General anesthesia as used for rodent research can have adverse effects on physiologic mechanisms. Thermoregulation is often greatly inhibited, with resultant deleterious effects on cardiac and respiratory function. These potential effects can be mitigated by providing external heat support. The circulating warm water blanket and associated heat pump are often used in rodent procedures. The current study demonstrated that the heating pump and water blanket require quality control assessment to ensure adequate function. Our data showed that of the 6 pumps tested, 5 were able to achieve a temperature thatmet or exceeded the documented thermoneutral zone for mice. Pumps required 20 min of warming to reach their maximal attainable temperatures for the designated user setting. Although the pumps reached a temperature that was sufficient toprovide external thermal support, only 1 of the 6 pumps reached the temperature that was set by the user during the trial.Surface temperatures across the water blanket were recorded to analyze whether a difference in heat support was influencedby animal placement along the water blanket; however, the location points did not yield statistically different results. Two pumps were eliminated from the study due to failure to pass the preparation phase of the trial. The results of this studysupport the need for facilities to establish quality control measures to ensure that heat support systems are functioning at a level required to maintain normothermia during anesthetic procedures.

On the base of the model S–T projection of S–T–P surface for FeRh alloy one of the possible of the heat pump cycles type is drawn up: with acquisition by the alloy the heat from external heat source. Corresponding efficiency of these cycle as functions of temperature at various differences between initial and final temperatures (permanent thermal load ΔT) and as a function of pressure at various differences between initial and final temperatures are analyzed. It is found, particularly, that within the temperature range (320 – 370) K and pressure range (0.4 – 1.0)∙109 Pa efficiency of the heat-pump cycles takes the values from the interval from 30 to 35. These values are comparable to those found recently with using the tensile stress up to ψ = 1∙109 Pa and with using the magnetic field up to H = 2∙106 A/m.

This article describes how heat pumps (HP) integrated in air handling units (AHU) proud against the analogous AHU with external heat pumps. Two almost identical (except heat pump position) air handling units were analysed. During the experimental study supply and return air temperatures and AHU’s fans power were measured. Efficiency indicators and consumed energy were calculated based on measured data. Seasonal performance factor (SCOP) and total annual energy use was evaluated for both units. During the economical evaluation was found, that AHU with integrated HP can payback within 10 years compared with AHU combined with external heat pump. Santrauka Straipsnyje nagrinėjama, kiek šilumos siurbliai, integruoti į oro ruoštuvus, yra pranašesni už analogiškus išorinius šilumos siurblius. Nagrinėjami du realiomis sąlygomis veikiantys analogiški oro ruoštuvai – vienas su integruotu, o kitas su išoriniu šilumos siurbliu. Tyrimo metu išmatuotos šių įrenginių rodiklių vertės, lemiančios jų energinį naudingumą, tokios kaip oro temperatūra ir vartojama energija. Tam, kad galima būtų nustatyti sezoninį įrenginių efektyvumą (SCOP), šie rodikliai pagal LST EN14825:2016 buvo matuojami esant skirtingai aplinkos temperatūrai. Nustatyti išvestiniai efektyvumo rodikliai bei, remiantis standartu, apskaičiuotas abiejų įrenginių šilumos siurblių efektyvumas. Lyginant pradinių investicijų ir šildymo sezono energijos kaštų skirtumus, įvertintas oro ruoštuvų su integruotais šilumos siurbliais ekonominis naudingumas.
