This was supported by coefficient of determination also known as the R square of 48%. Regression of coefficients results showed that provision of enough learning resources and students performance was highly correlated, positively and significantly related (r=0.340, p=0.000).  Provision of incentives and students’ performance was also positively and significantly related (r=0.291, p=0.000). Further, results indicated that provision of rewards and student’s performance were positively and significantly related (r=0.262, p=0.000). It was further established that target setting and students’ performance were positively and significantly related (r=0.228, p=0.000).Unique contribution to theory, practice and policy: The study recommended that the training institutes like KEMI should organize tailor made courses for BOM members to equip them with the right knowledge on best governance practices in schools.

This study is aimed to investigate effect of teachers’ self-efficacy on their attitude towards the implementation of Multicultural Education literacy (MCEL) in Harari Region Secondary Schools. To realize this descriptive survey design with the quantitative approach is adopted. One hundred, teachers are selected by using stratified random sampling technique and then the simple random sampling technique. Data are collected through closed-ended questionnaires. Descriptive and inferential statistical data analysis is employed. The finding showed that the practice of MCEL in school was medium and teachers’ self-efficacy toward implementations of MCEL in the schools was found statistically significant. Self-efficacy in the implementation of MCEL was a statistically significant predictor of teacher’s attitude and practices toward the implementation of MCEL in the schools respectively. Self-efficacy contributed 17% on attitude and 26 % to practices in the implementation of MCEL had a positive impact. Self-efficacy of teachers toward MCEL had a statistically significant moderate positive relationship with teachers’ practices of MCEL. Self-efficacy had a positive impact on the attitude of teachers and practices of teachers in the implementation of MCEL. Based on the findings, it was concluded the study presented for further research in the field and policy action to prepare teachers in multicultural setting curricula and multicultural educators influencing the development of cultural tolerance, mutual understanding, and unity among diverse students. Hence, it was recommended that organizing panel discussion in order to improve self-efficacy and attitude of teachers from multicultural perspectives in line with implementation of multicultural education through media to build tolerance, mutual respect, build positive attitudes, and national building practices among student in the schools. The study examined the effect of performance appraisal practices on teachers’ job performance, and sought to investigate the effect of 1) target setting 2) performance monitoring and 3) employee feedback on teachers’ job performance. A cross-sectional survey design with a mixed-method approach was adopted. The target population of the study was composed of 211 respondents spread across four private universal secondary schools; 207 teachers and four head teachers; and a sample size of 189 respondents with 185 teachers and four head teachers selected using a simple random sampling approach coupled with a fish-bowl technique, while census inquiry was adopted to select head teachers. A self-designed closed-ended questionnaire was administered to collect data from teachers while an interview guide was adopted to collect data from head teachers. The CVI obtained for the instrument was .90 and a reliability index of 931 Cronbach alpha co-efficient. Data was analyzed using frequencies, percentages, and simple regression. Findings indicate that target setting (β = 0.375, p< 0.05), performance monitoring (β = 0.435, p< 0.05) and employee feedback (β = 0.375, p< 0.05) had very strong significant effect on teachers’ job performance. The study concludes that performance appraisal practices can significantly aid teachers’ job performance in private USE schools if well handled in terms of comprehensiveness, clarity and timeliness. It recommends that target setting should involve teachers and their individual differences be reflected; academic meetings should be held monthly and performance support should be extended to teachers; whilst feedback given to teachers ought to be timely, comprehensive and interactive.

Student Council is a representative structure through which students in a secondary school become involved in school affairs. The study set out to investigate student council participation in the management of discipline in public secondary schools in Teso North Sub-County in Busia County, Kenya. The study sought to establish: the influence of student council participation in the formulation of rules and regulations on management of discipline, and the influence of student council involvement in formulating punishment on the management of discipline. The target population was 7379 students and 189 teachers and 27 principals from 27 schools. The research employed descriptive survey design using a random sample of 365 students, 18 teachers and 9 principals. This sample size was determined using Krejcie and Morgan’s table of sample determination and using coefficient variation of 30% and a standard error of 2% through stratified simple random sampling technique. The data was collected using a selfadministered questionnaire. The study established that schools involved students in designing punishment but students never took punishment positively and that common disciplinary problems experienced in schools was due to lack of students involvement. It was further established that students were haphazardly involved in the school management of students’ discipline. Thus the study recommends schools to empower students’ council in which students’ views and ideas are heard and discussed; Ministry of education to organize and offer seminars where school heads are well sensitized on involving students in school management.
