The public health protection authorities in the Czech Republic report a rise in cases of viral hepatitis A (HAV) since the end of May 2008. In total, as many as 602 HAV cases have been reported in 2008 until the end of calendar week 39 (28 September).

The article is devoted to the issues of mandatory judicial control over acts of subjects endowed with state powers in the field of medical activity. In particular, we consider the judicial and administrative practice of resolving administrative legal disputes in connection with instituting administrative action in the field of public health protection. The current Code of Administrative Judicial Procedure (CAJP) of the Russian Federation combines the legal procedures previously included in separate regulatory acts for judicial control in the mandatory treatment of people suffering from mental illness, the active form of tuberculosis, as well as other diseases, the list of which remains open.

The widespread respiratory transmission of the Covid-19 virus has taught us the importance of face masks to mitigate both the community spread of the virus and protection of wearers by face masks.  As such, there could be an extremely adverse public health possibility where respiratory pathogenic agents could be spread as a means of bioterrorism.  While eventually vaccines could mitigate wide spread infection, protective face masks are an important way to immediately   prevent respiratory infections from various pathogenic agents.  In view of the possibility of respiratory-based bioterrorism it is critical that the public might have to adopt universal usage of face masks.  The CDC recommends that all families stockpile respiratory protection as part of their personal pandemic plan because face masks should be worn by all individuals during a pandemic especially one caused by bioterrorism.

The article examines organizational and legal problems related to state registration, production, procurement and use of medical devices for first aid. The study significance is accounted for by the need to find solutions to problems related to equipping first aid activities with medical devices, which is becoming extremely important for the modern Russian society. Moreover, a comprehensive study of these issues has not been undertaken so far. The purpose of the study is to develop a set of proposals of an organizational and legal nature to improve quality of medical devices for first aid and equipping all potential participants of first aid delivery with such devices. To eliminate the problem of low equipment of potential participants of first aid delivery with the means of delivery, the composition of first-aid kits, packs, sets, and packages for all categories of participants have to be approval by the Ministry of Health of the Russian Federation. The authors also propose organizational and legal measures to improve interdepartmental and intradepartmental cooperation in this direction with the Russian Ministry of Health playing the coordinating role. The authors have also identified the need for improving the procedure for state registration of the production of first aid devices either though amending the Federal Law "On the Basics of Public Health Protection in the Russian Federation" regarding the provision that first-aid kits, packs, sets, and packages equipped with medical devices registered in the prescribed manner are not subject to state registration. As an alternative, the authors propose amendments and additions to the Rules of the state registration of medical devices, providing for a simplified state registration of first-aid kits, packs, sets, and packages. In addition, the authors name arguments in favor of improving the clinical trial procedure for first aid medical devices and propose changes to Article 38 of the Federal Law “On the Basics of Public Health Protection in the Russian Federation” in terms of eliminating the problems of legal techniques in the definition of the term “medical device” regarding first aid. Upgradation and advancement in every field related to mankind leads to the origin of a contaminated environment. Development in science and technology enabled humans to combat the rate of contaminants by using biological agents, commonly known as bioremediation. The chapter deals with the different species of bioremediation agents viz. bacteria, fungi, algae, plants, animals and organic wastes to treat diverse environmental pollution. The extent of environmental bioremediation encompasses inorganic viz. arsenic, chromium, mercury, cyanide etc. and organics viz. Hydrocarbons, petroleum, pesticides etc. Thus, the reasons for the control of water and soil by considering bioremediation are concern on public health, protection of environment, and cost reduction of decontamination. Different case studies have been demonstrated herein to understand the enigmatic process and evaluate practical efficacy of the environment to decontaminate itself by the presence of various biological organisms.

The number of people who have limited access to high-quality water has increased, and while this is a growing global crisis, water issues, problems and solutions are often seen as localised. Water reuse and reclamation will play a significant role in achieving sustainability and public health protection in the future. The wastewater and reuse community should be responsible for monitoring sewage impacts and improvements as demonstrated through pathogen reduction with appropriate treatment. Viruses, Cryptosporidium and Giardia can all be reduced during treatment anywhere from 99% to 99.9999%, achieving drinking water quality, if so desired. Recommendations to achieve better access to scientific information for decision making include: 1) developing a global data base for biological contaminant loading from wastewater and 2) defining the public health protection via reuse and reclamation.
