This study aimed to investigate the relationship between coping strategies (positive coping, projective coping, non-coping and denial coping), self-efficacy, and fear of losing one’s self-esteem among secondary school students in science course. The study group consisted of 381 students studying in a large city located in the eastern part of Turkey. The data of the study were obtained using Academic Coping, Self-efficacy, Fear of losing one's self-esteem scales. Data were analyzed with the structural equality model using the Amos program, and the proposed relationships between variables were tested. According to the results obtained from the research, it was found that the positive coping and projective coping strategy predicted positively and the non-coping strategy negatively on self-efficacy. Self-efficacy negatively predicted the fear of losing one’s self-esteem. Additionally, positive coping, denial coping, and non-coping strategies were observed to positively predict the fear of losing one's self-esteem. Additionally, positive coping, projective coping, non-coping, and denial coping strategies variables together explained 28% of the variance in self-efficacy. The self-efficacy and all of the coping strategies explained 48% of the variance in fear of losing one’s self-esteem.

С помощью полученных данных в исследовании выявлена взаимосвязь стратегий преодоления и толерантность к неопределенности учащихся старших классов. Выявлены значимые положительные связи толерантности к неопределенности и стратегий преодоления - например, прямая связь с конструктивной стратегией преодоления «поиск социальной поддержки». Presents the results of empirical a study on coping strategies and tolerance for uncertainty in high school students. Using the data obtained, the study revealed the relationship between coping strategies and tolerance for uncertainty in high school students. Significant positive relationships of tolerance to uncertainty and coping strategies have been identified, for example, a direct relationship with the constructive coping strategy «search for social support».

The aim of this study is in the relationship between peer support and autonomy in adolescents; The aim of this study is to examine the mediating role of social self-efficacy perception, self-esteem and social anxiety variables in adolescents. The study group of the research consists of 462 high school students (237 women and 225 men). Of the students in the study group, 26% (120 people) were in the 9th grade, 28.6% (132 people) were in the 10th grade, 28.1% (130 people) were in the 11th grade and 16.5% ( 76 people) are studying in the 12th grade. Data collection tools used in the study; Adolescent Social Anxiety Scale, Rosenberg Self-Esteem Scale (Short Form), Social Self-Efficacy Perception Scale, Peer Support Scale, Adolescent Autonomy Scale were used. The data were analyzed with Regression-based method and Bootstrap methods. According to the findings obtained from the study, it was observed that as peer support increases in adolescents, individuals' self-esteem and social self-efficacy perceptions increase, and as a result, their autonomy levels increase. In addition, it is seen that the increase in peer support in adolescents decreases the social anxiety of the individuals and thus the level of autonomy increases. In addition, it was found that the established model explained 41% of autonomy in adolescents.

Increasing numbers of students around the world are suffering from mathematics anxiety. The main objective of this study is to investigate the relationship between mathematics anxiety and gender, grade, career choices, and academic achievement in Grade 10, 11, and 12 students. This study used the Revised Version of the Mathematics Anxiety Rating Scale to survey 1,548 high school students (570 males and 978 females) from high schools in Vietnam. A multivariate analysis of variance (MANOVA) test, Pearson correlation and multiple linear regression were used to analyze data. The results show that there are significant differences in the influence of grade, academic achievement, and students’ career choices on mathematics anxiety. Academic coping strategies, gender, grade, and career choices are significant predictors of mathematics anxiety. Grade 12 students have higher levels of mathematics anxiety than others. Students with high average mathematics scores (9.0–10.0) have higher levels of mathematics anxiety than students with lower scores. Besides, students choosing finance and economics or industrial engineering to pursue into higher education also experienced higher levels of mathematics anxiety than others. This study contributes to the general discussion about the nature of mathematics anxiety and the relationship between mathematics anxiety and academic achievement.

