Purpose: To examine the effect of control functions on the financial performance of Saccos in Meru County.Methodology: The study adopted a cross-sectional mixed design method. The study targeted a sample size of 96 respondents arrived by multiplying 4 respondents in the 24 Saccos as a basis of analysis who were operation managers, senior risk managers, internal auditors and accountants in the 24 Saccos selected Saccos in Meru County. Data was collected through use of closed-ended questionnaires and the output presented descriptively by use of mean and standard deviation. Inferential statistics such as correlation coefficient β, coefficients of determination R and P-values was used from a multiple regression equation to measure the direction, strength and significance of the relationship between control activities and financial performance of Saccos. ANOVA was utilized to verify the goodness of fit of the model. Results: The study indicated that there was significant relationship between control functions and financial performance of Saccos in Meru County.Unique contribution to theory, policy and practice: The study contributed uniquely that there was a positive effect of control functions on the financial performance of Sacco banks in Meru County. The control functions should be readily available and continually updated by Sacco managers as they are the heart of the Saccos. If the functions are not working then it means the operations will eventually be paralyzed. This can be achieved by ensuring the guiding policies and guidelines are always available at the disposal of the user. Reviews should also be done regularly by Sacco regulators such as SASRA so as to ensure they are not outdated and to match the changing needs of the market and functional requirements. It is also recommended that physical control should always be done by operations heads in Saccos to avoid laxity from the operations. The approach of contingency theory to the study explained how the design and function of organizations are affected by conditional factors such as technology, organization customs, and the external environments. Different organizations have different organizational structure and their effectiveness is determined by a blend of the right type of organizational structure, organization size, environmental volatility, and technology. When the functions are well controlled by Sacco boards, updated performance of the entire system is enhanced.

Evaluation of the mandible was used for age and sex determination in the forensic field and it established the treatment planning in dentistry. The present study aims to determine mandibular length growth on male and female group aged   9-25 years old using panoramic radiograph. The research was conducted using analytical cross-sectional design method. The subject of this research was 412 panoramic radioraphs of patients aged 9-25 years old. It involved a totalsamples of 207 males and 205 females. This research was conducted from May to October 2017 in RSGM Padjadjaran University Bandung to meassure the length and height of mandibula from the point in condyleus to mentone. The MannWhitney test results showed a significant difference in mandibular length between men and women and no significant difference between the right andleft mandibular length in men and women. There is a difference between male and female mandibular length growth, in which the increase of growth of mandibular length in female is earlier than that of male. Male mandibular length is greater than female.

In car-dependent societies like New Zealand, getting the right balance between mobility and safety could improve outcomes for older people but will require changes to policy and practice. Driving cessation is a major life transition with many impacts, and adult children are frequently involved in both the transition to non-driving and maintaining mobility afterward. This cross-sectional study ( N = 675) sought perspectives of family members of drivers aged 65 or older enrolled in a longitudinal study. Most (94%) were adult children, two thirds were women, and 19% were moderately to extremely anxious about their parent’s driving. Loss of independence, driving’s role in identity, and reluctance to rely on family were recognized as important barriers to driving cessation. Most (80%) felt that families, as well as older drivers, would be adversely affected by driving cessation. Families identified accessible local information and services, alternative transport, and community-based programs for drivers and families as assistance most needed.

Performance is influenced by ability, work motivation, job satisfaction. Some explained in Rivai's theory (2005) ; Bittel, L.R and Nestrom, J.W (1991) ; Gibson (2001) ; Usman (2008), where the common problems faced by organizational leaders. The right nursing process activities have not been carried out adequately by the nurses, which has an impact on the hospital occupancy rate. The high turnover data in 2017 was 18% compared to 2016 as much as 12%. This study uses an analytical survey with a quantitative approach, using a cross sectional design, this population is 89 people, in this study researchers used the entire population to be sampled. Data analysis method Partial Least Square (PLS). The results showed that the variable Ability of Gibson's theory (2001) was able to explain as much as 90,8% (goodness of fit), and the remaining 9,2% could be found by indocators / variables outside the theory under study. Maslow's Work Motivation Variable (1943) is able to explain 80,1% (goodness of fit), and the remaining 19,9% can be found indicators / variables outside the theory under study. Nurse Performance Variables theory of Mondy and Noe (1990) ; Tsui, et, al. (1997) ; L. Mathis and John H. Jackson (2002) ; Simamora (2004) is able to explain 86,6% (goodness of fit), and the remaining 13,2% can be found indicators / variables outside the theory under study. Overall performance is influenced by ability and motivation, but job satisfaction has no effect. It is recommended that the hospital be carried out efforts to increase capacity, namely the ability to interact, conceptual abilities, and technical abilities, while for work motivation, namely physical, sense of security, compassion, self actualization and appreciation.

Background In 2002, the Nepalese abortion law went from being highly restrictive to fully liberal. This study aimed to explore a local community’s perception of the situation for unmarried Nepalese women wanting to practice their legal right to abortion. Methods The study comprised a cross-sectional survey and in-depth interviews with men and women above the age of 16 years living in the Makwanpur District, Nepal. The final data included 55 questionnaires and 16 interviews. The questionnaire data was univariate analysed, while a condensation of meaning analysis was carried out on the interviews. Results The overall awareness of abortion being legal was high, although the extent of knowledge of the specific legal grounds varied. Unmarried women were believed to have access to abortion services, although they risked stigmatisation due to their marital status. The community attitude towards these women having abortions was very negative, hence it differed from the legal acceptance of all women having the right to abortion. This was explained by societal norms on premarital sexual activity. Generally, the participants felt that changing attitudes would be difficult but possible over time. Conclusion A considerable gap exists between the legal acceptance of abortion and community attitudes when it comes to unmarried women as this group encounters barriers when wanting to practice their right. Therefore, these barriers need to be addressed to allow unmarried Nepalese women access to safe abortion services without the risk of being stigmatised. One possible alternative is educational initiatives such as disseminating information vigorously through mass media to create awareness.DOI: http://dx.doi.org/10.3126/hprospect.v12i2.9869 Health Prospect Vol.12(2) 2013: 24-30

Background: A Research glomerular filtration rate (GFR) of 61 patients with type 2 diabetes mellitus with renal scanning 99mTc-DTPA glomerular filtration rate at the hospital 175. Objective: (1) To study characteristics of imaging of renal function. (2) Understanding the relationship between GFR with blood sugar, HbA1c, blood pressure and albuminuria in patients with type 2 diabetes. Methods: Descriptive, prospective, cross-sectional study. Clinical examination, Clinical tests and 99mTc-DTPA GFR gamma - camera renography for patients. Result: GFR of the study group was 75,4 ± 22,3 ml/phut/1,73m2, the left kidney was 35,0 ± 13,0 is lower than the right kidney and 39,8 ± 11,9; p <0,01. There is no correlation between GFR with blood glucose and HbA1c, the risk of reduced GFR in hypertensive group associated is OR = 6,5 with p<0,01; albuminuria (+) is OR = 4,2 with p <0,01; and disease duration > 10 years is OR = 3,5 with p <0.01. Conclusion: GFR of the left kidneys is lower than the right kidney; correlation decreased GFR associated with hypertension, albuminuria and disease duration. Keywords: GFR, diabetes, albuminuria
