Anupana (Vehicle) is a substance that is taken, along with or after the intake of Aahara (food) and Aushada (drug). In the context of food, Anupana helps in better digestion, absorption & provides complete nourishment of the body. It brings some changes in the substance along with which it is administered. It also plays a very significant role in treating the diseases & helps the drug to improve efficacy. On review of literature, Anupana has a multidimensional effect; it will act as a nutritive, stimulant, preventive and curative. Keywords: Anupana, Ahara, Ayurveda, adjuvant

In federal criminal cases, federal law requires that judges consider the sentences other courts have imposed in factually similar matters. Courts and parties, however, face significant challenges in finding applicable sentencing precedents because judges do not typically issue written sentencing opinions, and transcripts of sentencings are not readily available in advanced searchable databases. At the same time, particularly since the Supreme Court’s 2005 decision in United States v. Booker, sentencing precedent has come to play a significant role in federal sentencing proceedings. By way of example, this article discusses recent cases involving defendants with gambling addictions, and recent cases involving college admissions or testing fraud. The article explores the ways the parties in those cases have used sentencing precedent in their advocacy, as well as the ways the courts involved have used sentencing precedent to justify their decisions. Given the important role of sentencing precedent in federal criminal cases, the article finally looks at ways in which the body of sentencing law could be made more readily available to parties and courts alike.

In Ayurveda, the concept of Srotas has been propagated very specifically. They are integral part of the body. Body is composed of numerous Srotas which have a significant role in maintenance of equilibrium of body elements. They are responsible for maintenance of health as well as disease condition. Srotas is a channel through which different elements undergo transformation, circulation and transportation. Pathological changes occurs in the body due to Srotodushti, Srotosanga etc.

Muslim youth have been under scrutiny over the last two decades from a radicalisation and countering violent extremism lens. This bias has largely carried itself to research conducted on Muslim youth in the West. This article undertakes a systematic review and analysis of literature conducted on Muslim youth in the West and in Australia in the last two decades since 11 September 2001. The body of literature in this field can be grouped under three main themes: (1) the impact of terrorism policies and discourse on Muslim youth and their disengaged identities, (2) the relationship between religion (Islam) and civic engagement of Muslim youth, and (3) Muslim youth as active citizens. An important conclusion of this review is that most of the research is dated. There have been significant changes in the development of youth as they quickly evolve and adapt. The systematic review of literature exposed a number of gaps in the research: the current literature ignores generic adolescent factors and external social factors other than Islam that also influence Muslim youth; studies that examine both online and traditional activism and volunteering space are needed to understand the dynamics of change and shift; research needs to focus on Muslim youth who were born and raised in Australia rather than focus only on migrant youth; the ways some Muslim youth use their unique sense of identity as Australian Muslims to become successful citizens engaged in positive action is not known; how Muslim youth use avenues other than their faith to express themselves in civic engagement and their commitment to society is underexplored; it is not known the degree to which bonding networks influence the identity formation and transformation of Muslim youth; there is no research done to examine how adult–youth partnership is managed in organisations that successfully integrate youth in their leadership; there is a need to include Australian Muslim youth individual accounts of their active citizenship; there is a need to understand the process of positive Muslim youth transformations as a complement to the current focus on the radicalisation process. Addressing these gaps will allow a more complete understanding of Muslim youth in the West and inform educational and social policies in a more effective manner.

Daylighting strategies and control of it, plays a significant role in energy efficiency and provision of visual comforts in buildings. This study conducted a review of literature and observation in a hot and dry region of Iran in order to investigate daylighting strategies and control of it by shading devices in the vernacular residential buildings. The results show thatdaylight in vernacular rooms was provided through door, window, Rozan, Moshabak, and Goljam. These components were equipped with thevertical and horizontalshading devices such as Orsi, Sarsayeh, Tabeshband and Kharakpoushto control the sunlight. The vernacular lighting strategy was in response to the energy efficiency and provided visual comfort. The vernacular concepts and schemes still can be adopted and reused by architects and developers. The study recommends appropriate daylight schemes and shading devices in design phase to achieve energy efficiency in new residential buildings.

Stenotrophomonas maltophilia peritonitis has been only occasionally reported in patients undergoing continuous ambulatory peritoneal dialysis (CAPD). Because this microorganism has multi-drug resistance, its treatment is hard and long-term. The treatment might not be successful despite all the efforts and the process of peritoneal dialysis, and may terminate with loss of the catheter. In the present paper, S. maltophilia peritonitis developed in a 6-year-old girl patient, who underwent peritoneal dialysis due to bilateral dysplastic kidney, suffered from episodes of peritonitis frequently and required hospitalization, was presented with literature data. Even though the case received multiple antibiotic treatment and underwent endoluminal brushing (EB), the success of treatment could not be achieved. To the best of our knowledge, this patient is the youngest case in the literature.

AbstractNeurocysticercosis is the commonest parasitic disease of the central nervous system and the leading cause of seizure in the developing world. Human cysticercosis is caused by the dissemination of the embryo of Taenia solium in the intestine via the hepatoportal system to the tissues and organs of the body. The organs most commonly affected are the subcutaneous tissues, skeletal muscles, lung, brain, eye, liver, and occasionally the heart, thyroid, and pancreas. Widespread dissemination of the cysticerci can result in the involvement of almost any organ in the body. We report a case of 60 years old male presented with head injury due to fall, which was diagnosed as diffuse parenchymal neurocysticercosis on computed tomography scan of brain. We discuss the radiological feature, diagnostic criteria, management plan, and literature review of such reported cases.

AbstractThe aim of the paper is to investigate the role of dictionary form (paper versus electronic) in language reception, production and retention. The body of existing research does not give a clear answer as to which dictionary medium benefits users more. Divergent findings from many studies into the topic might stem from differences in research methodology (including the various tasks, participants and dictionaries used by different authors). Even a series of studies conducted by one researcher (Dziemianko, 2010, 2011, 2012b) leads to contradictory conclusions, possibly because of the use of paper and electronic versions of existing dictionaries, and the resulting problem with isolating dictionary form as a factor. To be able to argue with confidence that the results obtained follow from different dictionary formats, rather than presentation issues, research methodology should be improved. To successfully generalize about the significance of the medium for decoding, encoding and learning, the current study replicates previous research, but the presentation of lexicographic data on paper and on screen is now balanced, and the paper/electronic opposition is operationalized more appropriately. A real online dictionary and its paper-based counterpart composed of printouts of screen displays were used in the experiment in which the meaning of English nouns and phrases was explained, and collocations were completed with missing prepositions. A delayed post-test checked the retention of the meanings and collocations. The results indicate that dictionary medium does not play a statistically significant role in reception and production, but it considerably affects retention.

The article describes the history, effects and application areas of combined laseropforesis and elec-tromyostimulation methods. The inclusion of physical factors into complex therapeutic measures is quite important in a view of complications of isolated drug therapy. Laseropforesis and electromyostimulation are used in treatment of many pathologies in different areas of medicine. Therapeutic effect is realized by the injected drugs and by laser radiation itself. Application of methods does not only eliminate the major symptoms, but also improves microcirculation in the affected area, and throughout the body. This leads to general improvement of the functional systems of the body and contributes to the formation of different adaptation mechanisms.
