The present article shows how the learning and personal motivation of the students in Geotechnics are improved through the realization of computer practices and thanks to the use of a software adapted to their needs. By means of a simple interface of data entry and output of results, students will master abstract concepts such as the excess pore pressure and the average degree of consolidation, while reinforcing their personal motivation, both to face the content of the subject and those of other disciplines of the Civil Engineering Degree.

This research is motivated by the large number of students who find it difficult to understand the concept of mathematics because generally mathematics is an abstract subject so that the teacher must strive for learning to be concrete by applying learning that can relate the concept to the real life of students. One of the efforts is to apply a contextual teaching and learning approach to present learning that is full of abstract concepts to have a close relationship with students' daily lives. This type of research is a classroom action research conducted in class IV / A SDN 003 Sungai Salak. The number of research subjects was 24 students. The instrument used to analyze students' conceptual understanding used a multiple choice concept comprehension test. The results showed that students' understanding of mathematical concepts in the first cycle was 68.61 with 17 students who completed or 70.83%. In cycle II students' understanding of mathematical concepts increased to 71.11 with classical completeness of 83.33% where as many as 20 students were able to achieve the specified completeness. The conclusion based on the results of this study is that the application of the contextual teaching and learning approach can improve the understanding of the mathematical concepts of grade IV / A students of SDN 003 Sungai Salak on the subject of circumference and area of simple flat shapes.

A system of vertical drains combined with vacuum preloading is an effective method for promoting radial flow to accelerate soil consolidation. This study presents the analytical modeling of the consolidation of vertical drains incorporating vacuum preloading considering both vertical and horizontal drainage. The effects of a number of dimensionless parameters involving the drain length, soil permeability, and vacuum pressure are examined through average excess pore pressure, degree of consolidation, associated settlement, and time factor analyses. An analysis of selected case histories compliments the use of the proposed solutions. Design charts are also presented for practical use.Key words: analytical solution, consolidation, design charts, vertical drains.

There can be a range of reasons to record lectures or presentations, from the creation of resources to meeting the needs of distant students. Of course recordings are one-way. The information in them flows from the recorded file to students and student interaction with recordings is generally limited to interacting with the controls of the player, that is, they can pause, stop, and replay the recording in part or in its entirety. It can be argued that this interaction adds another level of access to educational presentations. While this low level of interaction can have positive educational outcomes it cannot be equated with interactions between students and teachers. Clearly the person-to-person interactions have the potential for far greater educational outcomes ranging from the answering of questions to the exploration and extension of the subject area. In cases where students are distant from teachers and interact with recorded resources other technologies and techniques are need to provide viable two-way communications channels between them. All learning technologies impose on teaching and learning activities and recordings of presentations are no exception. It is argued that recordings by themselves seldom, if ever, are sufficient for effective and efficient learning in higher education. However, it is suggested that recordings when used in conjunction with other learning technologies and techniques can be a fundamental part of the learning experience.

Lam [1], explained how mathematics is not only a technical subject but also a cultural one. As such, mathematical proofs and definitions, instead of simply numerical calculations, are essential for students when learning the subject. Hence, there must be a change in Hong Kong’s local teachers’ pedagogies. This author suggests three alternative way to teach mathematical philosophy through infinity. These alternatives are as follows: 1. Teach the concept of a limit in formalism through story telling, 2. Use geometry to intuitively learn infinity through constructivism, and 3. Implement schematic stages for proof by contradiction. Simultaneously, teachers should also be aware of the difficulties among students in understanding different abstract concepts. These challenges include the following: 1. Struggles with the concept of a limit, 2.Mistakes in intuitively computing infinity, and 3. Challenges in handling the method of proof by contradiction. Adopting these alternative approaches, can provide the necessary support to pupils trying to comprehend the above mentioned difficult mathematical ideas and ultimately transform students’ beliefs [2]. One can analyze these changed beliefs against the background of con-ceptual change. According to Davis [3], “this change implies conceiving of teaching as facili-tating, rather than managing learning and changing roles from the sage on the stage to a guide on the side”. As a result, Hong Kong’s academic results in mathematics should hopefully improve.

The basics for preparing teaching materials are very important. The very first thing to consider when you are planning a learning experience is what exactly you intend your students to learn. Onsider the approach you would like students to take to their learning in your subject (The way in which you intend student to learn will, in many respects, dictate how you teach). Plan to evaluate your teaching and the subject regularly. Regular evaluation will enable you to improve the quality of the course and your teaching. This can be done by keeping a journal of activities and changes you would like to make (and the reasons for them!), by having other teachers 'sit in' on some classes, by asking the students what they have understood to be most important in each session, by having a focus group of students discuss important teaching and learning issues, and by using the Student Feedback Survey system.

