Social media are interactive computer-mediated technologies that facilitate the creation or sharing of information, ideas, career interests and other forms of expression via virtual communities and networks. Social media has offered a new platform for peer pressure with both positive and negative communication. From Face book comments to likes on Instagram, how the youth communicate and what is socially acceptable is now heavily based on social media. It’ growth drifts reflect that more and more students of different age groups and educational levels are catching on and using social networking platforms. In parallel, demands and realistic expectations of youngsters or university students in an age of digital social media are enormously changing at a rapid pace. Researcher made an attempt to study the various aspects and statistcs related to Internet and social media its penetration, users etc. Researcher also study about the impact of Social Media on E-Commerce. Researcher made an attempt to study the various aspects and statistcs related to Internet and social media its penetration, users etc. Researcher also study about the impact of Social Media on E-Commerce. A sample of one hundred and twenty-five persons was taken for study from Tirunelveli District and the opinion of the youngsters was collected regarding the social media with the help of an Interview Schedule. The data collected were analyzed with the help of percentage analysis, one-way ANOVAs, one sample pair test, and independent chi-square. The researcher used IBM-SPSS version20 software for analysis and interpretation of data. ANOVAs test concluded that there are no significant differences in the opinion of the respondents of different age groups in Academia.edu, face book, Google+, snap chat, YouTube, twitter and so on. It is suggested that the youngsters should focus and filter the most essential social media platforms so that the life will be balanced at both ends of career and relaxation. They should make the right choice concerning the use of social media networks for personal, academic and professional networking in different contexts. Proper awareness building will help them to choose the best for the survival and relaxation.

Purpose The use of social media is prevalent and having the largest number of members than any other online platform available on the internet. Members of all age groups use social media websites according to their needs. This study aims to investigate the impact of social media usage on the academic performance of college students in Kashmir. Design/methodology/approach A structured questionnaire was formulated and a survey was carried out to collect data from the undergraduate students of different government colleges in Kashmir. The questionnaires were distributed randomly among both, male and female of the first, second and third year students of different undergraduate programs. Findings The findings show a majority of the students use social media networking sites to fulfill their educational needs. YouTube is the most largely used social media network among undergraduate students. A majority of the students feel that social media networks are easy to use and they have been using these sites for the past three years. The use of social media greatly helps the students to share knowledge and information with others, to improve their academic grades and to improve their reading and writing skills. A majority of the students spend an hour in using social media networks. Students use their laptops, mobile phones and personal computers to access social media websites. Social implications This study will help to highlight the important role of social media networks in the pedagogical activities of students. Originality/value This study affirms that students do use social media networking sites for academic purposes, which is a good factor to improve their academic skills and grades. Teachers must encourage their students to make the best use of social media networking sites for recreational and academic purposes.

Abstract Despite older people's increasing use of social media (SM), there is relatively little research investigating the impact of SM use on wellbeing in the ageing population. This study investigates the relationship between SM use and life satisfaction, a key dimension of wellbeing, in three age groups. We focus on the Italian case, which is particularly relevant because Italy is one of the countries both with the highest incidence of older people and the lowest uptake of SM in Europe. Applying linear regression modelling techniques, we analyse data from the 2018 Multipurpose Survey – Aspects of Everyday Living, a large probability-based household survey. For two age groups, we find a positive relationship between SM use and life satisfaction which weakens after controlling for older people's demographic and socio-economic characteristics, health conditions and social network characteristics. Given the grey digital divide that still exists in some European countries, we conclude with a call for urgent interventions to remove the hurdles that prevent frail older people from enjoying the benefits of an active ageing, fully exploiting the potential of SM use.

In the last decade, the use of social media has become widespread among all age groups in Italy. Facebook, in particular, has fostered the spreading of information and aided the gathering of like-minded individuals. This process has slowly but steadily affected communities involved with indigenous and trans-cultural shamanism. From the evolution towards a more inclusive and syncretic approach within autochthonous traditions to the wider reception and reinterpretation of imported shamanism, the narratives created online have translated into a tangible change of how practitioners position themselves within the affiliated tradition. By analysing data collected on a Facebook group I created ad hoc for my doctoral research and the content posted on public profiles and groups, I will argue that the use of Social Media reshapes the way practitioners construct their traditions and practices. In the case of vernacular healers, this prompted the development of a shared terminology while fostering a discussion on autenticity among trans-cultural shamans.


Social media has paved a new way for communication and interacting with others. The use of social media differs according to the socio-cultural, demographic and psychological aspects of individuals. People chat, share ideas and visual material, and feel that they satisfy their needs of belonging along with the groups they have joined. Social networks is not only a area of freedom where persons express themselves openly or furtively, but also an area where several ways of violence emerge or even a means used for some aspects of violence.. The present research throws light on a few of the regular and trendy methods of abuse and risks faced by the users of social media. Develop a system to identify abusing audio file by an individual on a people/ group based on common language, race, sexual preferences, religion, or nationality. We examine a new model from machine learning, namely deep machine learning by probing design configurations of deep Convolutional Neural Networks (CNN) and the impact of different hyper-parameter settings in identifying the negative aspects in social media. Deep CNN automatically generate powerful features by hierarchical learning strategies from massive amounts of training data with a minimum of human interaction or expert process knowledge. An application of the proposed method demonstrates excellent results with low false alarm rates for Twitter data


