Nigeria suffers conflicts whose causes are pinned on ethnic consciousness and factors other than culture. As such, culture is considered as an epiphenomenon. But at the base of Nigerian conflicts is culture which shapes and stirs ethnic consciousness, and remains a divisive factor in human societies. Thus, Nigeria is socio-politically polarized along cultural lines and conflicting cultural contents despite the present world of traversing cultural boundaries. This paper analytically exposes culture as the socio-political base of ethnic consciousness and conflicts in Nigeria, and reveals the philosophical foundation of cultural character as well as axiological panacea to conflicts in Nigeria. The paper finds that in every socio-political setting, ethnic consciousness does not happen in a vacuum, and nobody speaks and acts from nowhere but from a cultural orientation; for culture is the matrix of human existence and nothing happens outside it. As such, ethnic consciousness and human socio-political exercises; behaviours, dispositions and actions are shaped, posited, viewed and interpreted from cultural spaces. But to bridle the negative impact of culture and enhance national unity, consciousness and patriotism of the citizenry, the study concludes that there is need for a national culture that is replete with indigenous values and overlapping similarities to form the content of curriculum in Nigerian education system.

The author proves that the successful stability of independent Slovenia contributed to a number of factors, existing since its being incorporated in the SFRY. The factor, uniting the state has become the common goal – the aspiration to join the EU. The process of the European integration contributed to the modernization of a number of spheres, in particular social, cultural and economic ones. The global financial and economic crisis has revealed the turmoil in the economy of the state and its leadership was forced to gradually reduce a significant part of social privileges for the population. This caused the tension in the society and reduced the level of the national unity, having a negative impact on people’s wellbeing. However, since 2014, the Prime Minister M. Cherar has been trying to restore people’s trust in the state. The situation is getting better; indicators of trust in government are increasing, which also points to state capacity and political regime stability in Slovenia. Keywords: Slovenia, state stability, social sphere, government

The background of the contemporary Macedonian “antiquization” can be found in the nineteenth century and the myth of ancient descent among Orthodox Slavic speakers in Macedonia, adopted partially due to Greek cultural inputs. The idea of Ancient Macedonian nationhood has also been included in the national mythology during the Yugoslav era. An additional factor for its preservation has been the influence of the Macedonian Diaspora. After independence, attempts to use myth of ancient descent had to be abandoned due to political pressure by Greece. Contemporary antiquization on the other hand, has been revived as an efficient tool for political mobilization. It is manifested as a belated invention and mass-production of tradition, carried out through the creation of new ceremonies, interventions in the public space and dissemination of mythological and metaphysical narratives on the origin of the nation. There have also been attempts to scientifically rationalize claims to ancient nationhood. On the political level, the process of antiquization reinforced the political primacy of its promoters, the ruling Internal Macedonian Revolutionary Organization – Democratic Party for Macedonian National Unity (VMRO-DPMNE), but had a negative impact on the interethnic relations and the international position of the country.

The article is dedicated to the integrative essence of the language personality of a representative of the Ukrainian school of literary translation Ivan Babych. It is pointed out that I. Babych, as a person of European culture whose native land was France, was the disseminator of its fundamental values in Ukraine. At the same time, he promoted national culture, the Ukrainian word in French-speaking countries. Two cultural spaces have determined the specific function of intercultural mediation, in the context of which the linguistic personality of the master of literary translation should be considered.

Abstract Background Hypersexuality is associated with many psychiatric disorders and creates enormous burden for the affected individual, family and society. There are numerous inventories measuring behavioral, emotional or stressful features of hypersexuality, we still need a structure-validated questionnaire to measure hypersexuality in a comprehensive way. Methods Based on previous inventories and related clinical descriptions of hypersexuality, we designed a matrix of 72 items related to hypersexual experience, and we invited 282 heterosexual university students who experienced hypersexuality at least once life-long to answer the matrix. Results Through exploratory factor analyses and exploratory structural equation modeling, we constructed a Hypersexuality Scale, with a satisfactory model structure of five factors (or scales, 4 items for each scale) of hypersexuality, and named them as the Negative Impact, Emotional Coping, Uncontrolled Behavior, Post-sex Regret, and Increased Interest. Most inter-correlations of these factors were significant but in low or medium levels in all participants. Male students scored significantly higher on Negative Impact and Increased Interest than females did. Conclusions The five scales described in this study might help to understand hypersexuality, and the Hypersexuality Scale might be applied to the clinical conditions related to hypersexuality.

In this paper, we examine the impact of investors’ attention to COVID-19 on stock market returns and the moderating effect of national culture on this relationship. Using daily data from 34 countries over the period 23 January to 12 June 2020, and measuring investors’ attention with the Google search volume (GSV) of the word “coronavirus” for each country, we find that investors’ enhanced attention to the COVID-19 pandemic results in negative stock market returns. Further, measuring the national culture with the uncertainty avoidance index (the aspect of national culture which measures the cross-country differences in decision-making under stress and ambiguity), we find that the negative impact of investors’ attention on stock market returns is stronger in countries where investors possess higher uncertainty avoidance cultural values. Our findings imply that uncertainty avoidance cultural values of investors promote financial market instability amid the crisis.

