ABSTRACT Fibroosseous lesions of the jaws, including juvenile ossifying fibroma (JOF), pose diagnostic and therapeutic difficulties due to their clinical, radiological, and histological variability. There are two histological varieties of it, one as psammomatoid type and second as trebacular type; here, we present a trebacular type, which is a rare variety. After the clinical examination, radiological and histological analysis, it was diagnosed as juvenile trebacular ossifying fibroma. Although JOF is an uncommon clinical entity, its aggressive local behavior and high recurrence rate means that it is important to make an early diagnosis, apply the appropriate treatment, and, especially, follow-up the patient over the long term. SummaryBackground/Aim: Our aim is to describe multidisciplinary approach to primary tuberculous lymphadenitis with a case report.Case Report: A 6-year-old boy was referred to İstanbul University, Faculty of Dentistry, Department of Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery with the symptoms of painless extra-oral abscess and lymphadenopathy. The diagnosis of primary tuberculous lymphadenitis was proved by microbiological culture and ultrasound imaging.Conclusions: Combine tuberculosis treatment should be applied and long term follow up is necessary. Excisional biopsy for tissue diagnosis and bacterial examination with culture should be performed for an early diagnosis as a delay in treatment can lead to devastating consequences.

Abstract Background Bladder leiomyomas are rare and benign tumors of the bladder. They account for 0.43% of all bladder tumors, and only 250 cases have been reported in English literature. Based on the size and localization of the lesion, their symptoms vary considerably. Women seem to be more affected, and obstructive symptoms predominate. Surgical treatment is almost always highly effective, leaving a low recurrence rate. Case presentation We present a clinical case of a 52-year old man with macroscopic hematuria and obstructive lower urinary tract symptoms due to a large bladder trigone leiomyoma. CT and MRI showed a well-defined large bladder leiomyoma and cystoscopy established the initial findings. The patient underwent successful transurethral resection of the lesion, and pathology findings confirmed the diagnosis. Conclusions This case report demonstrates that transurethral resection of a large bladder trigone leiomyoma is a feasible and successful procedure. Long term follow-up proves that there is neither scarring distortion of the bladder trigone area nor damage in the ureteral orifices, even though there was a thorough removal of the trigone wall.

Ossifying Fibromyxoid Tumor

A 13-year-old boy who complained rapid swelling on the left side of mandible is presented. Histopathological examination revealed ossifying fibromyxoid tumor (OFMT). OFMT is a rare soft-tissue neoplasm that occurs usually in the subcutaneous tissue of the extremities. Head and neck involvement is relatively rare. In this case, we present the diagnosis, surgical treatment and long-term follow-up of an OFMT due to its unusual site of occurrence. The precise clinical behavior of atypical and malignant types of OFMTs is still unclear. Thus, histopathology report is important, leading surgeon to decide how often and how long to follow-up patient with OFMT.

Oesophageal liposarcomas are particularly rare, accounting for 1.2–1.5% of all gastrointestinal liposarcomas. Surgical resection is the usual treatment. Endoscopic resection is minimally invasive but still controversial. This current case report describes a rare case of a large oesophageal liposarcoma in a 52-year-old male that presented with 10-year history of dysphagia for dry and solid food that was exacerbated by a recent common cold. Thoracoscopic and laparoscopic oesophagectomy was performed. He did not have any dysphagia or dyspnoea 1 week postoperatively. The excised specimen consisted of a polypoid mass measuring 21.0 cm × 5.1 cm. Histological examination confirmed that it was an oesophageal liposarcoma. At 1-year postoperatively, there was no sign of recurrence. Thoracoscopy and laparoscopy can be used to treat large oesophageal masses. Long-term follow-up is required as oesophageal liposarcomas tend to recur.

Lateral palatal synechiae are rare congenital adhesions running from the free borders of the cleft palate to the lateral parts of the tongue or the oral cavity floor, typically found in cleft palate lateral synechiae syndrome. We present a case of congenital lateral palatal synechia associated with a cleft palate that we treated and followed up for 10 years. We present the long-term prognosis. We also discuss variations in intraoral synechiae associated with cleft palate and the etiology of lateral palatal synechiae through a literature review.
