School dropout is nowadays one of the biggest problems faced by the Romanian education system. School dropout entails prematurely leaving the education system before the compulsory educational stage is over and prior to getting a qualification or professional training. School dropout is triggered by both internal and external factors. Contemporary society no longer considers school important in our personal development as human beings. But how would this society look like if all of us would stop regarding education and culture as fundamental values? Taking into account that education is free, it must be understood as anyone’s right to appropriate abilities, skills, and knowledge needed to find a job and integrate in a group.

The course of the changes in the Bulgarian education system is a direct reflection of the changes in the different structures and institutions in recent years. Among the key areas of refor, the pre-school and school education system has undergone significant changes in structures, models and practices. The personal development process starts from childhood, with the upbringing in the kindergarten, where children get acquainted with the world and themselves. The musical upbringing has an important role for their socialization and formation of social and civic competences. In the pre-school music education curricula developed in accordance with the new SER for educational content and approved by the Ministry of Education and Science, Bulgarian musical folklore as a factor for children's musical, emotional, intellectual and physical development is educational and thematic. The positive aspects of communication between children from the earliest age with its models - the variety of songs and music for performance and perception, movements, folk dances and games - is the basis for the authors of all approved educational materials for the kindergarten in the educational field Music to include it. During the work with Bulgarian musical folklore in the contemporary educational process of music in the kindergarten the musical pedagogue skillfully combines traditional and interactive methods, integrates knowledge, experience and skills with the other educational directions. This greatly encourages unity to be enjoyable and beneficial. Children learn easily about music content in an interesting and entertaining way. Working with musical folklore provides incredible opportunities to develop the individual abilities and interests of each child, while building team skills. The specificity of musical-pedagogical work with folklore in the kindergarten reflects the personal and professional profile of the musical pedagogue, covers both the methods and approaches that the teacher uses in the music education, the acquired knowledge, skills and competences on a professional basis, as well as the personal attitude that the teacher uses to present the Bulgarian musical folklore as a national spiritual value. Building this value in children from pre-school is one of the most important. The professional training of the music pedagogues allows them to gain both knowladge and develop self-discipline. It models the conditions in which the child enriches his personality, forms any kind of culture - ethic, moral, musical, mathematical, ecological, health, physical. In this sense, the figure of the music pedagogue is also a factor and a condition in the process of building the child's personality, as well as the guardian of the national values. In the kindergarten the modern music teacher performs new tasks in the modern educational environment, adopts new criteria for structuring the pedagogical and educational process of music, preserving the individuality and stimulating the creativity of the children. The educational and thematic presence of Bulgarian musical folklore is the basis for understanding these ideas.

The emerging concept of university social responsibility (USR) consists in the fulfillment of the mission of the university in terms of ethical standards, community support, respect for human beings, and respect for the environment. Thus, universities must not only provide professional training but also instill ethical principles in students to allow them to behave as good citizens and help solve community problems. On the other hand, competition for students requires efficient management of university reputation and communication with their stakeholders, to demonstrate the accomplishment of the university’s mission and attract potential students. The objective of this paper is thus to explain the causal relationship between communication about university social responsibility (USR) activities through institutional websites and university selection, as well as the role of reputation. Research work was carried out based on an explanatory cross-sectional design, with a sample of 356 subjects from a population of 11th-grade students from public and private schools in the City of Barranquilla (Colombia). The results revealed that USR communication through institutional websites has a significant influence on university selection, not only directly but also indirectly, through reputation as a mediating variable. These findings contribute at a theoretical level by providing empirical evidence to understand and explain the analyzed topic. Furthermore, the results provide useful information to evaluate USR disclosure and implement strategies to make progress on USR issues.

Vanishing Herds (2011) is Henry Ole Kulet’s novel that hovers around the ecological depletion caused by the anthropocentric attitude of the human beings. Set in the East African Savannah, the novel grapples with the critical issue of anthropogenic environmental degradation. Additionally, the text catalogues the challenges faced by a pastoralist community’s attempt to come to terms with the socio-economic realities of a fast-evolving contemporary society. The paper is an attempt to study this novel under the surveillance of green lens and throw light on the ecological destruction especially the clearing of the forest by human self centered endeavors and to critique the anthropocentric attitude of the human beings that render the environment at the verge of destruction.

