Brakes India is a manufacturer of braking systems in India, with the largest market share. Axle Tech America (ATA) a US based manufacturer, is a supplier of quality, cost effective transaxles, for customers, who manufacture utility vehicles, tractors, lawn mowers, and golf carts. Brakes India supplied machined castings to M/S ATA. The Indian supplier provided six parts, monthly, over a period of four years. The study was aimed at developing a production schedule, that was optimal in normal times, and adapted to capacity contraction due to disruptions such as caused by the pandemic, and consequent lockdown of facilities.

Penjadwalan merupakan aspek yang sangat penting karena didalamnya terdapat elemen perencanaan dan pengendalian produksi bagi suatu perusahaan yang dapat mengirim barang sesuai dengan waktu yang telah ditentukan, untuk memperoleh waktu total penyelesaian yang minimum. Masalah utama yang dihadapi oleh PT. ML adalah keterlambatan penyelesaian order yang mempengaruhi delivery time ke tangan costumer karena pelaksanaan penjadwalan produksi dilantai pabrik belum menghasilkan makespan yang sesuai dengan order yang ada. Oleh kaena itu dituntut untuk mencari solusi pemecahan masalah optimal dalam penentuan jadwal produksi untuk meminimisasi total waktu penyelessaian (makespan) semua order. Dalam penelitian ini, penjadwalan menggunakan metode Simulated Annealing (SA) diharapkan dapat menghasilkan waktu total penyelesaian lebih cepat dari penjadwalan yang ada pada perusahaan.   Scheduling is a very important aspect because in it there are elements of planning and production control for a company that can send goods in accordance with a predetermined time, to obtain a minimum total time of completion. The main problem faced by PT. ML is the delay in completing orders that affect delivery time to customer because the implementation of production scheduling on the factory floor has not produced the makespan that matches the existing order. Therefore, it is required to find optimal problem solving solutions in determining the production schedule to minimize the total time of elimination (makespan) of all orders. In this study, scheduling using the Simulated Annealing (SA) method is expected to produce a total time of completion faster than the existing scheduling in the company.

This paper is under the research background of a switch machine production enterprise informatization projects, and the production schedule is mainly based on customer orders and sales forecasts. This paper mainly studies the combination of similar order processing sheets according to the similarity of types and specifications of products in an order processing sheet, and the experience of master production scheduling personnel, to generate the master production scheduling methods and techniques. Finally, studies the material requirements planning methods based on nested components, focusing on the configuration of parts and components of such products in the product configuration.

Dr Elsa Stone, in her usual organized and lucid fashion, has presented the case for inclusion of pediatric nurse practitioners (PNPs) in private pediatric practices. She bases her conclusions on her nearly 10 years of positive experience with a PNP in her own practice in Connecticut. Dr Stone describes the PNP population and demography, describes the training curriculum of PNPs, and discusses the scope of work of these individuals. She concludes that "there is substantial evidence that PNPs provide quality health care and that collaborative teams of pediatricians and PNPs can provide high-quality, cost-effective care to a broader spectrum of children than can be served by either profession alone." The American Academy of Pediatrics (AAP) has insisted for several years that there is a shortage of pediatricians to meet the expanding needs of the children of the United States. Furthermore, pediatricians—because of system changes—will be expected increasingly to provide a variety of time-intensive services. Dr Stone believes that many of these services can be well provided by PNPs. Within the AAP, there have been some concerns about the role of PNPs. Of particular worry seems to be the possibility that PNPs might decide to practice independently, leading to a lower quality of care for their patients. Less often stated, but clearly an issue, is that PNPs are viewed by some pediatricians as potential competitors. Dr Stone's demographic analysis of what PNPs are currently doing is relevant to these concerns. One third of PNPs work in private pediatric practices or health maintenance organizations.

Abstract. Network models and integer programming are well known variety of decision making problems. A very useful and widespread area of application is the management and efficient use of scarce resources to increase productivity. These applications include operational problems such as the distributions of goods, production scheduling and machine sequencing, and planning problems such as capital budgeting facility allocation, portfolio selection, and design problems such as telecommunication and transportation network design. The transportation problem, which is one of network integer programming problems is a problem that deals with distributing any commodity from any group of 'sources' to any group of destinations or 'sinks' in the most cost effective way with a given 'supply' and 'demand' constraints. Depending on the nature of the cost function, the transportation problem can be categorized into linear and nonlinear transportation problem. We applied Karush-Kuhn-Tucker (KKT) optimality algorithm to solve our problem of transportation with volume discount for a logistic operator in Ghana.

Abstract One currently observes many healthcare institutions rushing to reengineer and install information systems with the expectation of achieving enhanced efficiency, competitiveness, and, it is hoped, higher patient satisfaction resulting from timely, high-quality care. Unfortunately, information system concepts, design, and implementation have not yet addressed the complexity of representing and managing clinical processes. As a result, much of the synergy one might expect to derive from understanding and designing clinical processes to gain efficiency and quality while maintaining humanness is not readily achievable by implementing traditional information systems. In this presentation, with laboratory services as an example, we describe a conceptually different information systems model, which we believe would aid care-givers in their efforts to deliver compassionate, quality care while addressing the highly competitive nature of market-driven healthcare.

Abstract For the optimal operation of power-intensive plants, a challenge which is addressed in this work is to simultaneously determine the optimal production schedule and the optimal day-ahead electricity commitment. In order to ensure stability of the power grid, the electricity suppliers impose a daily electricity commitment to large consumers. The consumers have to commit one day in advance to the amount of energy they are going to purchase and use for a horizon of 24 hours (with an hourly discretization) and in case the actual electricity consumption differs significantly from the committed profile, the consumer is obliged to pay penalties. Since the consumers have to commit to the electricity suppliers before the actual electricity demand is known, uncertainty needs to be taken into account. A stochastic mixed-integer linear programming model is developed to consider two critical sources of uncertainty: equipment breakdowns and deviation prices. Equipment breakdowns can reduce the production capacity and make the actual electricity consumption deviate from the day-ahead electricity commitment. The application of the proposed approach to a continuous power-intensive plant shows the benefit gained from the solution of the stochastic model instead of the deterministic counterpart in terms of reduction of the cost of the energy.
