This study was conducted to develop and validate an instrument called sustainable performance (SP) in the banking sector. A mixed research design was used to understand the nature of SP techniques used by managers and employees from the banking sector. A qualitative approach was first employed to assess the types of SP techniques used through a set of interviews conducted with 11 bank managers. This was followed by a quantitative method to develop and validate an SP scale for use in the banking sector. Items for the assessment of SP were developed with a dataset comprising 415 people, and statistical analyses supported both the validity and reliability of this measurement instrument. This instrument consists of 39 items designed as a 5-point Likert scale. The study is restricted to the investigation that was conducted in certain banks operating in North Cyprus. The implications of the study suggest that managers and researchers could use SP to improve the firm performance of their organizations. This study makes a strong contribution by filling a gap in the literature. It focuses on assessing the SP performance of banks to understand their level of competitiveness.

This paper addresses the issue of motivation on the theoretical level. Nowadays, the emphasis is put on life-long learning and the individual’s ability to continuously develop their skills. By investigating the theoretical foundations of motivation, I emphasize its importance in the academy environment. Motivation can be considered as a relevant part of studying, academic performance or success. In the first chapter dealing with an insight into the researched issue, I focus on the views of individual authors on motivation. In the second chapter, I point out the impact of motivation on personality. Last but not least, in the third chapter, I characterize the specific motivational aspects for higher education. The paper aimed to show how motivation is important in education, and overall it forms an essential part of our actions or decisions, which also represents the result of the given article. Different scientific methods were used during the paper elaboration, such as description, synthesis, analysis or comparison.

This chapter provides an insight into the theoretical perspectives which form the foundation of extended reality (XR) and its emergence in practice as a fundamental part of medical and healthcare curricula. Issues such as the authenticity of learning, the validity and reliability of XR within processes of assessment, and the theoretical underpinnings of pedagogical approaches in health professions pedagogy are illuminated. Also considered are the implications of XR within the context of non-patient-based learning and the delineation of cognitive, affective, and psychomotor domains of learning in relation to patient outcomes at the front line of care in applied practice. The COVID-19 pandemic, which has impacted all global higher education institutional (HEI) learning since March 2020, is also considered in the context of moves to ensure that medical and healthcare education can continue, albeit via hybrid models of learning as opposed to traditional pedagogical approaches, which have remained little altered over the last century.

The rapid integration of social media into personal, professional, and educational settings has catalyzed the need to assess social media competence. This study provides the rationale for developing an instrument to conduct such an assessment, and the research illustrates evidence of validity and reliability in assessing social media competence in the field of higher education. The instrument includes 28 items and 4 dimensions: technical usability, content interpretation, content generation, and anticipatory reflection. Data were collected from a sample of 622 college students. Exploratory and confirmatory factor analyses were conducted, and this study finds that the instrument shows no signs of deficiency in its validity or reliability when measuring social media competence. Accordingly, the instrument could be used to evaluate and improve levels of social media competence in higher education.

Abstract Students, their families, employers and the government want the assurance that students will get “good quality” education. The question is: what does “good quality education” mean? This paper seeks to provide the answer as well as some concrete criteria and proposals to improve the objectives and quality of the education systems. We argue in this study that the quality of higher education and student satisfaction is a cumulative construct, summing various facets and variables of the educational institution, such as technical, functional, infrastructure, interaction and atmosphere variables. In this research we describe a study involving a new instrument, i.e. the 5Qs model and a new method which assures the reasonable level of relevance, validity and reliability, while being explicitly change-oriented. The main goal of the empirical part of this study is not to evaluate the performance of the staff or to analyze the student assessment or satisfaction, rather to test the new 5Qs model. The use of the 5Q dimensions provides both a structure for designing a higher education quality measurement instrument and a framework for prioritizing results and findings.

This study presents development and validation of a new measurement instrument to explore student-teachers' self-efficacy beliefs toward teaching. We developed and administered a survey to 346 student teachers at Hacettepe University, Ankara, Turkey in the Department of Elementary Education in the spring term of the 2003–2004 academic year. The nature of the study is descriptive. The aim is to describe what the real situation is. Standard scale development methods and factor analysis were used. The results of the study were strongly supported by the validity and reliability of the survey. Cronbach's alpha was calculated and the reliability coefficient was 0.92. For purposes of examining content validity, the opinions of experts on 5 subject matters were taken. Factor analysis was made to elicit the fundamental dimensions of the survey. As a result of the Kalse-Meyer-Olkin and Bartlett test (0.93), factor analysis was administered to the survey. A single-factor model was specified for the structure of the survey as anticipated.

BACKGROUND Researchers often spend a great deal of time and effort retrieving related journals for their studies and submissions. Authors often designate one article and then retrieve other articles that are related to the given one using PubMed’s service for finding cited-by or similar articles. However, to date, none present the association between cited-by and similar journals related to a given journal. Authors need one effective and efficient way to find related journals on the topic of mobile health research. OBJECTIVE This study aims (1) to show the related journals for a given journal by both cited-by and similarity criteria; (2) to present the association between cited-by and similarity journals related to a given journal; (3) to inspect the patterns of network density indices among clusters classified by social network analysis (SNA); (4) to investigate the feature of Kendall's coefficient(W) of concordance. METHODS We obtained 676 abstracts since 2013 from Medline based on the keywords of ("JMIR mHealth and uHealth"[Journal]) on June 30, 2018, and plotted the clusters of related journals on Google Maps by using MS Excel modules. The features of network density indices were examined. The Kendall coefficient (W) was used to assess the concordance of clusters across indices. RESULTS This study found that (1) the journals related to JMIR mHealth and uHealth are easily presented on dashboards; (2) a mild association(=0.14) exists between cited-by and similar journals related to JMIR mHealth and uHealth; (3) the median Impact Factor were 3.37 and 2.183 based on the representatives of top ten clusters grouped by the cited-by and similar journals, respectively; (4) all Kendall’s coefficients(i.e., 0.82, 0.89, 0.92, and 0.75) for the four sets of density centrality have a statistically significant concordance (p < 0.05). CONCLUSIONS SNA provides deep insight into the relationships of related journals to a given journal. The results of this research can provide readers with a knowledge and concept diagram to use with future submissions to a given journal in the subject category of Mobile Health Research. The rapid increase in recent years in the number of different digital competency frameworks, models, and strategies has prompted an increasing popularity for making the argument in favor of the need to evaluate and assess digital competence. To support the process of digital competence assessment, it is consequently necessary to understand the different approaches and methods. This paper carries out a systematic literature review and includes an analysis of the existing proposals and conceptions of digital competence assessment processes and methods in higher education, with the aim of better understanding the field of research. The review follows three objectives: (i) describe the characteristics of digital competence assessment processes and methods in higher education; (ii) provide an overview of current trends; and, finally, (iii) identify challenges and issues in digital competence assessment in higher education with a focus on the reliability and validity of the proposed methods. On the basis of the findings, and as a result of the COVID-19 pandemic, digital competence assessment in higher education requires more attention, with a specific focus on instrument validity and reliability. Furthermore, it will be of great importance to further investigate the use of assessment tools to support systematic digital competence assessment processes. The analysis includes possible opportunities and ideas for future lines of work in digital competence evaluation in higher education.
