The specific objectives were to examine the effect of raw material sources, manufacturing and logistics as metrics of supply chain management on company’s profitability through product value creation. Methodology: The study utilized survey research design. Primary source such as questionnaire response was used to proof the originality of the study. The population of the study comprised of marketing, purchasing and supply and management, top and middle staffs working in the three selected manufacturing companies in Nigeria includes Uniliver Nigeria Plc, Nestle Nigeria Plc and Cadbury Nigeria Plc, all the headquarters situated in South-West, Nigeria. The study utilized convenience sampling technique to drawn sample of 235 and all respondents were used for the study. 5-point likert scale options of structured questionnaire were used in the study to obtain respondents response.  Content validity was used to determine the validity of the instrument and the value of the test of reliability was 0.87 which was calculated using test-retest reliability method. Simple linear regression analyses were used to test the hypotheses. Findings: Three hypotheses were tested in line with the objectives of the study and it was revealed that raw material sources, manufacturing and logistics as metrics of supply chain management have significant effect on company’s profitability through product value creation. Recommendations: The study suggested some recommendations as follows: Manufacturing company’s manager  should establish a favorable relationship with suppliers in order to source the right quality and quantity of raw material that create value to company’s  product,  Manager should involve in proper planning of both human and material resources to showcase the effectiveness of supply chain management in the business organization and manufacturing activities should be paramount among manufacturing firms for efficient transformation of raw material to finished product. Better coordination of manufacturing activities necessitates product value creation

Supply chains are typically considered to consist of many stages across several organizations starting from raw material sources through component production to manufacturing and further on via distribution operations to B-to-B customers and consumers. This paper focuses on analyzing product-related characteristics: what the characteristics mentioned in the literature are, and the impact they have on the structure and design of supply chains. The authors look at how product characteristics in general influence the design of supply chains, and their effect on different stages of supply chains. In the literature analysis, the focus is on examining the impact of product characteristics on supply chain strategy and structures, purchasing, manufacturing, distribution, and logistics services. Finally, they draw conclusions on the above. The contribution of this paper is twofold. Firstly, based on supply chain management literature, the authors propose a framework for analyzing the impact of product characteristics on supply chains. Secondly, at the end of the paper, they extend the framework by summarizing the key results pertaining to each supply chain management area under analysis. These include the characteristics of the main frameworks used in previous studies and the generic product characteristics used.

This case is about the Supply Chain of a pesticides producer (disguised as a hybrid seeds producer) that imported the raw material for its pesticides from its mother company in Switzerland, formulated and packed it in Karachi, and sold it throughout Pakistan. The company had two large warehouses in the country, many regional ware-houses, and a chain of retail outlets throughout the country. The company had been steadily losing market share to cheaper "generics" in the last 15 years. The company had also changed hands a few times in the last ten years and had been under pressure to reduce working capital requirements. The case looks at the typical challenges in supply chain management.

This study aims to investigate whether, and the means by which, supply chain managers of large manufacturing companies adopt a context-dependent approach (also called contingency approach) in their supply chain decisions; it empirically explores the correlation between logistics complexity-related contextual conditions and supply chain management (SCM) objectives and decision areas. The study involves a comprehensive literature review, followed by an analysis of survey data (based on a sample of 108 large manufacturing companies in Brazil), using cluster analysis, factor analysis and binary logistic regression. In this study, we not only investigate the major effects of supply chain objectives and decision areas as predictors of the logistics complexity of manufacturing but also investigate their second order interactions. Statistically significant relationships were found between logistics complexity-related contextual conditions and objectives and decision areas involving the supply chain. The managers of large companies who were surveyed considered different objectives and decision areas to be critical to the achievement of supply chain excellence when their companies had different levels of logistics complexity.

The global shift in ecological movement has significant impacts on business operation of manufacturing firms that are located in developing countries. The intense pressure of being environmentally sustainable has caused Green Supply Chain Management (Green SCM) concept to emerge as an important corporate environmental strategy for manufacturing companies. Information technologies and systems have permeated in most business activities, in which, they extend important opportunities to resolve environmental issues. However, many researchers, including manufacturers and government bodies often disregard the green concept of information technologies and systems in minimizing environmental issues. A comprehensive review on Green SCM, Green IT and Green IS for sustainable environmental performance in manufacturing companies is presented using Input-Process-Output (IPO) Theory and Technological-Organizational-Environmental (TOE) theory. In bridging the research gap, a model is constructed to link the aforementioned constructs. Next, the paper reports on the development of survey questionnaire using cognitive interviewing strategies, followed up with semi-structured interview to investigate and obtain preliminary findings on the influential factors, green activities and performance outcomes from implementing Green SCM. Lastly, the finalized survey questionnaire was distributed to 60 ISO14001 certified manufacturing companies located in the region of Perak and Kulim. Out of 60 manufacturing companies, only 32 responses received as the dataset in analyzing for improvements in reliability, measurement error, and validity of measured items. The findings from this pilot study explain that internal and external factors have stronger influence over the implementation of green initiatives in supply chain with substantial outcome on environmental performance. The information technologies and systems being the physical resource, capability and backbone to run a business seamlessly are significantly recognized. But, the green component of IT and IS were poorly attended and disregarded to an extent in the process of greening the processes, operations or entire business. Therefore, further investigations are required in the main study to validate the findings obtained here and other possible association between the factors, practices and outcomes in realizing ecological improvements in the supply chain and firm itself.

