An experiment was conducted on the impact of different levels of bulk densities combination on yield and yield components of wheat. Three bulk density levels 1.00-1.30 (A) g cm-3, 1.30-1.60 (B) g cm-3 and 1.60-1.90 (C) g cm-3 with three different depths (0-15, 16-30 and 31-45 cm) were used in the experiment using silt loam soil (Pedocals). The total treatments were 27 in the experiment with three replications. The experimental design was completely randomized design (CRD). The treatment means were checked at the confidence level of 95% of probability. The soil 0-45 cm deep was shifted from the field (no-till) to the net house and was act as control. The results showed that the number of tillers plant-1, number of leaves plant-1 and thousand grain yield were non-significantly affected by all the treatments while number of seed emerged, root length, dry root weight, plant height, grain yield , biological yield  and harvest index  were significantly influenced by various treatments. The highest number of seed germinated (8.00) was found in the treatment BBB (1.30-1.60 g cm-3 in 0-15 cm, 15-30 cm, 30-45 cm soil depth), BAB (1.30-1.60 g cm-3 in 0-15 cm, 1.00-1.30 g  cm-3 in 15-30 cm and 1.30-1.60 g cm-3 in 30-45 cm soil depth) and BCB (1.30-1.60 g cm-3 in 0-15 cm, 1.60-1.90 g cm-3 in 15-30 cm and 1.30-1.60 g cm-3  in 30-45 cm) while the lowest number of seed emerged (3.6) was found in AAA (1.00-1.30 g  cm-3 in 0-15 cm, 15-30 cm and 30-45 cm soil depth), ACA (1.00-1.30 g  cm-3 in 0-15 cm, 1.60-1.90 g cm-3 in 15-30 cm and 1.00-1.30 g  cm-3 in 30-45 cm soil depth) and CAC (1.60-1.90 g cm -3 in 0-15 cm, 1.00-1.30 g  cm-3 in 15-30 cm and 1.60-1.90 g cm-3 in 30-45 cm soil depth). The highest root length (13.12 cm) was found in the treatment AAA while the lowest root length (10.05 cm) was found in CAC. The highest dry root weight (5.67g) was found in the treatment ABA while the lowest dry root weight (4.79g) was found in control treatment. The highest plant height (42.67 cm) was found in the treatment of BBA while the lowest plant height (29.67 cm) was found in control. The highest biological yield (12.1 metric ton ha-1) was found in the treatment ABA while the lowest biological yield (6.8 metric ton ha-1) was found in control. The highest grain yield (4.4 metric ton ha-1) was found by ABB while the lowest (2.7 metric ton ha-1) was found in the control. The highest harvest index (39.79%) was found in the control while the lowest harvest index (34.54%) was found in CCA. The experiment showed that increasing bulk density above 1.60 g cm-3 resulted in decreasing the yield and yield component of the winter wheat. The number of seed emerged, root length, dry root weight, plant height, grain yield, biological yield and harvest index of wheat were significantly affected by soil bulk density in various depths.

An experiment was conducted at the experimental farm of BINA Sub-station, Gopalganj to determine the effect of spacing on the yield and yield attributing parameters of rice. Four spacings viz. 15 cm × 15 cm, 20 cm × 15 cm, 20 cm × 20 cm and 25 cm × 20 cm were included in the study. The experimental design was a randomized completely block with three replications. Spacing’s 15 cm × 15 cm, 20 cm × 15 cm, 20 cm × 20 cm and 25 cm × 20 cm were adopted 49, 42, 36 and 30 hills per square meter, respectively. Results revealed that different spacing performed significantly differed yield contributing characters (plant height, panicle length, number of effective and non-effective tillers, number of filled and unfilled grain, grain and straw yield of rice. Results indicated that the highest plant height (83.40 cm), panicle length (19.73), number of effective tillers per hill (11.00), number of total grains per panicle (87.73), number of filled grains per panicle (70.53), root length (16.07 cm), root weight (38.00 g per five plants), harvest index (38%), grain yield (4.19 t ha-1) and straw yield (4.50 t ha-1) were found with 25 cm × 20 cm spacing. On the other