The study examined effects of perceived leadership style and organizational commitment on job satisfaction among non-teaching employees of federal universities in South-East Nigeria. Participants in the study were eight hundred and eighty-four non-teaching employees who were randomly selected from three federal universities in South-East Nigeria. The participants were made up of 323 (36.5%) males and 561 (63.5%) females with age range 22 years to 60 years, mean 35.04 years and standard deviation 9.96. The study deployed three instruments: Multi factor leadership questionnaire (MLQ-5X) developed by Avolio & Bass (1990), Minesota Satisfaction Questionnaire (MSQ) developed by Weiss, Dawis, England & Lofquist (1967), and Organizational Commitment Scale (OCS) developed by Mowday, Porter & Steers (1979). The study adopted correlation design and data analysis was done using multiple regression analysis Enter method. Hypothesis one result showed that dimension of perceived leadership style (transactional) predicted job satisfaction at B = 1.18**, P< .001, while hypothesis two result showed that organizational commitment significantly and positively predicted job satisfaction at B = .53**, P< .001. Hence, perceived leadership styles and organizational commitment are significant and positive predictors of job satisfaction among non-teaching employees of federal universities in south-east Nigeria. It was recommended that management within federal universities in south-east should adopt transactional leadership style.

Research has suggested a relationship between leadership style and job satisfaction. This paper examines this relationship in the context of a developing country, viz., South Africa. The objective of the paper is to assess the relationship between the two variables as well as the influence of biographical variables on leadership style and job satisfaction. The survey was based on the Minnesota Satisfaction Questionnaire and the Multifactor Leadership Questionnaire. The results suggest a significant correlation between the three leadership styles, viz., transformational leadership, transactional leadership and laissez-faire leadership, and job satisfaction. There were no significant differences between the biographical variables and the three leadership styles.

The leadership and motivation styleis an essential factor in supporting the performance of nurses. The study was undertaken to determine the correlation between the leadership style to the job satisfaction, and organizational commitment among the head nurses and staff nurses from the government and private hospitals in Serang, Banten, Indonesia. The study used descriptive corelational design. The samples were limited, involving 289 respondents from dr. Drajat Prawiranegara Hospital, Serang (18 head nurses and 183 staff nurses) and Sari Asih Hospital, Serang (6 head nurses and 82 staff nurses). The study found a low positive relationship of the head nurses' transformational leadership style and transactional leadership style against the staff nurses' job satisfaction, r-coefficients of 0.370 and 0.485, respectively. Also, a moderate positive correlation was found on transformational leadership style and transactional leadership style of the head nurses against the organizational commitment of the staff nurses, rcoefficient of 0.606 and 0.609, respectively. It suggested that the staff nurses should be more responsive to the duty inseparable from the rights and obligations as an employee while the head nurse needs to pay attention to physical readiness, mental and psychological of subordinates.

In the hotel industry, high service quality has become a concern to the hotel service providers as a means for gaining a competitive advantage since hotels provide similar services. Apart from that, hotels need to have committed staff towards improving the quality of service. In this context, the organizational commitment of operational employees is necessary for providing better services for the guest. The leadership styles in the hotel industry can provide different motivators that lead to organizational commitment. Therefore, the purpose of the study is to examine the perception of the relationship between leadership styles (transformational and transactional) and organizational commitment. The quantitative approach was applied in this study by using questionnaires through a survey. The data analysis was tested by using the SmartPLS 3.0 software. The results suggested that transactional leadership style and transformational leadership styles have a positive relationship with organizational commitment.

Abstract The main objective of the organization in general is to fulfill the vision and mission of the organization. To meet the achievements in the organization, the initial step is to first form the human resources that are owned to match the description of the needs of the organization. In the process of shaping the character of each individual in the organization, generally the direction of formation is initiated by the leader, because the leader is the determinant of the organization's performance policies. This study aims to determine the transactional leadership style at Bank X in Surabaya. The effect of this leadership style will have an impact on satisfaction and commitment which in turn will improve employee performance. This research is a quantitative type by distributing questionnaires to employees of Bank X in Surabaya using the Smart Partial Least Square. The results showed that the leadership style of leadership had a significant effect on job satisfaction and organizational commitment, this study also found that job satisfaction and organizational commitment had a significant effect on employee performance at Collection Bank X Surabaya.