Abstrac The accounting system is a tool used to organize or collect, collect, and conduct information regarding all company transactions, where employees, company activities, materials and machines can be integrated in such a way that supervision can be carried out. This study aims to find out how to analyze information systems and internal control of raw material supplies at the Ledokan Coffee shop in Binangun Blitar. The data used are qualitative data in the form of some basic analysis from field interviews. The results showed that the Ledokan Coffee Shop has good supply chain management capabilities as evidenced by the existence of suppliers who have long-term cooperative relationships with them. Data yang digunakan adalah data kualitatif berupa beberapa analisis yang mendasar dari wawancara dilapangan. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa Kedai Kopi Ledokan memiliki kemampuan supply chain management yang baik yang dibuktikan dengan adanya pemasok yang memiliki hubungan kerjasama jangka panjang dengan mereka. This research was conducted in the Tannery Industry in Garut – Indonesia, about suplly chain management, research methods using qualitative method, with a single case study. In this case study researchers collecting data through observation, interviews and in-depth interviews with entrepreneurs, academics and expert tannery. Supply Chain Management, in this case, describe the process of delivery of the goods from the supplier, and then processed by the industry, the result posted by the distributor to the subscriber. The Supply Chain Management must provide a level of efficiency in the process of delivering customer value, so that customers can be more satisfied, or in other words from the center (supplier), Company, Chanels (distribution) and Customer (4C). Supply Chain Management will be effective in improving the competitiveness of the industry, either by the supplier of the raw material leather, leather chemicals, leather production machinery, spare parts, and also any other relevant parties if able to improve cooperation between the core industry, supporting industry, and related industry is strong, so each others corroborate (linkage), as well as the distribution of goods to the customer must be of high quality and on time.

PurposeSupply chain resilience capabilities are usually considered in light of some anticipated events and are as passive assets, which are “waiting” for use in case of an emergency. This, however, can be inefficient. Moreover, the current COVID-19 pandemic has revealed difficulties in the timely deployments of resilience assets and their utilization for value creation. We present a framework that consolidates different angles of efficient resilience and renders utilization of resilience capabilities for creation of value.Design/methodology/approachWe conceptualise the design of the AURA (Active Usage of Resilience Assets) framework for post-COVID-19 supply chain management through collating the extant literature on value creation-oriented resilience and practical examples and complementing our analysis with a discussion of practical implementations.FindingsBuilding upon and integrating the existing frameworks of VSC (Viable Supply Chain), RSC (Reconfigurable Supply Chain) and LCNSC (Low-Certainty-Need Supply Chain), we elaborate on a new idea in the AURA approach – to consider resilience as an inherent, active and value-creating component of operations management decisions, rather than as a passive “shield” to protect against rare, severe events. We identify 10 future research areas for lean resilience integrating management and digital platforms and technology.Practical implicationsThe outcomes of our study can be used by supply chain and operations managers to improve the efficiency and effectiveness by turning resilience from passive, cost-driving assets into a value-creating, inclusive decision-making paradigm.Originality/valueWe propose a novel approach to bring more dynamics to the notion of supply chain resilience. We name our approach AURA and articulate its two major advantages as follows: (1) reduction of disruption prediction efforts and (2) value creation from resilience assets. We offer a discussion on ten future research directions towards a lean resilience.

Increases in environmental problems require companies to be more aware towards the environment and take precautions regarding the problems. As a result, companies have started to embrace the concept of green supply chain which includes environmental issues rather than the concept of supply chain which is based on profitability. Green supply chain (GSC) has emerged as an important component of the environmental and supply chain strategies. In order to make a supply chain green, it is necessary to consider all activities in the supply chain such as raw material procurement, inbound logistics, transformation, outbound logistics, marketing, after-sales and appropriate product disposal. This paper aims to review different GSCM dimensions in the literature by explaining green supply chain concept and address the activities/practises that can be used to ensure these dimensions are green.

Supply chain management (SCM) is the integration and strategic alliance involving all the value-creating elements in the supply, manufacturing, and distribution processes from raw material extraction, the transformation process, and end user consumption. This paper explores the SCM activities carried out by electronic manufacturing organizations in Malaysia and determines the correlation between SCM practices and firm performance. A self-administrated questionnaire based survey technique was employed to ascertain the status of SCM adoption and the practices in SCM that are significant for Malaysian electronics manufacturers. The findings suggest that the adoption of SCM activities is reasonably moderate.

The statistical analysis of the data obtained by the survey method was performed with SPSS 22.0 program. According to the findings of the research, the most important barriers in the implementation of green supply chain management are green projects with high investment costs in construction, changing facilities and equipment, as well as the international crisis and economic downturn. These barriers are raw material costs are higher in green applications, green projects having high operating costs, and high prices in green applications unable to compete with lower prices of competitors, respectively. Another finding of the study is that there is no significant difference between the implementation status of the green projects and the duration of the export activity on the barriers encountered in the implementation of GSCM.
