Currently, digital images are widely used in different applications to represent distinguishable contents. Also, diagnosing diseases using medical images became vital and crucial and if the data in these images are liable for unauthorized usage, this may lead to severe problems. The security of these data has become an urgent and serious problem and needs immediate attention. Traditional encryption and decryption algorithms are not sufficient to secure digital images. Especially, image encryption and decryption algorithms are needed. Securing image data with effective encryption approaches can be more useful for applications. This article aims to comparatively study the different digital image encryption algorithms. In the current Pandemic scenario of COVID-19, the variety of research work can be communicated through the encrypted images among researchers to avoid the leakage of information. These image encryption algorithms are having applications to secure image data and store and share them in the network environments.

In this article, we introduced a digital image encryption algorithm based on the chaotic mapping designed by Xiong et al. In their paper, the authors theoretically analyzed the algorithm and pointed out that the algorithm did not need to have the prior knowledge of the orbital distribution and one can select any chaotic model. In this way, the algorithm greatly expanded the cryptographic space and greatly reduced the number of iterations of the mapping. Since the algorithm has many characteristics, for instance, it is sensitive to the secret key, its key space is big, the pixel is well distributed after being encrypted, etc., the security of the encrypted images can be assured effectively. However, since the algorithm applied the image scrambling for encryption, and did not take the chosen-plaintext attacks into consideration, the algorithm is relatively weak in resisting the chosen-plaintext attacks. Therefore, we put forward a kind of image replacement method based on chaos, which can resist the chosen-plaintext attacks. And the experimental simulation proves that this algorithm not only has many characteristics, for instance, it is sensitive to the secret key, its key space is big, the pixel is well distributed after being encrypted, etc., but also can resist the chosen-plaintext attacks effectively. In the meanwhile, the algorithm is very sensitive to the small changes of the plaintexts, and its encrypted images will completely lose the features of the original ones.

Chaotic systems have been widely used in digital image encryption algorithms because of their characteristics of deterministic randomness, extreme sensitivity to initial values, etc. Although these chaos-based algorithms are good at performance in general, most of them are ineffective when confronting attacks such as the chosen plain image attack. So, this paper proposes a new digital image encryption algorithm based on orbit variation of phase diagram (AOVPD), which modifies the iterative sequence of chaotic system with the pixel values of plain image. Theoretical analysis proves that the proposed AOVPD has the ability to resist chosen plain image attack within two rounds of operation, while the existing algorithms could be cracked in the same situation. To be specific, AOVPD is effective when confronting various attacks including chosen plain image attack. Also, simulation results show that the proposed algorithm has an outstanding safety performance.

A compound Chaos encryption algorithm for digital images is designed in this paper. Lorenz Chaotic system and Logistics map are linked in cascade to generate Chaos sequences. Then the permutation matrix is constructed to encrypt the digital image. The new algorithm can expand the key space and improve anti-aggressive ability. Matlab7.0 is used for simulation testing of the image encryption. Experimental results show that the algorithm is feasible and it can satisfy the security requirement for image transmission and storage. The compound Chaos algorithm can be also used for color digital image encryption.

The digital image may be important and has a secret character, which requires not understanding it when looking at the naked eye or not understanding the contents. So seeking a method of digital image encryption-decryption is a very important task.In this paper we will introduce a new method of digital image encryption-decryption, which will be very simple, highly secure and accurate and highly efficient.

Absolute protection is a difficult issue to maintain the confidentiality of images through their transmission over open channels such as internet or networks and is a major concern in the media, so image Cryptography becomes an area of attraction and interest of research in the field of information security. The paper will offer proposed system that provides a special kinds of image Encryption image security, Cryptography using RSA algorithm for encrypted images by HEX function to extract HEX Code and using RSA public key algorithm, to generate cipher image text. This approach provides high security and it will be suitable for secured transmission of images over the networks or Internet.
