Spirit possession is associated with good and bad Spirits. The good spirits comes in loving relationship while the bad is to be cast out. There has been confusion concerning the manner of casting out or healing in the churches. Those who practice it, want to link their practices to the ministry of Jesus. There are frequent testimonies to divine healing at evangelism campaigns, however, there are small number of definite miracles of healing compared to the great numbers who were prayed for. The healing may be termed ‘miraculous’ in the sense of being a wonderful sign of God’s activity. The findings from the research, was that the healing was real. Some miracles were instantaneous, others take some time to manifest. The miracles lead to conversion of the individual. The method adopted in the research is critical analysis and socio-religious.

Autonomia do Indivíduo. Escola sem Partido Reflections about ‘Escola sem Partido’ inspired by the theories of Paulo Freire and Pierre BourdieuAnalyzing the theories of Pierre Bourdieu and Paulo Freire on education, as well as the academic and political position of the authors on the theme, the article intends to reflect on the project “Escola Sem Partido” and its implication in relation to the practice within the classroom. This movement, which recently gained prominence in the Brazilian scenario, is against what it calls the political and ideological indoctrination of students by teachers and the usurpation of the rights of parents in the moral and religious education of their children. It was found that in the current Brazilian scenario there is an initiative to reduce the force of critical analysis within schools. The very nature of the “Escola Sem Partido” has this premise, since the intention to discredit the teacher’s political position with his students demonstrates that the purpose is to disqualify the initiative to encourage a critical conscience. What, in many ways is discussed in the present study, contributes to the oppressed and oppressive relationship to thrive. Keywords: Education. Autonomy of the Individual. The Situationists defined the increasingly spectacularized society (The Society of the Spectacle ) as the alienation of the individual by an increasingly mediated and commoditised modern world that has spread across the globe, pacifying and alienating its audience with the manufacture of lack and the control of desire. Set dead against this spread of spectacular culture, the Situationists sought to free themselves from the commoditisation and mediation of everyday experience. By employing direct action and the creation of “situations,” they attempted to make clear the restrictive boundaries, both intellectual and environmental, that the habituated processes of modern capitalism (in the form of production and consumption, work and leisure) had placed upon society. In the era of the emerging digital or interactive Spectacle that now permeates every aspect of our culture, what has been added to the Spectacle is the illusion of agency administered through the new technological conduits. Virtual environments, for example, deliver visitation and visualization of places that, despite attempts at access by the viewer, remain remote. However, in our new digitally enhanced cultural spaces, despite restrictions, Situationist style interventions can still be made. Views can be expressed that had no outlet in previous media forms, allowing for the development of communities and exchange of ideas that require, at least in some part, the agency of the individuals taking part in them. Situationist theory takes its place in helping to describe such activities, even though, in some cases, the polemic is often watered down. Here we shall consider a number of examples of this kind of intervention, in relation to the Situationist practices of the dérive and détournement, to help give some structure to the critical analysis.

Foucault, Governmentality, Neoliberalism and Adult Education - Perspective on the Normalization of Social RisksThe article deals with the relevance of the work of Foucault to critical analysis of the political concept of lifelong learning that currently dominates. This concept relates to the field of adult education and learning. The article makes reference to the relatively late incorporation of Foucault's work within andragogy. It shows the relevance of Foucault's concept of a subject situated within power relations where the relation between knowledge and power plays a key role. The analysis of changing relations between knowledge and power will help us to understand important features of neoliberal public policies. The motif of human capital is key. The need to continually adapt to the changing economic and social conditions follows on from the neoliberal interpretation of learning, and the individual is to blame for failure on the labour market or in life generally.

Purpose. The aim of the article is to try to integrate the structure of a spa product and business model of the spa sector, with particular emphasis on the value proposition for the client perceived through the prism of the core benefits in the spa product. Method. Through critical analysis of the literature, the work cites key categories of value configuration and examples for the sector of spa enterprises, and then relates this knowledge to the issue of the structure of a spa product. Findings. As a result of the discussed discussions, a schema of a spa product was developed, with particular emphasis on the core of the product, the actual, extended and potential product, and components of the business model. Research and conclusions limitations. The weakness of the conducted research is their generalization, which although it is intended, paradoxically does not take into account the individual specifics of individual spa plants and the type of spa raw material used in them (salt, peloids, thermal and brine). Practical implications. The article provides a diagram of a spa product integrated with the business model. Originality. Until now, the values for the spa client have not been characterized. The work fills the gap in the core of the spa product in the context of the business model. Type of paper. The work is of a conceptual nature based on literature review and market cases.

