So far, distance learning still faces many obstacles in its implementation. Starting from compiling lesson plans, learning methods, to conducting evaluations. Moreover, the psychological factors of students in facing this pandemic, they are required to study at home with various kinds of challenges and obstacles. Limitations of gadgets (smartphone), internet quota to internet networks that do not reach where they live because they are in rural areas. To find a solution to this problem, a study was conducted regarding the initial conditions of SMAN 1 Pagaden students in carrying out this distance learning. By using the Miles & Huberman analysis method, which will find interactive patterns of relationships and to get an understanding of the meaning of the obstacles faced in the distance learning process at SMAN 1 Pagaden by using non-verbal interview techniques. The questionnaire is distributed via google form which then the data obtained is used as a reference for developing distance learning strategies. Based on the results of interviews, based on respondents who answered that distance learning at SMAN 1 Pagaden was less effective, it was 49.8%. Students hope that distance learning does not give many assignments but there is material delivery through google meet or zoom meeting. For students who are not reached by internet and gadget (smartphone) facilities, the visiting teacher model is carried out with small groups.

The COVID-19 pandemic has brought a number of obstacles and challenges in learning. The bigger obstacle is found for schools in rural areas. Starting from the problem of the availability of supporting facilities, parental support, to the problem of teacher readiness in carrying out learning and character education during the COVID-19 pandemic. Therefore this study aims to describe the teacher's strategy in carrying out distance learning and character education in rural area during the Covid-19 pandemic. This research was a qualitative research, involving 13 teachers. The data were collected through observation, interview, and questionnaire. The data analysis was carried out in by using a qualitative descriptive analysis. The data were analyzed through three stages, namely data reduction, data presentation, and data verification. The data were validated through source, method, and theory triangulations. The results of this study indicate that the teachers’ strategies in implementing distance learning include: Whatsapp-based online distance learning, offline distance learning, and mixed distance learning. There were 3 strategies to carry out character education during the Covid-19 pandemic, namely direct feedback through examples or narrative in the text. Examples given were also in the form of pictures; and through a checklist of daily and weekly activities. Various obstacles occured in distance learning and character education. Parents also felt stressed because of the increased burden during the pandemic. Therefore, collaboration between various components is needed to design the most effective learning strategies in rural areas.

Traditional ecological knowledge (TEK) is the best indigenous practice acquired through centuries of experience in contact with nature. The rural area in Tawangmangu District, located on the slopes of Mount Lawu, Indonesia, is rich in TEK, such as folklore, traditional ceremonies, performing arts, planting systems, and harvesting systems that are starting to be abandoned young. Teaching TEK by bringing students to learning resources allows literacy to occur in cognitive and affective aspects. This study was conducted to determine the effect of teaching through field trips on improving the literacy of local elementary school students in TEK literacy. The study was conducted through a quasi-experimental with pretest-posttest non-equivalent control group design. Learning in the experimental class is carried out outside the home with field trips in small groups (4-6 students), while the control class is carried out using a distance learning system via WhatsApp and radio broadcasts at each student's home. The results show a significant effect of the field trip method on TEK literacy, both in cognitive and affective aspects. d Cohen's analysis shows the effect is quite significant. The level of mastery of TEK material in the field trip class is significantly higher than in the non-field trip class. In addition, students in the field trip class also showed higher pro-environment attitudes than students in the non-field trip class. It is recommended that environmental or local cultural education be held through field visits in small groups to reduce student boredom following distance learning during the pandemic in rural areas.

AbstractInternet addiction has become a worrying phenomenon for Indonesian teenagers. This research was conducted to determine whether the psychological factors will influence internet addiction in adolescents. This research uses quantitative with multiple regression analysis method. The winning sample is 200 adolescents. The instrument collects data using a scale internet addiction scale that compiled by Griffiths (2005) and developed by Lemmens (2009), Parenting Authority Questionnaire (PAQ) developed by Buri (1991), Social Skill Inventory (SSI) developed by Riggio (1986), and A Rasch-Type Loneliness Scale compiled by De Jong Gierveld (2006).  The results showed that there were significant differences in the parenting style, social skills, and loneliness on the tendency of internet addiction in adolescents.

In this paper, a fast Fourier transforms (FFT)-based spectral analysis method (SAM) is proposed for the dynamic analysis of spectral element models subjected to the non-zero initial conditions. To evaluate the proposed SAM, the spectral element model for the simply supported Bernoulli-Euler beam is considered as an example problem. The accuracy of the proposed SAM is evaluated by comparing the dynamic responses obtained by SAM with the exact analytical solutions.

In this paper, the homotopy analysis method is applied to solve linear fractional problems. Based on this method, a scheme is developed to obtain approximation solution of fractional wave, Burgers, Korteweg-de Vries (KdV), KdV-Burgers, and Klein-Gordon equations with initial conditions, which are introduced by replacing some integer-order time derivatives by fractional derivatives. The fractional derivatives are described in the Caputo sense. So the homotopy analysis method for partial differential equations of integer order is directly extended to derive explicit and numerical solutions of the fractional partial differential equations. The solutions are calculated in the form of convergent series with easily computable components. The results of applying this procedure to the studied cases show the high accuracy and efficiency of the new technique.

The Star Schools distance learning program, sponsored by the U.S. Department of Education, is charged with serving “underserved” students. A recently concluded national evaluation of the program assessed the extent to which the program addressed the equity issue as defined in the legislation, that is, whether students in remote, rural areas and economically disadvantaged students were served by Star Schools. The study found that two distinct types of distance learning experiences are offered to students with equally distinct characteristics. A declining number of Star Schools courses are full courses, mainly in advanced mathematics and science or foreign languages, offered primarily to students in remote rural areas. At the same time, students in urban areas are receiving supplemental courses, mainly in elementary schools, in mathematics and science. These differences hinge on different definitions of “underserved.”

Dendang Melayu Beach is a public beach that is being developed by the Batam City Government. Although various efforts have been made by the government to increase the number of visitors to this beach, it turns out that the number of visitors has not necessarily increased consistently but fluctuated up and down. Therefore, this research was carried out to further explore the behavior of visitors in the hope that it could become a material evaluation of the government in developing this tourist attraction. This study aims to examine the effect of consumer behavior on the selection of Dendang Melayu Beach tourist attractions. The respondents of this study were 100 tourists who visited the Batam Dendang Beach. The data analysis method used is inductive statistics using multiple linear regression. The results of this study are the four variables of consumer behavior namely cultural, social, personal and psychological factors partially positive and significant effect on the choice of tourist attractions.
