The objective of the study is examining dating related abuse on girl students in Bonga University. A mixed research method was used for the data collection and analysis of this study in a sample of 166 regular undergraduate female students. Systematic random and purposive sampling methods were used for data gathering. This research’s result shows that there is a prevalence of dating related abuse with the dominance of emotional abuse. Cultural influence and considering abuse as a sign of love are the major contributing factors and self-esteem is negatively correlated with the three abuse types. Therefore, the researcher concludes; dating abuse can be both a cause and a consequence for low self-esteem and considering abuse as a sign of love which is influenced by society’s culture, has contributed most to its prevalence. Finally, the researcher recommends that attitudes and norms related to gender inequality needs to be challenged and heavy measures should be taken on those who break the law in order to deter others.

It has been said before that “No one forgives with more grace and love than a child”. And also no one can compete the child with his outstanding memory which can’t forget deep injuries during childhood, especially when these multiple abuses come from his/her parents and other relatives. Being physically abused, emotionally abused, and neglected from her biological parents and sexually abused from one of her relatives, this 25 years old female, who is a student in the university, suffers from severe depression and very low level of self-esteem. The current research aims at decreasing the client’s depression and improving her self-esteem through case study techniques, assessing her needs, fears, deep feelings and behavior using a variety of methods, including projective tests, life history, interviews and direct observation of her behavior. The researcher will attempt to help this female using the techniques of the “Forgiveness Therapy” which is described by a number of clinicians and researchers as a promising approach to anger-reduction, depression healing and the restoration of general emotional and mental health. IntroductionSexual dysfunction (SD) is defined as the deterioration of sexual response cycles caused by anatomic, physiologic or psychologic reasons.ObjectivesWe believe that SD is closely related to self-esteem and childhood trauma (CT).AimIn this study, the level of self-esteem and CT in patients diagnosed with SD vs. controls are aimed to be compared. In addition, relationship between complaints of SD self-esteem and CT variable subgroups are planned to be investigated.MethodTwenty-four patients visited Prof. Dr. Mazhar Osman Psychiatric Hospital with matching defined criteria and 24 control counterparts statistically matching were taken sociodemographic data form, Rosenberg Self-esteem Scale (RSS) and Childhood Trauma Questionnaire (CTQ-28) was applied.ResultsCTQ-28 averages and RSS variables which are sensitivity to criticism, depressive mood, psychosomatic symptoms, feeling threatened in interpersonal relationships, degree to participate in discussions, relationship with father were higher in patients with SD (P < 0.05). Considering the relationship between complaints of SD and CTQ-28 subscales, physical abuse, emotional abuse, physical neglect, emotional neglect averages of patients were observed significantly different rooted by genitopelvic pain/penetration disorder and premature ejaculation and in emotional neglect by premature ejaculation and low libido combination (P < 0.05).ConclusionsIn literature, there are many studies that show CT leads to SD and several studies state that self-esteem is affected in patients with SD [1]. CT must be considered and determined in the goal of treatment of SD.Disclosure of interestThe authors have not supplied their declaration of competing interest.

We tested the hypothesis that childhood emotional abuse would be positively associated with fearful attachment, whereas it would be negatively associated with secure attachment and self-esteem, with attachment mediating the linkage between childhood emotional abuse and self-esteem. Chinese college students (N = 554) completed measures of childhood emotional abuse, secure/fearful attachment, and self-esteem. Dual mediation analysis based on 5,000 bootstrap samples showed that childhood emotional abuse affected self-esteem through both secure attachment and fearful attachment, with the indirect effect through secure attachment being stronger relative to that through fearful attachment. However, the direct effect of childhood emotional abuse on self-esteem was nonsignificant. The association patterns among childhood emotional abuse, secure/fearful attachment, and self-esteem show the need for more focus on developing children's secure attachment style to shape their positive self-esteem later in life.

Resistiveness to care is very common among patients of dementia as these patients do not take medicines, meals or bath very easily. Amongst different factors, the type of communication between resident dementia patient and health caregiver is an important contributing factors in development of resistiveness to care. Elderspeak (baby talk) is type of communication in which health caregivers adjust their language and style, while interacting with elderly and dependent patients. Most of times, caregivers tend to adapt elderspeak as they handle weak and fragile older patients for routine activities. Although elderspeak is meant to provide support, warmth and care to patients, yet patients perceive elderspeak as patronizing and it induces negative feeling about self-esteem. The present review discusses the studies discussing the use of elderspeak in communication and development of resistiveness to care in resident patients of dementia.

The study aimed at predicting the defeatist behavior through determining self-esteem among undergraduate female students majoring in kindergarten at Al-Hussein Bin Talal University. The descriptive correlative method was used to accomplish the study’s findings. The study sample consisted of 41 female students of the academic year (2018/2019). For the purpose of collecting data, two scales were used: the first one is Rosenberg’s (1989) scale for self-esteem and the second is Kabatay’s (1999) scale to measure the students’ defeatist behavior. Results of the study showed that self-esteem among the female students is at a lower level, whereas their level of defeatist behavior is medium. The results also showed that there was an inverse correlation between self-esteem and the defeatist behavior.

This study examined the effects of imprisonment on self-esteem among female inmates in selected prisons in Kenya. Descriptive survey design was adapted by this study. A total of 295 respondents formed the survey sample, comprising of 291 female inmates’ and four (4) prison staff. Simple random sampling and purposive sampling methods were used to select the respondents. The study utilized questionnaires, interview schedules and an observation guide as instruments for data collection. Piloting was conducted in one selected prison to enable the researcher to improve on the reliability and validity of the instruments. Reliability of the instruments was estimated using Cronbach alpha coefficient. The instruments yielded a reliability coefficient of 0.857 which was considered appropriate for the study. Descriptive and inferential statistics were used for data analysis. The study found that there was significant relationship between imprisonment and inmate’s self-esteem. The study established that most women in prison had low to moderate self esteem such that inmates felt more worthless compared to other people ever since they were imprisoned. The study recommended the need to for prisons come up with rehabilitative programmes employing self esteem strategy to improve on inmates self esteem.
