AbstractThis study uses structural equation modeling to test a model hypothesizing the impacts of overload and non-participation on job strain, turnover and commitment of urban transit drivers. The study sample comprises 331 responses from transit drivers from bus companies in Australia. The results show that non-participation has a direct and negative impact on organizational commitment while role overload has a direct and positive influence on intent to leave. An unexpected finding is that while overload and non-participation have significant positive impacts on job strain, there is no significant relationship between strain and organizational commitment. The implications are that work-related stressors appear to influence the organizational commitment and intent to leave of transit drivers directly rather than indirectly through job strain. Role overload and non-participation have not often been considered in the context of the commitment and intent to leave in stressful occupations such as urban transit driving.

Human capital is a critical component of any organization's competitiveness. The absence of a high-capacity employee can have a negative impact on operational performance. The researcher examined the significance of organizational commitment as a mediator between work-family interference and turnover intention in the Royal Malaysian Navy. Data were collected from 400 navy personnel at the Lumut Naval Base in Perak, Malaysia, using structured questionnaires. Partial Least Squares-Structural Equation Modeling (PLS-SEM) was used to analyze the data. Organizational commitment serves as a mediator between work-family interference and turnover intention in the Royal Malaysian Navy. According to the findings of this study, organizational commitment mediated the relationship between work-family interference and turnover intention. Additionally, work-family interference is a significant predictor of intention to leave the RMN.

Purpose This paper aims to examine the impacts of links, fit and sacrifice as the sub-dimensions of on-the-job embeddedness (JE) on turnover intentions through the mediating roles of affective organizational commitment (AOC) and work engagement (WENG) and explore AOC and WENG as the two mediators linking on-the-JE to quitting intentions. Design/methodology/approach Data collected from small-sized hotels in three waves in Ghana were used to assess the aforesaid relationships. The hypothesized relationships were tested using structural equation modeling. Findings The findings reveal that on-the-JE is negatively related to turnover intentions. Additionally, the relationship between on-the-JE and turnover intentions is partly mediated by AOC and WENG. The findings further demonstrate that AOC and WENG partly mediate the impact of links on turnover intentions. Practical implications Management of hotels should enhance formal and informal connections between employees and their coworkers and supervisors through socialization tactics. Establishing and maintaining an environment that fosters social support would increase employees’ sense of belongingness and their proclivity to remain with the organization. Originality/value Little is known about the effects of the sub-dimensions of on-the-JE on work-related consequences in the hospitality and tourism literature. The literature is also devoid of evidence concerning affective variables as the potential mediators relating the sub-dimensions of on-the JE to turnover intentions. The study sets out to fill in these gaps.

In the past decades, increasing attention in the public sector has been paid to the relationship between human resource management (HRM) practices and organizational commitment. The bureaucratic structure of public organizations has often been mentioned to have a negative impact on this relationship. To reduce red tape and increase goal clarity, governments worldwide have created semi-autonomous agencies that operate at arm’s length, expecting that they would operate under more business-like conditions with positive effects on organizational commitment. In this study, these positive expectations were tested using groups of employees working at central government, two types of agencies, and businesses. Using multigroup structural equation modeling with a Dutch data set containing 2,432 respondents, the findings provide little support for the notion that agencies are similar to businesses in terms of bureaucracy and ways to stimulate employee commitment, and even indicate that some agencies are more bureaucratic than central government.

Cyberloafing is one of the employee's counterproductive behavior by using mobile phone and office internet facility for personal use during working hours. Cyberloafing behavior is caused one of them by the psychological condition of employees, namely burnout. The cause of this burnout is due to role conflict and role overload. If the behavior of cyberloafing continues to be done will hamper the productivity of employees and eventually will have a negative impact on the company. The problem in this research is how to decrease cyberloafing by seeing role conflict, role overload, and burnout. The sample of this study amounted to 150 respondents. Sample determination was done by census technique. Respondents in this research are employees of PT PLN (Persero) Pusat Manajemen Konstruksi Semarang. The analysis tool used is Structural Equation Modeling (SEM) in AMOS 22 program.Based on five hypotheses tested, there are four accepted hypotheses. Role conflict has a significant effect on cyberloafing, role overload has no effect on cyberloafing, role conflict and burnout has a significant effect on burnout, and burnout has a significant effect on cyberloafing. In an effort to decrease the level of cyberloafing, good human resource management is required. Purpose of Human resource management is to avoid role conflict, role overload, and burnout affecting cyberloafing.

Enterprise social media (ESM) has been widely adopted by firms for employee work-related communication. However, it is still debatable how such usage benefits work stress and employee work efficiency. Applying the transactional theory of stress, this study examined the impact of resilience as a moderator on the link between work stressors and individual work efficiency. A total of 285 entries were used to analyze the proposed hypothesis, using structural equation modeling (SEM) technique and hierarchical regression analysis on SPSS 21.0 and AMOS 21.0 software. According to the findings, ESM use has a considerable impact on work stresses (challenge and hindrance). The findings also revealed that challenge stressors have a beneficial influence on employee work efficiency, while hindrance stressors have a negative impact on it. Furthermore, the results also indicated that resilience strengthens the positive relationship between challenge-stressed employees and work efficiency. However, the findings also revealed that resilience reduces the negative association between hindrance-stress and work efficiency. Finally, the author also explored the study's implications for theory and management.

This study discussed employee turnover as one of the crucial problems faced by every organization. This study sought to analyze the determinants of turnover intention, such as job insecurity, organizational commitment, and job satisfaction. The objects of this study were newcomer lecturers of private Islamic universities in East Java Province, Indonesia. To analyze the relationship among independent variables and dependent variable; this study employed a correlation path model. To build the structural formulation of the correlation path model, this study used the variance-based Structural Equation Modeling (SEM) as a Partial Least Square (PLS) analysis. The study found that job insecurity influenced job satisfaction and organizational commitment. Moreover, job satisfaction and organizational commitment had positive impacts on the turnover intention. In contrast, job insecurity did not have a direct significant impact on the turnover intention, but it had indirect effect that influences job satisfaction and organizational commitment.