Cardinal Stefan Wyszynski in Defense of the Rights of the Nation The impulse to refer to the personal exemplar of Primate Stefan Cardinal Wyszyński and his teachings about the nation and family are the tendencies of moral relativism present in social life, resulting from the belief that only effectiveness and practical usefulness determine what is true and what is good. Seeing in this the threat of a return to „the only right and true doctrine”, which in truth is no longer the ideology of Marxism-Leninism, but destructive views opposing national culture, I consider it justified to recall one of the most outstanding Poles of the 20th century, for whom the good of Poland and Poles were the primary defense of human rights and the right of the nation to independence and justice. He tried to bring to light those values inherent in the nation that could effectively resist these growing threats. These defenses were cited as particularly valuable for the life of the nation and the Church in a totalitarian state that is striving to objectify and incapacitate the individual. However, faith combined with the morality of the Nation formed by the Church contributed to the maintenance of national unity and allowed it to survive in the conditions of communist restrictions. In order to release the Nation from the supremacy of communist ideology, the Primate of the Millennium did not hesitate to confront this system. Even his arrest and imprisonment did not discourage him from serving God and the Homeland. His nobility of heart, bravery of spirit and determination to defend the rights of the nation made him a hero who will not be forgotten!

The question of the functioning of the ethnocultural tradition in the post-colonial period is considered, which is a significant factor in the unification of the Ukrainian nation. The article focuses on the fact that folk art, namely the manufacturing and embroidery of a towel, is an embodiment of the ideals of folk thinking and ideological foundations, where symbols-amulets of our people are coded for many centuries. Attention is drawn to the peculiarity and widespread use of a towel as an amulet to many ritual acts of family and calendar ceremonies. The organizational measures and carrying out of modern cultural projects in independent Ukraine, which prompt the revival of folk traditions in the post-colonial period, are explored. A vivid example was the All-Ukrainian cultural and artistic, sociopolitical project "Towel of national unity" as a consolidating factor for uniting Ukrainian society. The role of the handmade artwork (more than one and a half thousand masters were attached to the manufacturing and embroidery of a towel) was evaluated in the awakening of national consciousness and patriotism. It was noted that the citizens and representatives of the Ukrainian diaspora, people of different nationalities and religious denominations, men and women of all ages, and even children, participated in this cultural and patriotic action. All participants of the cultural activity united one goal - to create a guard for Ukraine "Towel of national unity". This Towel can really be called the symbol of Ukraine's unification, because this is a self-organized cultural event, aimed to unite and indivisible all regions of our state, uniting of Ukrainians both in Ukraine and abroad. It is shown on a concrete example how people can unite around the idea, show their creativity, opportunities and realize it in life. It is proved that the ethno-cultural heritage of Ukrainians undoubtedly influences the development of the national culture and supports the ethno-cultural policy aimed at uniting Ukrainian society.

The study provides information on the features of strategic management at water supply and sewerage enterprises, which consists of creating long-term strategies in various areas of the enterprise's activities. A resource-supplying enterprise is a complex multifunctional production and economic system that is aimed at providing the city's population with water supply and sanitation services, as well as focused on the interests of the consumer. It is possible to achieve the main goals of the enterprise only with the construction of long-term goals and assessment of development prospects. The study provides an analysis of the weaknesses and strengths in the course of the activities of the enterprise SUE "Vodokanal of St. Petersburg" and reflects its long-term goals and assesses the prospects for achieving these goals and objectives. Further, the article reflects the matrix of prospects for building complex strategies that allow you to evaluate and plan the activities of the water supply and sewerage enterprise. The article was prepared as part of the author's dissertation research. Strategic guidelines and, in particular, the matrix contains the main elements of the organization's activities, which include: the general direction of the enterprise's activity, interaction along the "consumer" – "enterprise" chain, production, social, environmental strategies of the organization's activities, investment and tariff strategies. In summary, the presented mechanism reflects the fact that the water supply and sewerage enterprise will develop in the direction of reducing the negative impact on the environment, the ways of innovative development of the enterprise, the enterprise also plans to receive investments from external sources and allocate internal financing for development and projects within the organization. Considerable attention will be paid to the development of production processes, i.e. reduce losses and costs, the most efficient use of enterprise resources, improve the quality of provided services. Special attention will be paid to the field of "working with consumers", which will improve communication between employees of the enterprise and direct subscribers of the organization. Thus, the water supply and sewerage enterprise has prospects in the development of its activities, but the beneficial development depends on external and internal factors and the correct construction of a system of strategic guidelines.

Sea transportation is one of the cheapest and most widespread types of cargo transportation, and the process of fouling of the vessel’s hull has an extremely negative impact on its maneuverability and running characteristics. This leads to excessive consumption of fuel, an increase in the cost of delivery of goods and environmental risks. Namely, when additional fuel is burned, the emission of the greenhouse gas CO2 increases. Considering the accompanying environmental risks in the long-term planning of the shipbuilding industry will ensure the sustainability of its development. In the study we suggest a simple way to assess quantitatively the development strategy of shipbuilding from the point of view of the accompanying economic and environmental consequences by constructing a matrix model for the industry development. The matrix model was applied to the Strategy for Development of the Shipbuilding Industry in Russia until 2035. In the future, on the basis of the offered model, it is possible to develop optimal environmentally neutral scenarios for shipbuilding development.
