Theatre teaches is a new experiment carried out at the University of Brescia. The growing importance of transversal competences i.e. those skills that essentially concern attitudes in the workplace and interpersonal relationships such as team work, language and communication skills, gave us the idea to develop an educational innovation to help students bring out these skills. We asked students to wrote a play using topics seen in class. So, they tried to wrap their mind around it and worked in team to write a script and get him to scene. Not to be confused to business theatre, this method is applicable in any framework. The assessment results reveal that students appreciate this method because this work helps them to express theirself better and, in general terms, they could improve their non techniocal skills. In conclusion, we can say that this experiment has been a success and gave the students the opportunity to show transversal competences. The ability to communicate, to teamworking, to manage conflicts, to speak in public, to problem solving, creativity, imagination, the ability to manage unforeseen situations and tolerate pressure and stress, leadership skills, negotiation skills and the ability to motivate are just few of the emergent competences.

<p><strong>Abstract</strong></p><p>The aim of this study was to examine the effectiveness of a leadership skills education program for higher education students. In this program, education was provided to improve the desire for struggle and goal setting, communication skills, group skills, problem-solving skills, decision-making skills, responsibility awareness, trusting and trustworthiness awareness, leadership awareness and emotional awareness within the framework of leadership skills. The study group of the research consists of final-year students with the average age of 23.8 years studying at the Faculty of Economics of Karabük University in the 2016-2017 academic year.  The data of the study were collected with the “Youth leadership characteristics scale”, “Emotional self-awareness scale” and “Awareness of leader and leadership scale”.  The retrospective pretest-posttest experimental model was used in the study.  The differentiation levels of the pretest and posttest scores of the students included in the education program were examined with the Wilcoxon signed-rank test. It was observed at the end of the study that the desire for struggle and goal setting, communication skills, group skills, problem-solving skills, decision-making skills, responsibility awareness, trusting and trustworthiness awareness, leadership awareness and emotional awareness levels of the students who participated in the education program significantly increased from a moderately sufficient level to a quite sufficient level. It was indicated that the applied leadership skills education program was effective.</p><p><strong>Öz</strong></p><p>Bu araştırmanın amacı, yükseköğretim öğrencilerine dönük olarak geliştirilen bir liderlik becerileri eğitimi programının etkililiğinin incelenmesidir. Bu programda liderlik becerileri çerçevesinde mücadele isteği ve hedef koyma, iletişim becerileri, grup becerileri, problem çözme becerileri, karar verme becerileri, sorumluluk farkındalığı, güven duyma ve güvenilir olma farkındalığı, liderlik farkındalığı ve duygusal farkındalığı geliştirmeye yönelik bir eğitim verilmiştir. Araştırmanın çalışma grubunu 2016-2017 yılında Karabük Üniversitesi’ndeki ortalama yaşı 23.8 olan iktisat fakültesi son sınıf öğrencileri oluşturmaktadır. Araştırmanın verileri “Gençlik Liderlik Özellikleri Ölçeği”, “Duygusal Benlik Bilinci Ölçeği” ve “Lider ve Liderlik Hakkinda Farkindalik Ölçeği” ile toplanmıştır. Çalışmada geçmişe dayalı öntest-son test deneysel modeli kullanılmıştır.  Eğitim programında yer alan öğrencilerin öntest ve sontest puanlarının farklılaşma düzeyleri Wilcoxon işaretli sıralar testi ile sınanmıştır. Araştırma sonunda eğitim programına katılan öğrencilerde mücadele isteği ve hedef koyma, iletişim becerileri, grup becerileri, problem çözme becerileri, karar verme becerileri, sorumluluk farkındalığı, güven duyma ve güvenilir olma farkındalığı, liderlik farkındalığı ve duygusal farkındalık düzeylerinin orta derecede yeterli düzeyden   oldukça yeterli düzeye  anlamlı bir şekilde yükseldiği görülmüştür. Uygulanan liderlik becerileri eğitimi programının etkili olduğu ortaya konulmuştur.</p>

This research is motivated by the high unemployment rate in Indonesia at the diploma and undergraduate level due to limited employment opportunities. This study aims to determine whether entrepreneurial skills (risk taking skills, innovation skills, leadership skills, communication skills, and problem solving skills) affect students' entrepreneurial attitudes. Quantitative methods are used to answer the research problems. The respondents were 97 Accounting students who were taken using accidental sampling technique while the analysis used multiple linear regression analysis. The results showed that risk taking skills and innovation skills had an effect on entrepreneurial attitudes. Meanwhile, leadership skills, communication skills, and problem solving skills have no effect on entrepreneurial attitudes.

Background: Although communication skills can lead to family resources, the association between communication skills in adolescents and family resources remains to be examined multi-dimensionally. Therefore, we examined whether family resources are predicted by six categories of communication skills. Further, we examined the moderating effect of encoding skills and commitment to family in the association between decoding skills and family resources. Method: One hundred forty university students completed several questionnaires assessing communication skills, family resources, and commitment to family. Results: Results indicated that expressivity in communication skills positively predicted cohesion and trust in family strength, and regulation of interpersonal relationships negatively predicted balance between individual family members and the family system. Additionally, analysis showed that commitment to family moderated relationships between “deciphering ability” and trust in family strength in family resources. The hypothesis that trust in family strength is negatively predicted by deciphering ability among those low in commitment to family is supported. Discussion: It can be effective in clinical support to help individuals express feelings and needs to enhance family resources needed to bounce back from a crisis. However, in individuals low in commitment to family, when a practitioner helps individuals with high deciphering ability enhance their commitment to family, it is important to help prevent negative family relationships caused by experiencing mental burdens generated by family dynamics.