hand, maximum number of non-effective tillers per hill (1.60) was found in 15 cm × 15 cm spacing. Field experiment were conducted at Yola and Mubi locations to study the effects of increased plant population of five (5) varieties of maize Viz:  SAMMAZ 11, SAMMAZ  14, SAMMAZ 15, SAMMAZ 16, and SAMMAZ 17 on yield and yield component during the 2011 cropping season. The experimental design was a split plot design with maize varieties as the main plot treatments, while plant population, (53,333, 63,333, 80,000 and 106,666) as the sub-plot treatments. The treatment were replicated three (3) times. Characters measured included plant height, number of leaves per plant, number of days to 50% tasseling, number of day to 50 % silking, days to 95% maturity, number of ear per plant, stem diameter, length of ear, diameter of ear, number of grains per ear, 100 grain weight, number of grains per ear. Yield per plot and total grain yield per hectare. The result of the experiments showed that there was significant difference due to varietal effect in plant height at 3 WAS in Yola and at 7 WAS and 9 WAS in Mubi. Variety also affects days to 50% tasseling, days to 50% silking and days to 95% maturity at both locations. Variety also affects ear length at both locations. Interaction of variety and population affected harvest index in Mubi. Population significantly affected yield per plant, yield per plot, total grain yield per hectare in both locations. Combined analysis result showed highly significant effect due to location on plant height at 3 and 5 WAS and also due to variety. Location also affected number of leaves per plant significantly at 3WAS and highly significantly at 5, 7, 9 and 11 WAS. Varieties affected number of leaves per plant at 5 and 9 WAS and was highly significant at 11 WAS.  Location and varieties affected days to 50% tasseling, days to 50 % silking and days to 95% maturity, while population only affected days to 50% silking. Diameter of ear and harvest index was highly significant by location and on number of grains per row. Varieties also showed significant differences in length of ear. Location affected straw weight per plant, while varieties affected yield per plant and yield per plot, weight of 100 grain yield and total grain yield per hectare was also highly significantly affected. Population affected yield per plant, especially the ones in Yola. Straw weight, total grain yield and weight of 100 grain were significantly affected. SAMMAZ 15 which gave a plant population of 106,666 ha-1 is recommended at both locations.

A field experiment was conducted to evaluate the plant height, yield and yield attributes of wheat under different tillage practices and nitrogen level at Dang, Nepal during winter season 2018-19. The experiment was laid out in split plot design with two tillage practices viz. zero tillage and conventional tillage as main plot factor and four level of N viz. 50 kg ha-1, 75 kg ha-1, 100 kg ha-1and 125 kg ha-1 as sub plot factor and each replicated thrice.  The result revealed that there is no significant relation between tillage practice and plant height of wheat while N level significantly affect the plant height. 125 kg N ha-1 recorded the highest plant height (110.7 cm). Zero tillage recorded the highest effective tiller m-2 (254) and grain yield (3.3 t ha-1) whereas spike length, grain spike-1, biological yield and harvest index were not significant with tillage practices. Regarding the N level, 125 kg N ha-1 recorded the highest effective spike m-2 (279), spike length (10.6 cm), grain spike-1 (48), thousand grain weight (46.3 g), grain yield (3.6 t ha-1) and biological yield (9.4 t ha-1). 50 kg N ha-1 recorded the highest harvest index (42.9%). The interaction between the tillage practice and nitrogen level showed the significant effect on grain yield and harvest index where as other parameters showed non-significant relation. The zero tillage with 125 kg N ha-1 recorded the highest grain yield (3.9 t ha-1).