We live in such time period when there is a wish to get everything quickly and desirably for free. And, the quicker, the better. This applies to education as well. In fact, it is depreciated. Often it is said, that education does not add wisdom. There is some truth in this statement. If we speak about pseudo education acquired in any way and anywhere, then yes. However, a good, proper education is the outcome of rationality. These are related things, determining each other. It is thought, that today everything is rapidly changing, it is impossible, and there is no need of funda-mental “lifelong” education. This is an illusion, which does not let us see the essence. And a lot do not want and are incapable to see it. Like the house which can’t stand without good foundation, human’s good life is impossible without good education. The same can be said about society as a whole. Educated society is a warrant of state’s prosperity. Knowledge, abilities, values is, indeed, the true foundation of good education. A proper combination of these three components guarantees good education. Moreover, it would be nice if this component would entirely become integrated into given diplomas. Unfortunately, it has to be stated once again, that universities oriented or being oriented only to providing service will never be able to guarantee such integration. Thus, more or less it is agreed on an international level, that our contemporary society is not properly ready for the challenges of the 21st century. “A quick diploma” does not guarantee any-thing, in fact – neither individual nor society progress. Universities, being oriented only to giving “quick diplomas” are condemned. Education is not a game and universities are not “sandpits”. Unfortunately, it makes an im-pression that the number of “sandpits” is increasing, and wishing to play in them are getting more and more. We can be taught by others, but we can get educated only ourselves. An educated man is an independent man, knowing himself and making his own decisions. An educated nation is a na-tion knowing itself, independent and making its own decisions independently. Key words: educated people, education policy, educated nation, university education system.

The results of the work are a description of the basic concepts of the motivation of the future teacher's professional-personal development, outlining their main features and defining the tasks and ways of professional growth of the students of higher education pedagogical institution. The proper motivation of the future teacher is nothing but a skilful internal stimulation of the individual's activity in the process of working on himself, is an encouragement to his own development and improvement. Formation of motivational sphere implies education of future ideals and teachers of professional ideals, value orientations, and pedagogical orientation. The motivational realm of professional development consists of many indicators that are constantly changing and interacting with one another. In the structure of motivation, the resultant and procedural components have been distinguished. The meaning of human activity is but is not limited to, the result. After all, the activity itself also makes sense: the process of activity itself, not its result, drives the subject. Each person has his or her own relatively stable system of motives for activity, depending on his (her outlook, orientation, personality traits, self-consciousness, life and professional experience, intelligence, psychophysiology).

Pupils’ school dropout could be defined as an early and final abandonment of school before graduation, which prevents the pupil from registering in the following stage of education, losing in this way the possibility of benefiting from a proper and higher education. The statistics show that, unfortunately, in recent years school dropout rates have been increasing among secondary school pupils. The University of Oradea and The Bihor County School Inspectorate, Romania, have implemented a project called “School. My chance!” The aim of the project was to prevent and reduce the phenomenon of early school leaving by 100 pupils. The pupils attended five schools in Avram Iancu, Bogei, Carasau, Les and Suncuius, all village in Bihor, Romania, and were identified with higher school dropout risks. This paper proposes to present the partial results obtained at the end of the first period of the project implementation – the second semester of the 2010 / 2011 school year. The sample was represented by those 100 pupils from the above mentioned schools, who were included in Cognitive Therapy, implemented with the help of the project. The method consisted of analysing and comparing the pupils' school marks at the beginning and at the end of the relevant period. The results proved that, after one school semester, the pupils' marks remained rather unchanged, but in a few specific cases (schools or school subjects) small progresses were made. These results can, however, be seen as a significant success, because in education it is very difficult to obtain some spectacular improvements in such a short time and the most important aim of our project was to help those pupils to remain in the formal learning system so that that the positive conditions were created for their personal development. Key words: formal learning system, prevention, school dropout, school performance.
