Based on the manual transmission of a micro car, this paper would present the analysis of the factors affecting the transmission efficiency (TE) and the calculation formula of TE. Accordingly, the calculation model of Matlab/Simulink TE would be built to figure out how TE varies with input torque. Meanwhile, a set of manual transmission test bench would be designed and used to verify the theoretical simulation results. It adopts a common DC bus energy feedback closed system which can feedback the power generated by the load motor to the grid through the DC bus so as to save the electricity and produce less pollution. Therefore, while the test bench can reflect the variation trend of TE about the manual transmission truly, it is comparatively reliable. Apart from being energy-saving, its unique versatility could definitely predict its exceptional potential. The data of TE obtained from the test bench are compared with the simulation result. It showed that the TE of bench test and simulation result are similar, though companied by less than 2% error difference which is within the allowable range. Most importantly, the bench test results proved the validity of the theoretical analysis statistically, which is of great necessity and significance to the research of TE.

An overview of the principal schemes and designs of testing tools for handheld impact machines, such as riveting hammers, is given. The formation of a bench test method for riveting hammers is considered, which most objectively reproduces the real work of a manual machine when processing an object with a riveting hammer, including with the help of support. Keywords: hand-held machine, riveting hammer, support, test bench, test procedure, processed package, rivet, characteristics of hand-held machine. [email protected]

There are two basic types of transmissions — manual and automatic. While manual transmissions have greater transmission efficiency and better overall driving experience, it is difficult and not as easy to handle as automatic transmissions mainly due to the presence of the clutch pedal. Automatic transmissions make life are a lot easier to operate but are less efficient. So, the aim of this project is to take the best of both worlds and combine it in one i.e. the experience of driving a manual with the ease of an automatic. For this, the intention is to use a pressure sensor to detect when the gears have to be changed and automatically disengage the clutch, hence removing the need for the clutch pedal.

In this study, the influence of a variety of operating conditions on the power losses and efficiency of an automotive manual transmission was investigated experimentally. An experimental methodology was developed to measure power losses of a manual transmission under both loaded and unloaded conditions while all operation parameters were controlled tightly. A set of fixtures and instrumentation were designed and implemented to apply the experimental methodology to a five-speed, manual transmission from a front-wheel-drive passenger vehicle. Experimental parametric studies were performed to quantify the influence of operating conditions including load, oil viscosity and oil volume on load-dependent (mechanical) and load-independent (spin) power losses of the transmission. Analysis of the power loss data revealed that all three of these parameters influenced the components of the transmission power loss significantly, and specific conclusions were drawn in order to aid attempts to increase overall transmission efficiency. The experimental database formed as a result of this study is extensive so as to allow a complete validation of transmission power loss models.

ABSTRACTThe transmission to be developed in this research a manual transmission type synchromesh which will be combined with the addition of replacement clutch in the form of cone. From the research of electric vehicles that have been carried out still retain the use of manual transmission for changing from conventional vehicles fuels oil by replacing the engine with a motor as a driver. This research was conducted to design synchromesh system on manual transmission which allows gearshift done without reduction of torque in one axis so as to produce gear shifting that does not experience slowing of vehicle to improve motor efficiency in electric vehicle. The mathematical model for the propulsion system is developed using the Matlab / Simulink software package, where the throttle engine angle and the power draw synchronously as a control signal to adjust the synchromesh in shifting then simulate, process and compare to obtain the effectiveness value of the control algorithm . The designs that have been made will be tested to obtain the optimal value of the transmission performance that has been designed. The simulation image of the development of the shift in the development manual transmission uses dynamic models of external and internal linkage, synchronization and drivetrain output.

Insights into the mechanical and microstructural status of biological soft tissues are fundamental in analyzing diseases. Biaxial traction is the gold standard approach for mechanical characterization. The state of the art methods for microstructural assessment have different advantages and drawbacks. Small angle light scattering (SALS) represents a valuable low energy technique for soft tissue assessment. The objective of the current work was to develop a bench test integrating mechanical and microstructural characterization capabilities for tissue specimens. The setup’s principle is based on the integration of biaxial traction and SALS analysis. A dedicated control application was developed with the objective of managing the test procedure. The different components of the setup are described and discussed, both in terms of hardware and software. The realization of the system and the corresponding performances are then presented.

In order to calculate the efficiency of an automotive manual transmission, taking into consideration the effect of its most power consuming components – gears and bearings – as well as the interactions between them is of high importance. In this paper, a dynamic model has been developed which can predict the frictional losses of a complete gearbox as a system and, thus, its efficiency. The effect of temperature on bearing preload is also considered and taken into account from a system perspective identifying its effect on the bearings frictional losses (as well as the overall efficiency). The operating conditions used are snapshots of the Real Driving Emissions driving cycle, which is a standard metric for automotive manufacturers. Results show that doubling the temperature can lead to 120% increase of the bearing losses and up to 140% increase of the total transmission losses. The effect of the variation of operating conditions (velocity and torque) is also taken into account. The novelty of this paper lays in the development of a dynamic model which takes into account the performance of a complete gearbox under transient operating conditions, as well as the interaction among its main components and the ability to make changes on the influencing factors of transmission efficiency so that their effect on the complete gearbox efficiency can be tracked. This has not been yet reported in the relevant literature which mainly focuses on the influencing factors of transmission power loss and efficiency experimental measurements under various operating conditions for gear pairs instead of complete gearboxes.
