Peculiarities of transformation processes in soils should be taken into account when developing strategies for their rational use and optimization of their functions. The purpose of the work is to study the successions of soil microbiotic coenosis of azonal Al-Fe-humus sandy soils in pine forest stands of different age in the cities of the Kursk region. Traditional and innovative methods of studying the microbiological activity of soils are used in the work. Al-Fe-humus sandy soils of the forest-steppe covered with 100-year-old stands of Scots pine emit 2.1-2.3 times more CO2 than Al-Fe-humus sandy soils under 25 - and 70-year-old stands of pine and 1.5 times more than similar soils under herbaceous phytocenoses. It has been established that stands of Scots pine during 100 years of vegetation lead to significant changes in the basic properties of soils, changes in response, increase in podzolic process, changes in hydrothermal conditions, as well as increase in the biomass of the main groups of soil microorganisms (up to 38.1 times). The purpose of the research is to assess the productivity and adaptability of Camelina sativa depending on the natural and climatic conditions of the forest-steppe zone of the Middle Volga region and the steppe Crimea. The researches were conducted in two regions (Penza and Crimea) with contrasting hydrothermal conditions in 2015–2019 years. Climate conditions in the years of researches were characterized by significant variability in both the degree of humidity and temperature regime in both regions. The hydrothermal coefficient in the Crimea varied in the range of 0.23–1.11, in the conditions of Penza - from 0.45 to 1.10. The index of environmental conditions varied from -0.58 to 1.28 units depending on the natural and climatic zone. On average, in 2015–2019, the productivity of Camelina changed from 1.45 to 1.79 t/ha in Penza and from 0.56 to 1.66 t/ha in Crimea. The highest yield of Camelina sativa was recorded in 2016 in Penza and in 2017 in the Crimea and amounted to 1.79 and 1.66 t/ha, respectively. The value of the index of environmental conditions is 1.17 and 1.28 with hydrothermal coefficient of 0.82 and 0.61, respectively. Depending on the conditions of the year and the region, the oil content varied from 33.9 to 43.9 %. At the same time, there is a tendency to decrease the amount of oil for all years of study in the direction from the Crimea to the zone of the Penza region. Camelina sativa is characterized by a high level of resistance to stressful conditions (0.49– 1.10), differs in environmental adaptability (bi=1.15–1.17), has a high fitness criterion, 41.2–41.5 g/m2, depending on the region.

Seven Hylobius species are known from Siberia, while the occurrence of three of them is doubtful. Information available about the supplementary feeding of adult weevils is reviewed. It is likely that H. abietis and H. albosparsus are the only species of economic significance in this territory. In the northern forest-steppe zone, adult weevils usually prefer to feed separately on isolated or border young trees under the canopy of light Scots pine stands, but avoid the undercanopy regeneration in the dense stands. In the southern taiga zone, adults are abundant on cutover areas where they feed in clumps of young regeneration. In fresh clearcuts, up to 100% of juvenile trees may be damaged by the feeding of weevils, whereas the damage intensity declines sharply with the distance to the clearcut. An edge effect in the distribution of adult weevils needs verification and, probably, is time-dependent. Inside the stands, the crowns of mature trees may constitute an additional food niche for adults if the usual sources and preferred environmental conditions are not available.

