the Zambian context, including recommendations on how to help overcome each challenge and capitalize opportunities.

The purpose of this study was to analyze the challenges and opportunities of Indonesian blind masseurs in improving competency through the implementation of the business standards of massage parlor. The research method is a descriptive-qualitative, theoretical approach on competency in human resource management. Primary data sources selected by purposive sampling. The informants involved were representatives of blind massage entrepreneurs. Secondary data sources in this study is PERMENPAR No.20 of 2015 concerning Business Standards of Massage Parlor. Data analysis techniques by means of data triangulation. The results of the study indicate the challenges faced by the blind masseurs namely: 1) requirements of massage business licenses have not been fulfilled; 2) aspects of the organization, management, and human resources have not been maximized. Increasing the competency of the masseur as a traditional health practitioner is an innovation, and it can extend their opportunities to work in the center of public health and hospitals.   Keywords: competency, standards, blind, masseur

This research describes the status of accounting ethics course in accounting undergraduate program curriculum in Indonesia, which is based on the data available from the National Accreditation Agency for Higher Education website. The sample consists of 60 programs which have an accreditation status of A and the status is not expired yet. The result suggests that the majority of the programs offer an accounting-specific course and only a few of them have two stand-alone course on ethics in their curriculum. Not much differences are found regarding the naming of the course. Variations are observed regarding the course placement, nature of the course and the required prerequisites. Suggestions given include covering accounting ethics topic in the curriculum, preferably in a stand-alone course, or integrating it into other courses if a stand-alone one is not feasible and making sure that the learning outcomes related to accounting ethics are actually covered.

This research discusses the evaluation of operational, organizational and public leadership by the Faculty Board and Department of the Faculty of XYZ University. The evaluation of effective leadership here refers to the assessment of National Accreditation Agency for Higher Education (NAAHE) in Indonesia. Effective leadership in this sense is leadership that combines three characteristics, namely effectiveness of operational leadership, organizational leadership and public leadership. Descriptive analysis based on data from a questionnaire was employed in this exploratory research. Both academics and non-academics of the Faculty of XYZ University were involved as respondents. The questionnaire was distributed to 69 academics and 27 non-academics. Findings show that the assessment capability of the Dean and Department Coordinator is considered good, and so are their roles and the lecturers’ motivation. Another assessment on the capability of the head of administration division, heads of sub-divisions is also considered good, and so are their roles and the staff’s motivation. Therefore, it is expected that all of the boards are able to maintain and organise activities for both the staff and the lecturers. This article explores the anatomical characteristics of the Islamic Education Curriculum based on personal and community development in General Higher Education in Indonesia. This research is a qualitative study, words or actions of people observed and interviewed are the main data sources. The primary data sources of this study were elements of faculty leaders, heads of study programs, students, and lecturers of Islamic Religious Education. This study illustrates how the anatomical characteristics of Islamic Higher Education of General Islamic Education curriculum support strengthening personal and community development.  The research findings show that the learning achievements of graduates, the content and teaching materials, the learning process or learning experience, and the assessment model illustrated in the curriculum structure, strongly support the development of responsibilities as individuals of Allah's servants and as Khalifah fi al-ardh. The aspect of personal development is the aspect of tathwir al-nafsi in the form of individual monotheism which includes the teaching of Islamic belief, strengthening of mahdhah and others. The aspect of tathwir al-ijetimaiy, illustrated in the strengthening of student social monotheism in the form of al-amr bi al-makruf wa al-nahy an al-mungkar, the human concept as caliph, democracy, science, technology, art, harmony, civil society, welfare, religious people, Islamic culture, Islamic political system, and democracy. The learning process is still dominated by increasing the understanding of the propositions, concepts, and theories with the teaching model of information processing. The internalization process through practice with social and humanistic teaching models still needs to be improved.

This study aims to find out, describe and analyze the democratic leadership of the Principal in improving achievement at the Palangka Raya Model State Madrasah (MAN). The research method used is descriptive qualitative. The researcher wanted to describe the Principal's democratic leadership in improving achievement at the Palangka Raya Model State Islamic Senior High School (MAN). Primary data sources (person) are the Principal, Teachers (Teachers) and Students of MAN Model Palangka Raya. Whereas secondary data sources are the data in the Palangka Raya Model MAN and supporting literature. The results of the study show that the Principal's leadership in improving achievement in the Palangka Raya Model MAN is very democratic, this condition can be seen from: (1) Principals are happy to receive suggestions, opinions and even criticism from subordinates both delivered by students and teachers through suggestion boxes and in the teacher council meeting, (2) the Principal always strives to prioritize teamwork cooperation in an effort to achieve the goal by appointing the instructor teacher, trainer teacher and mentor teacher and conducting deliberation in planning, implementing and evaluating activities, (3) the Principal always tries to make subordinates more success than him, which is realized by including teachers in seminars, workshops, training and competitions so that they get achievements both locally and nationally, and (4) Principals always try to develop their personal capacity as good leaders in conceptual skills, human skill and technical skill.