The research was conducted at the Agronomy Field Laboratory, Bangladesh Agricultural University, Mymensingh, to investigate the effect of time of split application of potassium on the yield of three transplanted (T) aman rice varieties. Rice varieties were BRRI dhan39, BRRI dhan40 and BRRI dhan41. Potassium was applied at the rate of 80 kg K ha-1. Experimental plot size was 5m2 (2.5m ×2.0m). Four split application of potassium [K1= Control (No K application), K2= 40 g K plot-1 at 15 DAT (days after transplanting), K3= 20 g K plot-1 at15 DAT+20 g K plot-1 at 30DAT, K4= 10 g K plot-1 at 15 DAT+ 10 g K plot-1 at 25DAT+ 10 g K plot-1 at 30 DAT+ 10 g K plot-1 at 45 DAT] were considered as treatments. From the experiment it was found that split application of potassium had no significant effect on plant height, length of panicle, thousand grains weight. It was evident that two splits application of potassium i.e., 20 g K plot-1 at 15 DAT+20 g K plot-1 at 30 DAT with BRRI dhan41 gave maximum no. of tiller hill-1, effective tiller hill-1, grains panicle-1, grain yield and straw yield, biological yield and harvest index. But varieties differed among themselves in terms of yield contributing characters and yield, and BRRI dhan41 performed the best. Therefore, based on the findings of the present study, it may be concluded that for obtaining higher yield BRRI dhan 41 can be grown following application of potassium at the rate of 80 kg ha-1 in two equal split at 15 and 30 days after transplanting Res. A study was conducted for estimating genetic variability and characters association for eleven yield components using 169 genotypes (13 parents, 78 F1 and 78 F2) of bread wheat through half-diallel mating design during rabi season 2012-13 and 2013-14. The genetic variability, heritability in broad sense, genetic advance, correlation coefficients and path analysis were carried out for the assessment of genotypes through eleven yield component traits namely; days to 50% flowering, days to maturity, plant height, spike length, number of effective tillers per plant, number of grains per spikelet, number of grains per spike, 1000-grain weight, biological yield per plant, harvest index and grain yield per plant. Analysis of variance showed significant differences (at1% level of significance) for all the traits under study in both the generations (F1 and F2). The phenotypic coefficient of variation (PCV) and genotypic coefficient of variation (GCV) were high for plant height followed by number of effective tillers per plant, biological yield per plant, grain yield per plant, while high heritability coupled with high genetic advance were recorded for plant height and spike length in both F1 and F2 generations, respectively. Grain yield per plant was positively and significantly associated with a number of effective tillers per plant, spike length, number of grains per spike, 1000-grain weight, biological yield per plant and harvest index while significantly but negatively associated with plant height. Path analysis revealed that the traits namely biological yield per plant, number of effective tillers per plant, number of grains per spike, plant height and harvest index exhibited positive direct effects on grain yield at both phenotypic and genotypic level in both generation (F1 and F2). These results, thereby suggests that yield improvement in breads wheats could be possible by emphasizing these traits while making selections in early generations.

A set of twenty four rice genotypes including one check variety were grown to estimate study genetic variability, heritability, genetic advance, correlation and path coefficient for 13 quantitative characters, observation recorded to study the genetic variability parameters, correlation coefficient and path coefficient for yield and its attributing traits. High to moderate estimates of GCV and PCV were recorded for test weight followed by spikelets per panicle, grain yield per plant, flag leaf width, flag leaf length, tillers per hill, biological yield and panicles per hill. Grain yield indicated significant positive correlation with plant height followed by tillers per hill, panicles per hill, biological yield and harvest index in terms of phenotypic correlation coefficient whereas in terms of genotypic coefficient it showed positive and significant correlation with plant height, tillers per hill, panicles per hill, biological yield and harvest index. Path coefficient analysis showed positive significant direct effects on grain yield per hill were exhibited by plant height, tillers per hill and harvest index at genotypic level whereas it showed positive and significant direct effect for tillers per hill, flag leaf width, biological yield and harvest index at phenotypic level. Thus, these traits are identified as the efficient and potential for indirect selection for the improvement of rice productivity in the present experimental materials.