Through analyzing excess pore pressure dissipation datum measured by CPTU probe and pore pressure mini-transducers on CPTU model test, the consolidation coefficient of soil of CPTU model test has been computed. Based on axis-symmetric consolidation model and Terzaghi consolidation theory, the computing equation of soil horizontal consolidation coefficient on CPTU model test has been acquired; on CPTU model test 50% degree of consolidation has been applied as calculate standard to compute soil horizontal consolidation coefficient, and dissipating time of 50% degree of consolidation can be acquired by normalized excess pore pressure dissipation curves based on excess pore pressure dissipation datum; through a series of indoor consolidation tests, the consolidation coefficient of remolded soil of CPTU model test sampling by horizontal and vertical direction has been acquired, and the results show that vertical consolidation coefficient is about 1.6 times greater than horizontal consolidation coefficient on indoor consolidation test, and large difference between horizontal and vertical property of remolded clay soil on CPTU model test has been existed; compared with the value of two test methods, the value of horizontal consolidation coefficient acquired by CPTU model test is roughly 100 times greater than the value of horizontal consolidation coefficient acquired by indoor consolidation test. The achieved result can provide a foundation for further study for CPTU mechanism.

The subject of alignment is not new to the world of education. Today however, it has come to mean different things and to have a heuristic value in education according to research in different areas, not least for neuroscience, and to attention to skills and to the alternation framework.This paper, after looking at the classic references that already attributed an important role to alignment in education processes, looks at the strategic role of alignment in the current context, outlining the shared construction processes and focusing on some of the ways in which this is put into effect.Alignment is part of a participatory, enactive approach that gives a central role to the interaction between teaching and learning, avoiding the limits of behaviourism, which has a greater bias towards teaching, and cognitivism/constructivism, which focus their attention on learning and in any case, on that which separates a teacher preparing the environment and a student working in it.

The purpose of this research is to know how to incerease the students’ learning achievement that has been applied learning contextual task-based learning model and to know the influence of contextual learning in  the task-based teaching model to improve achievemen and motivation to learn the material pe civis lesson.   This research is an action research by theree rounds. Each round consists of four phases. Design activities are observation, and revesion. The subject of the research is XI grade students of Bina Informatika Ternate accademic year 2015/2016. Data obtained in the form of a formative test results, observation sheet teaching and learning activities. The results of the research showed that students’ achivement increased from round I to III that the round 1, (70.00 % ), (92,50 %)  3 cycles, conclusions of this research is the method of cooperatif learning can be a positive influence on students motivation and achievement in material udaya politics in Indonesia. It means that this model can be used as one of the alternative learning for Pkn.            Kata  kunci: PKn, cooperative learning method

This research is based on the low learning outcome of mathematics students of grade VIII SMPN 4 Tambang.The purpose of this research is to improve the learning outcomes of mathematics through the application ofinquiry learning with CTL approach. This research was conducted in SMPN 4 Tambang with subject of classVIII-D students with 29 students. This classroom action research was started in early January 2017. Theresearch instrument consists of a teacher and student activity sheet instrument and a test of learning outcomes.Based on the results of research and discussion can be concluded that the strategy of inquiry learning with CTLapproach can improve student learning outcomes of mathematics on the subject matter of algebraic form inclass VIII-D SMPN 4 Tambang. On the basic score the number of students who reached the KKM as many as 14people (48.28%) with an average score of 58.79. In cycle I the number of students who reach the KKM of 19people (65.52%) with an average value of 65.69%. In cycle II the number reaching KKM is 25 people (86.21%).

The objective of this study was to investigate whether the application of Teams-Games-Tournament Technique improve the students achievement in Speaking. This study was an classroom action research. The subject of this study was class XI IPA 3 SMA Muhammadiyah 8 Kisaran which consists of 35 students. The study was conducted in two cycles, cycle I consisted of three meetings and cycle II was consisted of three meetings. The instruments for collecting data were quantitative (oral speaking test) and qualitative data (observation sheet and diary note). Based on speaking scores, students’ score kept improving in every evaluation and based on observation sheet and diary note, it was found that teaching and learning process ran well. Students could enlarge their thinking process. The result of this study showed that Teams-Games-Tournament improved students’ achievement in speaking.
