The cornigera species group of the genus Promalactis Meyrick, 1908 is proposed based on the forewing patterns. Species of this group are characterized by the forewing with the costal and ventral areas densely covered with dark scales forming ill-defined dark bands along the basal 2/5 to 3/4, respectively, and the dorsum with two pale parallel streaks. Six new species are described: P. albipectinalis sp. nov., P. flavidilineata sp. nov., P. grandaedeaga sp. nov., P. malipoensis sp. nov. and P. voluta sp. nov are from China, and P. latignatha sp. nov. is from Thailand. Photographs of adults and genitalia of the new species are provided.

Eleven new species of Chrysotus Meigen are described from southwest China: C. adunatus sp. nov., C. agraulus sp. nov., C. anshunus sp. nov., C. apicicaudatus sp. nov., C. biprojicienus sp. nov., C. fanjingshanus sp. nov., C. fuscitibialis sp. nov., C. laxifacialus sp. nov., C. pallidus sp. nov., C. trapezinus sp. nov. and C. xinanus sp. nov. which belong to the redefined Chrysotus laesus species-group. A key to all species of the C. laesus species-group is provided.

The Japanese species of the genus Stilbops are taxonomically studied, with eleven species recognized. Three Russian Far East species, S. cavigena Kasparyan, S. mandibularis Kasparyan and S. orientalis Kasparyan are new to Japan. Six new species, S. auster sp. nov., S. coeloclypeus sp. nov., S. ezoensis sp. nov., S. japonicus sp. nov., S. michinokuensis sp. nov. and S. montanus sp. nov. are described. A key to Japanese species is provided. Their diversity and distribution patterns in the Eastern Palaearctic Region are also discussed.

Japanese species of the genus Intybia are revised taxonomically, with the examination of the endophallic structure. Eight species, including one new species Intybia donan sp. nov. from Yonaguni-jima, are recognized. All species are described or redescribed with a key and figures. The endophallic structure contains one primary sclerite (gonoporal piece), three secondary sclerites (ligula, semi-gonoporal piece, and spinous plate) in some species, and a membranous basal area densely covered with many spines (spinous area). Based on the structures of the endophallus, the Japanese members of the genus are divided into two species groups (the histrio and pelegrini groups). The pelegrini species group is furthermore subdivided into three subgroups (subgroups 1–3). New distributional records are as follows: I. histrio from Hachijô-jima and Tanega-shima; I. niponica from Sakhalin and I. takaraensis from Tokuno-shima and Amami-Ôshima.

The Hoplias malabaricus species group represents one of the most complexes taxonomical problems in the systematics of Neotropical fishes, including specimens widely distributed in most drainages of South America and part of Central America with great variation or overlap of putative diagnostic characters. The large number of nominal species, many of which without known type material, renders the problem more complicated. Currently, at least three nominal species can be included in the Hopliasmalabaricusspecies group based on the form of the medial margins of dentaries and presence of tooth plates on the tongue: Hoplias malabaricus, H. teres, and H. microlepis, the latter representing the only exclusively trans-Andean known species of the genus. We present herein a taxonomic study of Hoplias microlepis based on examination of syntypes and recently collected specimens, including a redescription of the species. Hoplias microlepisoccurs in the Pacific drainages of Panama and Southwestern Costa Rica, in addition to the río Guayas basin in Ecuador and the region near its mouth (río Tumbes, Northwestern Peru). Records of the species on the Atlantic coast of Panama are restricted to the Canal Zone, suggesting dispersal through the Panama Canal. We also designate lectotype and paralectotypes.