The experiment was conducted at the Agronomy Field Laboratory, Bangladesh Agricultural University, Mymensingh during July to December 2013 in the aman season to investigate the effect of age of seedling and nitrogen rates in the nursery bed on growth, yield and yield components of BRRI dhan52. The experiment comprised of three ages of seedlings viz., 30, 35 and 40 day old and four nitrogen rate N1-N@50 kg ha-1, N2-N@75 kg ha-1, N3-N@100 kg ha-1, N4-N@125 kg ha-1. The experiment was laid out in a split plot design with three replications. Age of seedling showed significant differences for shoot weight, survivor, no. grains panicle-1, panicle length, grain yield and straw yield. The highest root weight (0.072 gm-2), plant height (108 cm), total tillers hill-1 (8.22), effective tillers hill-1 (7.03), non-effective tillers hill-1 (1.19), survivor (95.1%), grains panicle-1 (106.2), grain yield (5.57 t ha-1), straw yield (6.26 t ha-1) and harvest index (0.47%) were found by transplanting 40 day old seedlings. The highest shoot weight (0.53 gm-2), 1000 grain wt. (25.3g) was found by transplanting 35 day old seedlings and 30 day old seedlings produced highest sterile spikelets (28.9) and panicle length (23.8 cm). Nitrogen rate in the nursery showed significant differences for shoot weight, root weight, survivor, plant height, total tillers hill-1, effective tillers hill-1, non-effective tillers hill-1, panicle length, grains panicle-1, grain yield and straw yield. Application of 50 kg N ha-1 gave higher plant height (108 cm) and harvest index (0.47%). On the other hand, application of 75 kg N ha-1 produced highest non–effective tillers hill-1 (1.0), grains panicle-1 (100.7), 1000 grain weight (25.3 g) and harvest index (0.47%). Application of 100 kg N ha-1 gave highest total tillers hill-1 (7.85), effective tillers hill-1 (6.85), non–effective tillers hill-1 (1.0), survivor (90.5%) and grain yield (5.01 t ha-1). Application of 125 kg N ha-1 gave highest panicle length (23.75 cm), grains panicle-1 (100.7), non–effective tillers hill-1 (1.0) and sterile spikelets (30.1). Forty day old seedlings grown with 100 kg N ha-1 at nursery found to be better in respect of grain yield. An experiment was conducted at the research field of Department of Agronomy, Bangladesh Agricultural University, Mymensingh during June to December 2012 to investigate the effect of age of tiller seedlings, number of tiller seedlings hill-1 and application of urea super granules (USG) on the yield and yield contributing characters of transplant Aman rice (cv. BRRI dhan52). The experiment consisted of two ages of tiller seedlings viz. 25 and 35-days old, three levels of tiller seedlings hill-1 viz. 1, 3 and 5 seedlings hill-1 and three levels of USG viz. 0, 1.8 (55 kg N ha-1) and 2.7g USG (80 kg N ha-1) four hill-1 in every alternate row. The experiment was laid out in a Randomized Complete Block Design (Factorial) with three replications. The highest plant height, number of effective tillers hill-1, number of total tillers hill-1, number of total spikelets panicle-1, number of grains panicle-1, grain yield and harvest index were found in 1.8 g USG applied @ one granule 4-hill-1. The highest number of sterile spikelets panicle-1 was found in control treatment and the lowest in 1.8 g USG. The highest number of effective tillers hill-1, number of total spikelets panicle-1 and grain yield ha-1 was found when 5 tiller seedlings were transplanted hill-1 combined with 1.8 g USG. Application of urea super granules 1.8 g (55 kg N ha-1) at 10 days after transplanting @ one granule 4-hill-1 in every alternate row with 25 day old tiller seedlings using 5 tiller seedlings hill-1 was found beneficial for grain yield of transplant Aman rice. The field experiment was conducted at the Agronomy Field Laboratory, Bangladesh Agricultural University, Mymensingh during the period from November 2017 to February 2018 in order to assess the effect of nitrogen and phosphorus levels and their interaction on the performance of French bean. The experiment consisted of four levels of nitrogen viz. 80, 100, 120, 140 kg nitrogen ha-1 and four levels of phosphorus viz. 15, 20, 25 and 35 kg phosphorus ha-1. The experiment was laid out in Randomized Complete Block Design with three replications. In case of nitrogen the highest plant height, branches plant-1, chlorophyll content, dry matter, number of effective pods plant-1, length of pod, 1000-grain weight, grain yield, stover yield, biological yield and harvest index were observed in 120 kg nitrogen ha-1. Considering yield attributes against phosphorus treatment the highest plant height, branches plant-1, chlorophyll content, dry matter, length of pod, 1000-seeds weight, grain yield, stover yield, biological yield and harvest index were observed in 25 kg phosphorus ha-1. In case of interaction effect the highest plant height, branch plant-1, chlorophyll content, dry matter, number of effective pods, length of pod, 1000-grain weight, grain yield, stover yield, biological yield and harvest index were observed in 120 kg nitrogen ha-1 and 25 kg phosphorus ha-1. The results obtained in experiment indicate that there is a scope to increase the yield of French bean by applying proper dose of nitrogen and phosphorus fertilizer.

Genetic variability, heritability, genetic advance and correlation coefficients were studied in 104 genotypes of wheat genotypes for yield and yield contributing traits. Both GCV and PCV were found to be moderate for flag leaf area, biological yield per plant, grain yield per plant and ash content. The days to ear emergence, days to maturity, plant height, harvest index and 1000-grain weight low GCV and PCV values were observed. Number of productive tillers per plant and spike length recorded moderate value of PCV and low value of GCV. High estimate of heritability in narrow sense was recorded for number of productive tillers per plant, biological yield per plant, harvest index and grain yield per plant, while it was moderate for days to ear emergence, days to maturity, plant height, flag leaf area, spike length, grains per spike and low heritability were recorded for 1000-grain weight. High heritability coupled with high genetic advance in per cent of mean was recorded for biological yield per plant and grain yield per plant. Grain yield per plant exhibited highly significant and positive association with 1000-grain weight, harvest index, biological yield per plant, grains per spike, number of productive tillers per plant and days to maturity.
