Is it strange that the spanning tree protocol (STP) has been the only thing used to defend the Layer-2 backbone against looping? Do we trust it? For several decades, the campus backbone has often been an unsuspected problem, one of which is STP failure. Meanwhile, the MAC address flapping is probably a feasible issue for modern network fabrics. According to the serious Layer-2 issues, particularly the legacy switches extended STP design, this work uses the notion of a software-defined network fashion to evaluate the traditional and modern networks. Through the MAC address lookup of all bridge devices, this work proposes the Layer-2 evaluation system (LES), which uses a novel approach known as support supervised learning to create the data preparation for machine learning. Additionally, the LES enabled network administrators to determine their backbones. This study is intended to evaluate the potential slowdown network caused by MAC address problems. Furthermore, this work investigates the proposed method in a real network, and it also covers the evaluation and performance of our proposed method.

Tactile sense or the sense of touch has been an important aspect of the human interactions with the environment. The study of tactile sense, or the haptics, has received tremendous attentions for its potential applications. This paper introduces a novel approach for evaluating fabric sensory responses. Attempt has been made to objectively assess the oak tasar silk waste/ viscose blended knitted fabrics of two different yarn counts in order to obtain the scores on various parameters of hand. The Kawabata Evaluation System (KES) used five highly sensitive instruments that measure fabric bending, shearing, tensile and compressive stiffness, as well as the smoothness and frictional properties of a fabric surface. The instrument also gave direct value of primary hand value and total value of the fabric. It the findings of the research revealed that, 40%OTW:60%viscose blended fabric of 15 Nm yarn count depicted best results for smoothness, uniformity, tactile sensation, aesthetic appearance and total hand value.

Manufacturing industry is playing an important role in social and economic system, while it is “big but not strong” that is more prominent in developing regions. In order to upgrade manufacturing industry, competitiveness evaluation of manufacturing industry is studied based on weighted grey correlation using analytical hierarchy process and grey correlation analysis.First, statistical data concerned withmanufacturing industry competitiveness are summarized and compared in six developing regions. Then, an evaluation system of manufacturing industrycovering 22 indicators is constructed from economics, scale, R&D and ecology points of view. Furthermore, by using weighted grey correlation which is combined with analytic hierarchy process and grey correlation analysis methods, a simulation approach considering uncertainty on weight and identification coefficient is developed to make a more reliable assessment. Finally, on the basis of the models and approaches, an empirical study on manufacturing industry competitiveness is carried out and simulation results show that this novel approach can provide information and insights for competitiveness evaluation.

Sensitivity analysis is popular in dealing with missing data problems particularly for non-ignorable missingness, where full-likelihood method cannot be adopted. It analyses how sensitively the conclusions (output) may depend on assumptions or parameters (input) about missing data, i.e. missing data mechanism. We call models with the problem of uncertainty sensitivity models. To make conventional sensitivity analysis more useful in practice we need to define some simple and interpretable statistical quantities to assess the sensitivity models and make evidence based analysis. We propose a novel approach in this paper on attempting to investigate the possibility of each missing data mechanism model assumption, by comparing the simulated datasets from various MNAR models with the observed data non-parametrically, using the K-nearest-neighbour distances. Some asymptotic theory has also been provided. A key step of this method is to plug in a plausibility evaluation system towards each sensitivity parameter, to select plausible values and reject unlikely values, instead of considering all proposed values of sensitivity parameters as in the conventional sensitivity analysis method. The method is generic and has been applied successfully to several specific models in this paper including meta-analysis model with publication bias, analysis of incomplete longitudinal data and mean estimation with non-ignorable missing data.
