The purpose of this study was to investigate job satisfaction and employee performance at Stodels Retail Nurseries in the Western Cape. The main aim of the study was to determine the level of job satisfaction and its impact on employee performance. A quantitative methodological approach was used for collecting the data. The target population comprised of 122 employees at Stodels Retail Nurseries. A pre-coded close-ended patented questionnaire was administered to the target population, using the survey method. There was a significantly high response rate of 100% which was largely because the personal method was used for the administration of the questionnaire. The Statistical Program for the Social Sciences (SPSS) version 20.0 for Windows was used for the statistical analysis. Some significant findings emerged from the empirical analysis and results. The majority of respondents (64%) generally experienced job satisfaction at Stodels Retail Nurseries and a significant number of respondents (52.5%) also expressed their dissatisfaction with pay, compensation, and benefits. A moderate number of respondents (43%) expressed further dissatisfaction with the limited opportunities for promotions. This, however, did not affect the level of employee performance significantly. The hypothesis tested revealed that there was no significant relationship between job satisfaction and employee performance. It was recommended that employees at Stodels Retail Nurseries should be kept constantly motivated to ensure that job satisfaction and employee performance levels are kept high. Top management of Stodels Retail Nurseries needs to implement a program to increase job satisfaction and employee performance as this may lead to the added benefits for sustaining and improving its success in the retail nursery sector. The study concluded with directions for further research as well.

Social and familial maladjustment is the inability to conform to a group's habits and norms and to participate in its activities and productions. The purpose of this study is to study the social representations of the social and familial maladjustment of adolescents and young people. This is a case study, using a mixed method essentially qualitative, set in a closed educational center in the Department of Littoral in Benin. The study concerned adolescents and young people admitted to the center and their referents. The respondents in the target population were all male and aged 10 to 23 with an average age of 18 years. The social representations of maladjustment, according to young people and their referents are similar. They concern social disqualification, inadequate educational attitudes, the absence of familial model, educational failure linked to adolescents or young people and mystical-religious representations. Adolescents and young people define themselves as deviants while their referents define them as delinquents. This create an insecurity feeling and a need to protect society. Adults have to integrate themselves earlier in the prevention of this phenomenon with the help and /or child psychiatrist lead.

Employee performance is measured by the quality of work, productivity, ability to work independently with little or no direction or follow-up to complete tasks, job knowledge, employees’ interpersonal relationships and so on. Reward systems have long been used as a strategy to motivate employees and increase their performance. Several studies have also suggested that knowledge sharing increases learning which improves employees’ job performance. Yet, in Ethiopia, several organizations haven’t done a comprehensive study on which type of reward system or knowledge sharing practice best fit them. The purpose of this study is to examine the reward system and knowledge sharing practices of two banks, Awash and Dashen, in Adama Ethiopia, and analyze the differences in their employee performance. To achieve this objective this study uses instruments based on intrinsic and extrinsic reward system and tacit and explicit knowledge sharing and their impact on employee performance. The target population are employees of Awash and Dashen bank in Adama, Ethiopia. An empirical study using qualitative data and survey method is employed to conduct this study. A convenient sample is collected from 120 employees in each bank. The theoretical and practical implications of the study are also discussed.