This study examined the impact of positive psychological traits (positive coping, self-efficacy, and self-esteem) on the relationship between seizure severity and life satisfaction among individuals with epilepsy. Hierarchical regression analysis and correlation techniques were used to test a hypothesized tri-mediation model of life satisfaction for individuals with epilepsy. Results indicated that seizure severity and positive human traits, including positive coping, self-efficacy, and self-esteem, were indeed associated with overall life satisfaction. Self-efficacy and self-esteem (but not positive coping) fully mediated the relationship between seizure severity and life satisfaction, lending support for a dual-mediation model. These findings suggest there may be considerable value for rehabilitation psychologists and counselors to develop specialized intervention programs that focus on capitalizing these positive human traits to promote life satisfaction and well-being for clients with epilepsy.

Objectives: To explore the effect of social support and ability perception on stress coping strategies for competitive stress, and to reveal the mediating effects of primary and secondary evaluation, so as to further improve the theoretical model of stress coping in soccer players.Methods: A total of 331 male athletes from 22 teams in the Chengdu Middle School Campus Football League were taken as survey samples, and surveys were conducted on their stress experience, social support, ability perception, cognitive assessment, and coping strategies for competition stress. SPSS 21.0 and AMOS 21.0 statistical analysis software were used. Descriptive statistics, correlation analysis, exploratory factor analysis (EFA), and confirmatory factor analysis (CFA) were used to process the obtained data.Results: (1) Positive primary assessment acted as a full mediator in the relationship between social support and secondary assessments, and negative primary assessment acted as a partial mediator in the relationship between competence perception and secondary assessments; (2) Secondary assessment played a partial mediating role between positive primary assessment and positive coping strategies, and a full mediating role between negative primary assessment and positive coping strategies; (3) Secondary assessments played the mediator neither between social support and a coping strategy for stress nor competence perception and a coping strategy for stress; (4) Positive primary assessment, positive negative assessment, and secondary assessment all had significant positive benefits for positive coping. Still, the impact of positive primary assessment on positive coping was significantly better than negative primary assessment and secondary assessment.Conclusion: The coping strategy for the competitive stress model proposed by this study has a very good fit for the causal model. It can be used to explain the observed data from soccer players in middle schools. The primary and secondary assessments play different roles in the model. The combination of problem focuses and emotional focus on the positive stress coping strategy is suitable in the field of competitive sports. Still, the relevant research results need to be further explored and verified in the future.

This study aimed to investigate the relationships among mastery goal orientations (approach and avoidance), adaptive coping strategy (positive coping), and motivational beliefs (self-efficacy and task value) among middle school students in science. The study group consists of 249 students studying at four middle schools in one of the largest cities located in the eastern part of Turkey. The research data were collected using Achievement Goals Questionnaire, Academic Coping Inventory, and the Motivated Strategies for Learning Questionnaire. Structural equation modeling was performed using AMOS program to test the hypothesized relationships among constructs. The results showed that individuals with mastery goal orientation used more positive coping strategies. It was observed that individuals with higher self-efficacy had a higher ratio of using positive coping strategies. In addition, individuals with a high level of motivational beliefs used more mastery goal orientation. Furthermore, while mastery goal orientations positively predicted motivational beliefs and positive coping strategies, positive coping strategy was found to predict positively self-efficacy only. This study was a correlational study, but correlational studies did not help the establishment of a cause-effect (causality) relationship between the variables in question. Experimental studies can be conducted in the future to reveal the causes and effects related to the correlation between the relevant variables.

Summary: The Gudjonsson Compliance Scale (GCS), the COPE Scale, and the Rosenberg Self-Esteem Scale were administered to 212 men and 212 women. Multiple regression of the test scores showed that low self-esteem and denial coping were the best predictors of compliance in both men and women. Significant sex differences emerged on all three scales, with women having lower self-esteem than men, being more compliant, and using different coping strategies when confronted with a stressful situation. The sex difference in compliance was mediated by differences in self-esteem between men and women.