Life saving or life sustaining treatment may not be instigated in the clinical setting when such treatment is deemed to be futile and therefore not in the patient’s best interests. The concept of futility, however, is related to many assumptions about quality and quantity of life, and may be relied upon in a manner that is ethically unjustifiable. It is argued that the concept of futility will remain of limited practical use in making decisions based on the best interests principle because it places such high demands on the individual responsible for decision making. This article provides a critical analysis of futility (in the context of the best interests decision-making principle), and proposes an ethically defensible notion of futility.

Historically, psychiatry and clinical psychology focused on understanding how stressful life conditions led to psychiatric disorders. With the rise of positive psychology, the focus shifted to thriving through adversity and to concepts such as resilience. However, the number of mental disorders is still increasing. Due to a neoliberal Western decontextualizing stance in psychology, the concept of resilience is at risk of reproducing power imbalances and discrimination within our society. Resilience is analysed from a critical perspective, mostly with a Marxist point of view, including Foucauldian discursive approaches, as well as a biomedical critique of the current mental health system, to illustrate the shortcomings of Western psychologies. This article illustrates how a contextualized understanding of resilience that accounts for political, historical, and socioeconomic contexts at analytical levels besides the individual may overcome this ethnocentric and neoliberal bias.

A detailed review of a recent data science book by Hadley Wickham and Garrett Grolemund is developed herein. Technical book reviews should provide a guide to the readers, a sense of the appropriate audience, the specifics of the software/language, and identify critical thinking questions that emerge through reading the specifics of these books. This is a pre-print, extended version of a review of 'R for Data Science', and it provides a relatively comprehensive framing of this particular book. The context and background of the authors is introduced, key elements of this book - primarily the workflow proposed and the value of the tidyverse - are summarized, and a critical analysis of the book was done. The following critical questions were addressed in the review. (1) Does this book (or any data science book for that matter) effectively communicate basic versus advanced data science concepts to the reader? (2) Does this book extend or improve upon previous resources particularly for the individual in- terested in using and learning data science to do statistics in R? (3) Can this book be read as a general data science book and by extension how much is this an R versus RStudio book? The importance of reading a book associated with tools one uses in computer science such as R versus rapid, online solution-based reading is very effectively established in 'R for Data Science'. Time spent with a technical book providing the big picture for the tools one uses to solve problems in R is important for deeper learning and insights.

In the midst of a natural disaster communities look for critical help and support. Wellington city is particularly vulnerable with one main road to and from the city, where a rupture in the Hikurangi Subduction Zone could cause an AF8 scenario, cutting Wellington City off from many critical resources. Civil Defence Centers were used until 2016 as a means of community support in the midst of such a scenario, however these centers have now been removed, with emphasis placed on the individual to be able to fend for themselves.

This thesis researches into how analysis of past disasters and a community’s response can reveal how architecture is able to be developed with disaster relief functionality in mind. Through critical analysis into current disaster responses both nationally and internationally and how they perform when disaster strikes, it is discovered that a community is left vulnerable in the key 24-72 hours post event. Architecture has the ability to bridge serious gaps in current relief plans and through processes taken in this thesis, final research and design frameworks have been established and applied into the developed design outcome.

Taking into consideration the human condition alongside locational and demographical aspects, the need for at risk locations to be pre-prepared and for design to be developed with a secondary disaster relief functionality was highlighted. The objective of this research is to develop an architectural response that offers a means of pre-established disaster relief for the city of Wellington, opening up discussion and further critical analysis into current disaster relief responses within New Zealand. The design works alongside established government plans, and potential post-disaster relief efforts in order to produce a final design that connects with multiple responses following a disaster.

Through understanding how architecture reacts in the midst of a disaster, with research closely following alongside design a framework is achieved in order to produce a design that will support Wellington’s residents both pre and post disaster. This research changes the way architecture responds to disasters and disaster relief, to provide critical support in the initial 24-72 hour period following a disaster regardless of demographics.