Pine forests of the steppe and forest-steppe zones of West-Siberian plain (Ob-Irtysh watershed) represent a unique natural phenomenon. They form anomalously large continuous forest massifs (pine forest strips) on sand deposits in ancient ravines. These forests contrast sharply with the steppe and forest-steppe surroundings, both in the set of plant communities and in species composition. Meadow communities form a narrow belt along the periphery of pine forest strips (Lashchinsky et al., 2018). The studied Kulunda and Kasmala (Fig. 1) pine forest strips are situated in the south-eastern part of West-Siberian plain (52°35′–53°25′ N and 81°10′–83°15′ E) within the forest-steppe zone (Kuminova et al., 1963; Pavlova, 1963). A data set comprising 105 relevés of meadows was classified using TWINSPAN algorithm in Juice (Tichý, 2002), and followed by manual re-arrangement. Cluster analysis of associations was used to determine the main geographical and ecological patterns in meadow vegetation (Fig. 2). Traditionally, meadows are attributed to the class Molinio-Arrhenatheretea R. Tx. 1937. In the last decades, the concept of the class Festuco-Brometea has been changed (Mucina et al., 2016; Willner et al., 2017). In the modern interpretation, the order Brometalia erecti Koch 1926 unites the most mesophytic communities of the class. In this case, the Siberian syntaxa, which previously were considered as the order Festucetalia valesiacae, and some associations of the order Galietalia veri (Molinio-Arrhenatheretea) should be referred to the order Brometalia erecti of the class Festuco-Brometea. The syntaxonomical diversity of meadow vegetation of Kulunda and Kasmala forest strips is represented by two classes, three orders, three alliances, four associations, three subassociations and one community (Table 1). Tishchenko) unites xeric meadows on slightly saline soils, which were found only in transition between the steppe and forest-steppe zones in southern part of the surveyed territory in the southern part of Kasmala strip (Fig. 3, 1). Specific features of their composition is the high constancy of mesoxerophytic species common in meadow steppes (Artemisia dracunculus, A. glauca, Peucedanum morisonii, Spiraea crenata, Stipa pennata, Veronica spuria, etc.). Ass. Echio vulgaris–Poetum angustifoliae ass. nov. hoc loco (Table 3, holotypus — relevé 1 (mr17-027): Altai Territory, Tyumentsevskiy district, surroundings of Voznesenskiy village, N 53.21215°, E 81.72828°, 21.07.2017. Author — М. P. Tishchenko) represents the widespread xeric meadows on sandy soils at the edges of pine forest strips in the all studied territories (Fig. 3, 2, 3). These communities, which contain both meadow and steppe species, are used as pastures, so there is a lot of ruderal plants (Cynoglossum officinale, Echium vulgare, Erigeron acris, Nonea rossica, Senecio jacobaea) in diagnostic combination. Due to the different positions on moisture gradient two subassociations are distinguished: more mesic E. v.–P. a. typicum subass. nov. hoc loco (Table 3, rel. 1–18) and more xeric E. v.–P. a. caricetosum ericetorum subass. nov. hoc loco (Table 3, rel. 19–36; holotypus — relevé 20 (mr17-011): Altai Territory, Shelabolikhinskiy district, near Baturovo village, basin of the Kuchuk river, N 53.40929°, E 82.36375°, 18.07.2017. Campanulo bononiensis–Dactylidetum glo­meratae ass. nov. hoc loco (Table 4, rel. 1–6; holotypus — relevé 4 (mr17-104): Altai Territory, Pavlovskiy district, 6 km to the W from Kasmala village, N 53.42048°, E 83.17238°, 29.07.2017. Тishchenko) unites rare forest meadows (usually secondary) of the order Carici macrourae–Crepidetalia sibiricae, which occur on the wet edges of pine and birch-pine forests (Fig. 3, 4). In low depressions on the transition between forests and wetlands (Fig. 3, 5) on slightly saline soils there are wet meadows (the order Molinietalia) of ass. Heracleo sibirici–Festucetum pratensis ass. nov. hoc loco are found (Table 4, rel. 7–17; holotypus — relevé 7 (mr17-020): Altai Territory, Rebrikhinskiy district, near Ust-Mosikha village, valley of the Kulunda river, N 53.25558°, E 81.98389°, 20.07.2017. Author — М. P. Тishchenko). The tall-grass hay meadows with high constancy of mesophytic meadow and forest plants are within this syntaxon. These habitats are indicated by the presence of halotolerant plants (Cenolophium denudatum, Hordeum brevisubulatum, Plantago cornuti, Cirsium canum, Galatella biflora). The community Agrostis gigantea–Cirsium esculentum unites grazing meadows, that are differentiated by the occurrence of Agrostis gigantea, Artemisia laciniata, Cichorium intybus, Cirsium esculentum, Melilotus dentatus, Senecio erucifolius, Sonchus arvensis (Table 4, rel. 18–21; Fig. 3, 6). The cluster analysis of the associations representing steppes and xeric meadows of the southeastern part of West Siberia revealed two important facts. All associations were clearly spitted into two clusters, which represent the classes Molinio-Arrhenatheretea and Festuco-Brometea. Within the second cluster, the associations representing the steppe meadows of Kulunda and Kasmala pine forest strips were separated. This demonstrates that these communities differ from meadows and steppes representing alliances Carici supinae–Stipion zalesskii Korolyuk 2017 all. prov., Sileno borysthenicae–Cleistogenion squarrosae Korolyuk 2017, Helictotricho desertorum–Stipion rubentis Toman 1969 and Galatellion biflorae Korolyuk 1993. This suggests the possibility to describe new high rank syntaxa for meadows on sandy soils in the forest-steppe zone on West-Siberian plain, however new data from other regions are needed.