This paper presents the results of a survey of61 alumni from the University of Manitoba Department ofBiosystems Engineering. A three-section survey wasdeveloped to evaluate 12 attributes outlined by theCanadian Engineering Accreditation Board. The surveyrequested that alumni assess the 12 attributes in threeways: the importance of each attribute in their currentemployment, the level of preparedness they had receivedin each attribute from their education in the BiosystemsEngineering program, and the competency level requiredin each attribute by their current employment. Using gapanalysis, the level of preparedness received by BiosystemsEngineering alumni was compared with level ofcompetency required in current employment. The level ofpreparedness exceeded competency required on 10 of 12attributes; only attributes of “communication” and“impact of engineering on society and the environment”were found to be deficient using this analysis.Comparison of the importance of attributes to level ofpreparedness showed that level of preparedness ismeeting industry expectations on attributes of “knowledgebase for engineering”, “design”, “use of engineeringtools” with room for improvement on “problemanalysis”, “investigation” and most of the soft skillattributes. Interestingly, alumni who had participated onan extra-curricular team rated their preparedness on“team work” and “communication skills” lower than theoverall response even though these extra-curricularactivities provide real-life experience with theseattributes.

AbstractIn recent years Finnish university language centres have increasingly developed procedures for assessing and recognising the skills in English for Specific Purposes (ESP) that students acquire in various non-formal and informal learning environments. This article describes the procedures developed by the University of Eastern Finland Language Centre to assess business students' non-formal and informal learning of ESP language and communication skills. The examinations are held every semester for students seeking exemption from the ESP courses that form part of their undergraduate degree in business and economics. In the examinations the students' skills and abilities are tested using the same criteria and methods as in the courses from which exemption is sought.The article also describes how business students perceive the exemption examination process as a means to recognising and assessing their non-formally and informally acquired ESP language and communication skills. Applying a mixed methods research design, the data presented was elicited from business students who participated in the ESP exemption examinations at the University of Eastern Finland Language Centre in the autumn semester 2012. The results of this pilot study indicate that the students regard the exemption examination process as their preferred means of demonstrating prior learning of ESP, and consider the pre-examination guidance and information provided by the teachers and the self-assessment instructions functional and sufficient. These findings encourage the further development of the ESP exemption examination system at the University of Eastern Finland Language Centre.

This study was aimed at investigating the conflicts that may occur on the part of university students at ULEAM where it was reflected whether in the university effective communication skills are built within the classroom, all through assessment instruments that determine the degree of skills in terms of communication as in interpersonal relationships. This study did provide support to issues in the university environment in the construction by making aware of the impact of an active learning environment, seeing how receptive students are to the topics covered in class and how the follow-up of the course is developed by the teacher by dealing with the difficulties students had in improving the communication of knowledge with better student-teacher interactions.

This paper reports our preliminary observations of a pilot project carried out from February to April 2019 with a group of students learning Spanish at the University of Central Missouri and students learning English at the University of León. The project combines challenging escape room activities with intercultural and interlinguistic interaction in a virtual exchange. Students learned of the premise of the activity through a video that set the context in a dystopian future with an authoritarian dictator who had hidden and controlled access to knowledge. The contextual narrative also explained that a hacker was leaking information that the students could retrieve. Therefore, they needed to collaborate with their partners in order to save the world by solving different types of enigmas that involved knowledge about geography, culture, and language. In addition to these problem-solving activities, they were also required to discuss cultural topics and comment on different habits, traditions, and stereotypes. This combination might enhance the students’ motivation, foster their communication skills, and help them develop critical thinking skills and learn more about each other’s language, country, and culture.

This research is based on learning in tertiary institutions which requires more active, independent and creative learners. of the importance of using appropriate learning methods in mathematics learning at the university level. SCAMPER is a technique that can be used to spark creativity and help overcome challenges that might be encountered in the form of a list of general goals with ideas spurring questions. This research aims to develop students' problem solving skills using the SCAMPER method in terms of student motivation. The population in this study were all semester V students of mathematics education study programs, which were also the research samples. From the analysis of the data it was found that the SCAMPER method was better in developing students' problem solving abilities with an average increase of 0.52 compared to conventional methods with an average increase of 0.45. In addition there is a difference between improving students' problem solving abilities when viewed from their motivation. But there is no interaction between motivational factors and learning methods.

The scientific production of digital literacy at the university level published in the Scopus database is analyzed, with a special emphasis on studies on tourism due to the relevance of information and communication technology (ICT) in said professional sector. For this, a bibliometric study of a pertinent sample is undertaken using a mixed methodology and based on a series of variables related to formal and content aspects. The last variable, reserved for the academic field under study, directly addresses the main objective as regards tourism. The results show a great global and multidisciplinary interest in digital literacy (DL), mainly from students. There is also a parallel between the integration of ICT into society and the growing evolution of case studies, as well as little interest in their development in specific areas such as tourism studies. Despite good results in general terms, the lack of specialization poses challenges that require greater involvement of training institutions in the sense of providing future professionals with the necessary tools to face them successfully, especially in sectors such as tourism where ICTs are a key piece.
