A 50-year-old female presented with progressive heart failure due to obstruction of the mitral valve after heart transplantation in 2008. Through the occlusion catheter (IntraClude Intra-Aortic Occlusion Device), aortic cross-clamping, antegrade cardioplegia, and aortic root venting were performed. Our case reports the first published study on minimally invasive mitral valve replacement for valve stenosis through intraluminal aortic clamping. The hazard of traumatic injuries can be reduced by avoiding resternotomy and circumventing adhesions between the aorta and the pulmonary artery after heart transplantation. Minimally invasive valve surgery is a safe and effective method with regard to short- and long-term results, especially in redo operations.

Functional forces are transmitted to the basal seat mucosa through a hard denture base during mastication. Such hard base dentures are not comfortably tolerated in patients with fragile oral mucosa and will cause sore spots, masticatory pain, and further resorption of alveolar bone. Soft liners materials can be advocated successfully to manage such clinical situations. The soft liner material absorbs masticatory forces by means of the cushioning effect and distributes occlusal forces uniformly to prevent trauma to compromised residual ridges.

Heck's disease is a familial benign lesion affecting the oral mucosa and skin caused by Human papilloma viruses 13 and 32. This condition is quite rare in the Indian subcontinent and till date less than 10 case reports have been published. Females are predominantly affected. It is important for an oral physician to be aware and possess sufcient knowledge about these lesions as these lesions are highly contagious. Further, the presence of these lesions may indicate an underlying immunodecient state of the patient. This paper reports an unusual case of Heck's disease in a 30 year old Indian male.

AbstractChronic inflammation leading to musculoskeletal pain has garnered interest in the past decade with the success of genicular artery embolization for knee pain secondary to osteoarthritis. Outside the knee joint, musculoskeletal embolization has been applied to other anatomical locations, mainly shoulder pain secondary to adhesive capsulitis and elbow pain secondary to lateral epicondylitis. The success of these early trials and other case reports highlights the efficacy of musculoskeletal embolization and its future potential.

Conventional excisional surgical exposure of an unerupted tooth into the mobile non-keratinized alveolar mucosa results in elongation of the clinical crown, a narrow and non-functional buccal gingival zone, and a predisposition to chronic inflammation of the affected oral mucosa. Use of alternative flap techniques designed to conserve a keratinized mucosa in relation to the crown are only partially successful in avoiding these problems. Surgical exposure of teeth therefore should be avoided whenever possible. On the rare occasions when it becomes necessary, a flap technique must be used to minimise postoperative periodontal pathology.