Higher education institutions play a fundamental role in the scientific, economic, social, and cultural development of each and every society. In view of new challenges such as the COVID-19 pandemic, the importance of their social responsibility and ability to effectively communicate the socially–responsible activities which are performed is growing. The aim of this article is to analyze and evaluate the scope and structure of socially-responsible activities communicated on the websites of public higher education institutions operating in a small post-communist country where education plays a traditional role—the Czech Republic, and to formulate recommendations for improvement of the level of communication of social responsibility by higher education institutions. Primary data was obtained using latent analysis of the content of the websites of all public higher education institutions operating in the Czech Republic. The CE3SPA method was applied. The survey which was performed shows that the level of communication of social responsibility by higher education institutions in the Czech Republic is low. Activities in the field of economic and social responsibility are communicated in the greatest scope. On the contrary, activities in the field of environmental responsibility are communicated the least. Public higher education institutions in the Czech Republic should therefore apply the measures proposed in the article, these also being transferrable to practice in other countries.

Developing countries face various challenges in implementing bio-risk management systems in the laboratory. In addition, educational settings are considered as workplaces with biohazard risks. Every activity in a laboratory facility carries many potential hazards that can impact human health and the environment and may cause laboratory incidents, including Laboratory Acquired Infections (LAIs). In an effort to minimize the impact and occurrence of these incidents, it is necessary to evaluate the implementation of a bio-risk management system in every activity that involves handling biological agents. This study was conducted in an Indonesian higher-education institution, herein coded as University Y. This is a descriptive, semi-quantitative study aimed at analysing and evaluating the implementation of the bio-risk management systems used in laboratories by analysing the achievements obtained by each laboratory. The study used primary data that were collected using a checklist which referred to ISO 35001: 2019 on Laboratory Bio-risk Management. The checklist consisted of 202 items forming seven main elements. In addition, secondary data obtained from literature and document review were also used. The results show that out of 11 laboratories examined, only 2 laboratories met 50% of the requirements, which were Laboratory A and B, achieving good performance. Regarding the clauses of standards, a gap analysis identified leadership, performance evaluation, and support as elements with the lowest achievement. Therefore, corrective action should be developed by enhancing the commitment from management as well as improving documentation, policy, education and training.

This article discusses the implementation of wages in agriculture in Nagari Bukit Kandung Subdistrict X Koto Atas, Solok Regency in a review of muamalah fiqh. The type of research is field research (field research). The data sources consist of primary data sources, namely from farmers and farm laborers who were carried out to 8 people and 4 farm workers, while the secondary data were obtained from documents in the form of the Bukit Kandung Nagari Profile that were related to this research, which could provide information or data. Addition to strengthen the primary data. Data collection techniques that the author uses are observation, interviews and documentation. The data processing that the author uses is qualitative. Based on the results of this study, the implementation of wages in agriculture carried out in Nagari Bukit Kandung District X Koto Diatas Solok Regency is farm laborers who ask for their wages to be given in advance before they carry out their work without an agreement to give their wages at the beginning. Because farm laborers ask for their wages to be given at the beginning, many farm workers work not as expected by farmers and there are also farm workers who are not on time to do the work that should be done. According to the muamalah fiqh review, the implementation of wages in agriculture in Nagari Bukit Kandung is not allowed because there is an element of gharar in the contract and there are parties who are disadvantaged in the contract, namely the owner of the fields.

Purpose Higher education institutions (HEIs) should play a fundamental role in achieving the international 2030 sustainable development (SD) agenda. Quality education is the fourth of the sustainable development goals (SDGs), and one of the targets related to this is to ensure that by 2030 all learners acquire the knowledge and skills needed to promote SD. Therefore, the SDGs provide a motive for HEIs to integrate SD concepts into their day-to-day practices. This study aims to introduce a framework for HEIs’ sustainable development assessment. Such a framework guides HEIs and educational leaders to support their countries’ commitments to achieving the SDGs. Design/methodology/approach This paper presents the results of a case study analysis of the role and successful techniques of HEIs in achieving SD in three countries, namely, Germany, Japan and Egypt. Primary data was collected by semi-structured interviews with three Cairo University officials, while secondary data was collected by reviewing the universities' official websites, reports, publications and related papers. This study introduces a novel framework for HEIs' SD analysis and assessment, which guides HEIs and educational leaders to support SD to fulfill their countries' commitments to achieving the SDGs. This framework is based on the following five categories: strategic direction and institutional working practices, supporting students, supporting university staff competencies, supporting society's stakeholders and networking and sustainable campus. Consideration is given to the potential role of HEIs to support SD in each of these areas. Findings Cairo University could learn from the novel and pioneer practices of the Leuphana University of Lüneburg, and the University of Tokyo to fill in the gaps it has in different roles. It can also put more effort into adopting the suggested higher education programs of Egypt's Vision 2030. Research limitations/implications This paper is limited to a case analysis comparing three countries, Germany, Japan and Egypt. Second, this study has not considered school education, which is equally essential in countries' SD. Practical implications HEIs can use the framework and the findings in this paper to evaluate their current roles in supporting SD, identify the gaps and take actions accordingly to address their weaknesses. Originality/value The paper compares three universities, one in each of the case study countries. It draws conclusions that identify ways in which the paper's framework and findings can guide SD practice in HEIs internationally, especially those in the developing world.