Analysis of changes in hydrothermal conditions of growing crops in the forest steppe zone of Ukraine over a period of 2004–2016 showed that by the average monthly air temperature more than a half of the years under study and by rainfall nearly a third of the researched period differed significantly from the average long-term value and were close to extreme weather. Statistical analysis of long-term indicators of the air temperature regime is evidence of a steady trend towards an increase in average annual air temperature with significant fluctuations in indices in separate periods from 7.9 ± 2.9 to 10.0 ± 2.5oС and a decrease in the amount and instability of natural moisture entry. The influence of weather conditions on the formation of productivity of spiked cereals (winter and spring wheat, spring barley) and maize was assessed at the current agrometeorological risks in the forest steppe of Ukraine. Based on the correlation-regression analysis, mathematical models were created that reproduce the dependence of grain yields upon the complex weather conditions of the growing season, the impact of which reached 60–70%. The conditions of eight years (2006–2008, 2011–2014 and 2016), when the hydrothermal index for the vegetation period was 1.13–1.76, turned out to be optimal by hydrothermal indicators to harvest maize yield at 5.83–9.47 t/ha. However, the years of 2005, 2009–2010 and 2015 were unfavorable as they received precipitation by 120 mm lower than a norm or 36% of the norm. The rainfall by 37–61% lower than a norm in June–July and grain yield 3.12–6.51 t/ha were also characteristic of the years mentioned above.

Dynamic changes in forest ecosystems, which can be both short-term and long-term, are assessed on the scale of long-term biologically determined stages, through the determi-nation of age parameters. In this context, the results on the dynamic changes of the components of the aboveground phytomass of Scots pine in the northern steppe zone of Ukraine are presented. Based on the simulated growth tables of the studied modal artificial pine stands, standards for the dynamics of their bioproductivity have been developed for such components of aboveground phytomass as trunk in bark, branches in bark and needles. Modeling and statistical evaluation to determine the phytomass of the aboveground part of the pine stand: wood and bark of the trunk, branches and needles of the crown in a completely dry state. Tables of theoretical distribution of indicators of components of phytomass of pines for an age category from 10 to 80 years are con-structed. Regularities of phytomass changes of trunk components in bark and crown for stands of I–IV classes of quality were found. It is established that the dynamics of changes in the components of both the stem part and the components of the crown is characterized by a gradual increase in phytomass with age. The trend of dynamic changes is similar for all studied rating classes. It is ob-vious that stands of the first quality have the highest productivity of the studied classes. Decreased creditworthiness is accompanied by a gradual decline in productivity. It is investigated that the most significant differences in the phytomass parameters of different qualities are characteristic of older stands. It is calculated that the phytomass of the trunk in the bark varies from 5.4 t/ha (10 years) to 144 t/ha (80 years), and the nature of changes in the phytomass of the crown with age actually reflects the trend of phytomass dynamics of branches compared to pine. A comparative assessment of the dynamic changes of phytomass components of pine stands of the northern steppe part with the results of bioproductivity of pines of Ukrainian Polissya and Forest-Steppe, forest-steppe and northern-steppe regions of the European part, Kazakhstan and Siberia is given. On the basis of the received tables of dynamic changes of bioproductive processes in pines of the Northern Steppe the theoretical substantiation of practical use of normative-reference material for conditions of steppe part of Ukraine is made. The obtained results provide an opportunity to assess the current state of pine forests in the study region and predict the dynamics of their changes, which will allow the objective implementation of forestry measures, taking into account the regional peculiarities of pine formation.
