Abstract. The coastal observation system COSYNA aims to describe the physical and biogeochemical state of a regional coastal system. The COSYNA data management is the link between observations, model results and data usage. The challenge for the COSYNA data management CODM is the integration of diverse data sources in terms of parameters, dimensionality and observation methods to gain a comprehensive view of the observations. This is achieved by describing the data using metadata in a generic way and by making all gathered data available for different analyses and visualisations in an interrelated way, independent of data dimensionality. Different parameter names for the same observed property are mapped to the corresponding CF standard name leading to standardised and comparable metadata. These metadata together with standardised web services are the base for the data portal.

These metadata together with standardised web services are the base for the data portal. The URLs of these web services are also stored within the metadata as direct data access URLs, e.g. a map such as a GetMap request.

Regular users and enterprises are now increasingly dependent on web services. This growing dependence on one hand has simplified routine tasks, but on the other hand it has resulted in loss of direct control over the data. Nevertheless, both users and enterprises require simplified and generic solutions to access their data. The classical mediation approach from the data integration field provides a uniform query interface to diverse data sources hiding the underlying heterogeneity. But using this approach over multiple heterogeneous and autonomous web services has several open challenges. In this article, we will take a look at some of these challenges that need to be addressed for achieving a fully automated solution.

In January 2019, the US Department of Energy, Office of Science program in Advanced Scientific Computing Research, convened a workshop to identify priority research directions (PRDs) for in situ data management (ISDM). A fundamental finding of this workshop is that the methodologies used to manage data among a variety of tasks in situ can be used to facilitate scientific discovery from many different data sources—simulation, experiment, and sensors, for example—and that being able to do so at numerous computing scales will benefit real-time decision-making, design optimization, and data-driven scientific discovery. This article describes six PRDs identified by the workshop, which highlight the components and capabilities needed for ISDM to be successful for a wide variety of applications—making ISDM capabilities more pervasive, controllable, composable, and transparent, with a focus on greater coordination with the software stack and a diversity of fundamentally new data algorithms.

Medicare uses a pay-for-performance program to reimburse hospitals. One of the key input measures in the performance formula is patient satisfaction with their hospital care. Physicians and hospitals, however, have raised concerns especially about questions related to patient satisfaction with pain management during hospitalization. They report feeling pressured to prescribe opioids to alleviate pain and boost satisfaction survey scores for higher reimbursements. This over-prescription of opioids has been cited as a cause of current opioid crisis in the US. Due to these concerns, Medicare stopped using pain management questions as inputs in its payment formula. We collected multi-year data from six diverse data sources, employed propensity score matching to obtain comparable groups, and estimated difference-in-difference models to show that, in fact, pain management was the only measure to improve in response to pay-for-performance system. No other input measure showed significant improvement. Thus, removing pain management from the formula may weaken the effectiveness of HVBP program at improving patient satisfaction, which is one of the key goals of the program. We suggest two divergent paths for Medicare to make the program more effective.

Abstract Progress on research and innovation in food technology depends increasingly on the use of structured vocabularies - concept schemes, thesauri, and ontologies - for discovering and re-using a diversity of data sources. Here we report on GACS Core, a concept scheme in the larger Global Agricultural Concept Space (GACS), which was formed by mapping between the most frequently used concepts of AGROVOC, CAB Thesaurus, and NAL Thesaurus and serves as a target for mapping near-equivalent concepts from other vocabularies. It provides globally unique identifiers which can be used as keywords in bibliographic databases, tags for web content, for building lightweight facet schemes, and for annotating spreadsheets, databases, and image metadata using synonyms and variant labels in 25 languages. The minimal semantics of GACS allows terms defined with more precision in ontologies, or less precision in controlled vocabularies, to be linked together making it easier to discover and integrate semantically diverse data sources.

AbstrakPokok masalah dalam Penelitian ini mengkaji tentang bagaimana tinjauan hukum Islam terhadap penerapan system wakaf polis menurut fatwa No. 106 DSN-MUI/X/2016 di PT. Prudential Life Assurance Agency Prucahaya Makassar. AbstractThe main problem in this research is reviewing how the review of Islamic law against the managementof the policy waqf system according to fatwaNo. 106 DSN-MUI/X/2016 in PT. Prudential Life Assurance Agency Prucahaya Makassar. This type of research is field research usingqualitativemethods which are carried out with normative theological, sociological and phenomenological approaches with data sources from PT. Prudential Life Assurance Agency Pruchaya Makassar,, then the method of data collection carried out is observation, interview, documentation and literature studies, then data management techniques are carried out through several stages including: data reduction, data management and data validity testing The results of this study show that how the implementation of the policy waqf system in PT. Prudential Life Assurance Agency Prucahaya Makassar there are several elements related to its idalam, namely, the suitability of fatwa rules against the implementation of Sharia Prudential companies that cooperate with waqf institutions in managing funds that are pledged. Conformity of waqf pledge form statement in Prudential Syariah maximum limit in accordance with the provisions of the fatwa on the waqf benefit of 45% and the waqf benefit of 1/3 of the overall wealth or tirkah and the suitability of sharia principles in the waqf contract used in the policy contract using tabarru agreement and using akag wakalah bil ujrah some of the benefits can be wakafkan.