Abstract: To better understand the organisational commitment of teachers, the current study examined job satisfaction as a mediator between organisational commitment and the three dimensions of leadership, namely transformational, transactional and passive-avoidant. The study involved 381 school teachers in Malaysia, and the multiple-model analysis used showed partial mediation on the negative association of passive-avoidant leadership style with teachers’ commitment to their organisation. The study found a relationship between transformational leadership and organisational commitment through job satisfaction. As expected, job satisfaction also fully mediated between transactional leadership and organisational commitment among teachers, and that teachers who are highly satisfied with their jobs attributed their commitment towards their school to transactional leadership. This study extends the knowledge on the effects of teachers’ leadership styles on their organisational commitments through a mediating factor. Higher education can play an important role in changing pre-service teachers' and future school principals’ mindsets to exhibit transformational and transactional leadership competencies. Therefore, leadership development and training of future school administrators during their tertiary education are important in order to enhance teachers' job satisfaction and commitment.  Keywords: Teachers, Job satisfaction, Leadership styles, Organizational commitment, Malaysia

This study aims to explain transactional leadership, organizational justice and employee empowerment towards employee organizational commitment in the Yogyakarta Social Service office. In this study, the research uses a quantitative approach because the analysis is based on existing theories and is related to the research topic. The theories used by researchers are Transactional leadership theory, Organizational Justice, Employee Empowerment and Organizational Commitment. The sample used was as many as 50 people who were determined by the saturated sample method. The data collection technique used was a questionnaire. The analysis technique used is simple regression with a significant level of 0.05. The results showed that (1) variable, transactional leadership has a positive and significant effect on organizational commitment (2) organizational justice has positive and significant impact on organizational commitment (3) employee empowerment has an effect positive and significant towards organizational commitment. Companies should pay attention to transactional leadership, organizational justice and employee empowerment to increase organizational commitment (4) taransactional leadership, organizational justice and employee empowerment simultaneously towards organizational commitment

Leadership style is known to be an important perquisite for establishing commitment in different organizations. The intention of this paper is to propose a conceptualization of relationship between leadership style and organizational commitment. This proposed relationship is driven by general research question, do specific psychological construct teachers organizational commitment relate to the transformational leadership style and transactional leadership style of principal. In order to fulfill the objective of study, multifactor leadership style questionnaire (MLQ-5X Short) developed by Bass and Avolio and Indian adaptation by Dr. Surendra nath Dubey and teacher’s organizational commitment inventory (TCI-GN) constructed by Noorjahan N. ganihar was utilize to collect the data from randomly chosen sample of 240 teachers from the various higher secondary schools situated at western geographical part of Uttar-Pradesh. The collected data was subjected to reliability test and multiple regression analysis using SPSS version 21.0. The research found that the principals’ participated in the study was higher on transformational leadership style comparative to transactional leadership style. The results also suggests that teachers who are working under the principals possessing either transformational or transactional leadership style tend to rate themselves as committed to organization. However, teachers’ working under transformational principal rate themselves as higher satisfied with job comparative to principals possessing transactional leadership style.

This paper aims to determine the effect of leadership styles on employee job satisfaction. The survey was conducted by administering questionnaires to 400 respondents from different organizations within Pakistan. Transformational leadership style was seen to have a positive effect on various facets of employee job satisfaction. Transactional leadership also turns out to be perceived as having a positive effect on different facets of employee job satisfaction, and so does empowering managerial leadership. It was found that leaders and managers combine the various leadership styles identified in the research paper in proportions that produce a positive result when administering their leadership duties. The proportions at which these leadership styles are combined depend upon the nature of the situation they encounter in the workplace.

This study has investigated the effects of leadership style on organizational performance in small scale enterprises. The major objective was to determine effect of leadership styles on performance in small scale enterprises. Transformational and transactional leadership styles were considered in this study. Transformational leadership behaviours and performance/outcome considered relevant in the study were charisma, inspirational motivation and intellectual stimulation/individual consideration; and effectiveness, extra effort and satisfaction, respectively. Transactional leadership bahaviours and performance/outcome variables were constructive/contingent reward and corrective/management by exception; and effort, productivity and loyalty/commitment, respectively. The study followed a survey design, and employed evaluative quantitative analysis method. Analysis was based on primary data generated through a structured Multifactor Leadership Questionnaire (MLQ) administered on respondents. Responses to research statements were scaled and converted to quantitative data via code manual developed for the study to enable segmentation of the data responses into dependent and independent variables based on leadership behaviours and associated performance variables. OLS multiple regression models were specified, estimated and evaluated. The result showed that while transactional leadership style had significant positive effect on performance, transformational leadership style had positive but insignificant effect on performance. The study concluded that transactional leadership style was more appropriate in inducing performance in small scale enterprises than transformational leadership style and, therefore, recommended transactional leadership style for the small enterprises with inbuilt strategies for transition to transformational leadership style as the enterprises developed, grew and matured.

Departing from the phenomenon in the form of employee performance and job satisfaction is still low, even though transformational and transactional leadership have been running as it should be, this study aims to determine the effect of transformational leadership style and transactional leadership style on employee performance with job satisfaction as an intervening variable in the Bank "XXX ". This study uses a quantitative approach with explanatory and survey research formats. Data collection used a questionnaire to 126 respondents which were determined by simple random sampling. The data were processed using path analysis techniques assisted by the International Business Machine (IBM) Predictive Analytic Software (PASW) version 22 software. The results of this study are transformational and transactional leadership styles have a significant effect on job satisfaction and employee performance. Job satisfaction has a significant effect on employee performance. Transformational leadership style has a significant effect on employee performance through employee job satisfaction. Transactional leadership style has a significant effect on employee performance through employee job satisfaction.