Social media has become part of our daily lives with a major impact on youth’s life. It changed the lives of people for the good but alongside created risks for the individual by impacting their behaviour and mental health as well as society alike. The present study was conducted to examine the pattern and purpose of social media usage among rural youth in rural areas of Ludhiana. Through a simple random sampling technique, a total of 150 respondents were selected from six villages of two blocks and were interviewed. YouTube and WhatsApp were the main sites on which the youth spent most of their time. While buying the phones, respondents prioritised the brand and quality of the phone whereas the selfie mode of the phone was least preferred during selection. The source of knowledge followed by source of entertainment was perceived as merits of social media whereas the demerits were undue peer pressure and communication gap within the family. The study suggested judicious use of social media in the right direction along with digital detox.

The desire to admire has varied with the introduction of social media networks into our lives. This diversity is among the subjects worth researching, especially among women who do sports. The study aims to examine the desire to be liked and the level of use of social media networks in terms of various variables. For this purpose, the "personal information form" developed by the researchers and the "desire to like" scale developed by Kaşıkara and Doğan (2017) were applied to 120 women with an average age of 30.65. The Chi-square test was applied for the statistical solutions of the study. As a result of the analysis, a difference was found between demographic characteristics, but no similarity was found in terms of scale scores.

Purpose In the context of fashion brands on Instagram platform, this study aims to investigate the impact of age on the relationships between informative, interactive and trendy social media marketing (SMM) activities, customer brand engagement (CBE) and brand loyalty. Design/methodology/approach A quantitative method was used to collect and analyses the data and to test the conceptual model. In total, 241 usable questionnaires were collected and analyzed using structural equation modeling and multi-group moderation analysis. Findings The results of this study demonstrate that informativeness of SMM activities relates positively and significantly to CBE in all age groups. However, the strength and the significance of interactive and trendy social media activities differ between age groups. Research limitations/implications This study used only two age groups of college students to answer the research questions. Despite that tech-savvy millennials and generation Z are highly engaged in social media environment, the results may not be representative of the entire population and the findings may be cautiously generalized to other platform types or product categories. Originality/value By offering a new understanding of perceived SMM in different age groups on Instagram platform, this study contributes to the literature by identifying the types of social media activities that engage different age groups on social media networks.

AbstractThe use of Internet and social media has skyrocketed in the past decade. It did not take long until physicians realized that they could use social media as a tool for communication with patients and colleagues. Since then use of social media has exploded and the information that has become available for physicians and their patients is remarkable. In addition, because of the immediacy of the platform, messages that are incorrect or not desired can be rapidly promoted, whether deliberately or accidentally. To obtain the best use of social media, the right platform should be chosen, and this varies depending on the group one is trying to reach, and the message or visibility desired. In this article, we review the variety of options available to users.

The paper investigated impact of social media on teenagers, using Abuja as the study area. Specifically, the study: find out the various social media platforms mostly used by the teenagers in Nigeria; ascertain the means that teenagers use in accessing the social media; ascertain the motivating interests to social media exposure; find out the specific areas of their use of the social media; and find out the impact of the social media on the lifestyles of the teenagers. Structured questionnaires were used to collect data from secondary school teenagers who were between age 13 and 19 years. The data obtained were subjected to descriptive statistics and inferential statistical analysis, and were and presented in tables that contain frequencies and percentages, while the research hypothesis was tested with Chi-square statistic (χ2 ). The result of the hypothesis testing revealed that the use of social media has a significant impact on teenagers’ lifestyle. (α=0.05,χ2 =0.344, p-value=0.002). This study viewed the impacts of social media and how the social media influence teenagers in their lifestyle and learning behavior. Even though it creates negative impacts on teenagers, we cannot think of a world without social media today. The paper recommended the use of corrective and preventive measures towards the negative effects and teenagers should be well educated and must have proper awareness regarding such problems of Social media.

Objective: This study aimed to know the perception of individuals towards mobile banking and find out the satisfaction levels of users towards mobile banking.Methods: A prospective study was conducted among customers in Chennai, India. A total number of 155 participants. (Male 88, Female 66 and Prefer not to say 1). Data were processed and analyzed by the Statistical Package for social science. Descriptively analysis and chi squire was performed. P values < 0.05 were considered statistically significantResults: A total of 155 respondents of 56.77 percent of respondents are male, and 42.58 percent of respondents are female and prefer not to say 0.65 percent in the usage of Social Network Sites. It is found that the majority of respondents are Male. The majority of the respondents are the purpose of using social networking sites in (SSN) 24.52% just for fun and entertainment (SNS). Here the majority of the respondents are preferred social networking sites are Whatsapp.Conclusion: After getting all findings and discussed the end of collected data, the researcher recommends some measures to use of social media in the right direction and utilize social media favorable and appropriate manner to its users. Positive use of social media can develop the youth’s skill, better living style, Career, adopt new trends, and anthropology so on. The study is useful to the teacher, parents, educators in particular, and society in general to understand the behavior of the youth of today.
