This chapter describes a hybrid routing protocol for mobile ad hoc network based on the packet relaying cooperation and zone-based network architecture. In each zone, a specific node called Principal manages the routing processing. The Principal receives, periodically from its zone‘s nodes, two values that express their rate of success and their rate of cooperation, and then calculates the average rate of success, and the average rate of cooperation of the zone. After what, it retransmits these averages to all nodes. The nodes use the two averages values to define the action to be undertaken, cooperate or not. The Principal, knowing the topology of its zone, receives route requests and calculates the path between the source and the destination according to the best way based on cooperation. The Principal‘s features are so that it is simple to realize. It does not impose constraints and it allows the information gathering that is necessary for the model solution. Such the routing protocol and the nodes (to undertake the actions that make them possible to cooperate) use this information. Simulations show the efficiency of the protocol opposite to the pro-active and reactive protocols in the context of cooperation in mobile ad hoc networks.

Routing in MANET is a challenging task due to the dynamic nature of the participating nodes in MANET. This challenge has led to the development of many different routing protocols, with each originator claiming that his or her proposed protocol was more effective than its predecessors were. Nonetheless, the effectiveness of these protocols relies on the prevailing network scenarios, which differ in terms of node density and traffic. Against this challenging backdrop, the authors provide an overview of the different MANET protocols, such as OLSR, AODV, DSR, DSDV, ZRP and TORA, which are broadly classified based on three categories, namely Proactive (table-driven), Reactive (on-demand) and Hybrid routing protocol. The authors then provide a comparative analysis of the different protocols based on qualitative metrics. This paper concludes by highlighting the expected performance of each protocol for a particular network environment, which is deemed suitable based on the specific characteristics of the protocol.

In this time of instant units, Mobile Ad-hoc Network(MANET) has become an indivisible part for transmission for mobile devices. Therefore, curiosity about study of Mobile Ad-hoc Network has been growing because last several years. In this report we have mentioned some simple routing protocols in MANET like Destination Sequenced Distance Vector, Active Source Redirecting, Temporally-Ordered Redirecting Algorithm and Ad-hoc On Need Distance Vector. Protection is just a serious problem in MANETs because they are infrastructure-less and autonomous. Principal target of writing this report is to handle some simple problems and security considerations in MANET, operation of wormhole strike and acquiring the well-known routing protocol Ad-hoc On Need Distance Vector. This short article will be a great help for the people performing study on real world problems in MANET security.
