Novel magnetic nanoparticles coated with dithizone-modified chitosan were prepared. The magnetic adsorbent for magnetic solid-phase extraction was successfully applied to detection of trace copper(ii) ion by graphite furnace atomic absorption spectrometry.

In this work we present a solid phase extraction (SPE) flow-through system coupled to graphite furnace atomic absorption spectrometry (GFAAS) for the determination of Cd(ii) at ultratrace levels.
