Highly significant genetic resources of matoa potentially for breeding program in Papua are being threatened as a result of cutting down trees for fruit harvesting and of forest exploitation for timber. Besides the loss of genetic resources facing now, other major problems should be consider for conservation and domestication of this fruit tree species i.e. lack of silviculture and agronomy knowledge for further breeding programs; matoa production only for local market; and inadequate government policy for matoa breeding program. Strategy developed for matoa conservation and domestication should also concern about time limited due to the fast loss of genetic poll. This paper provides a general overview of strategy for conservation and domestication of <em>Pometia pinnata</em> with special reference to Papua.</p>

Literacy-activity behavior, the behavior of doing literacy activities (i.e.,reading and writing), is very important for students in the completion of theirstudy, their advancement into a higher level of formal education, their preparationfor entrance into the world of work, and their life-long education in society.Therefore, such behavior needs to be developed in students at school.As an effort to develop it in a planned, systematic, and serious way, aprogram, strategy, and supporting facility for the development of senior highschool students’ literacy-activity behavior based on scientific activities with anappeal and reliability already tested through developmental research have beendeveloped.Through empiric try-out and conceptual validation, the program, strategy,and supporting facility have been found to be capable of attracting students’interest and at the same time sufficiently reliable in improving students’awareness, motivation, skill, and fondness of doing literacy activities at schoolKeywords: literacy, literacy-activity behavior, development of literacy activitybehavior

Learning the Quran is regarded as an essential activity in Muslim world in order to educate their young generations. However, in Aceh Besar district, many children and teenagers are not accustomed to reciting the Quran after the sunset prayer, but instead wandering around the street. Therefore, in 2012, the local government initiated a program of Beut al-Quran Ba’da Magrib in all villages in Aceh Besar district. This study attempted to figure out the effectiveness of the implementation of the program, strategy used, and impacts on the people in Aceh Besar. Held in Aceh Besar district, the study used cluster-based purposive sampling in Banda Safa, Lamcot, and Meunasah Karieng Lamlhom villages. The research participants were the Head of Islamic Law Office of Aceh Besar, teungku (Islamic teachers) of the program, santri (students) of the program, and community figures. In addition, the researcher had also collected some important documents reagrading this program. The data were collected by interview, observation, and documentation. The data were also triangulated. The findings indicated that the implementation of Beut al-Quran Ba’da Magrib program was not effective as expected. The strategy used was requiring school aged children to take part in the program. The impacts, however, were very good as the program has induced positive spirit of the young learners, as well as of the community and local environment. The positive impacts have encouraged other villages to implement similar programs. Nevertheless, there were still some obstacles that need to attention during the implementation of the program.

Photographic spectrographic calculations of intensity ratios and the corresponding element concentrations are performed faster and more accurately with programmable desk calculators than by graphical methods. These calculations are facilitated by applying a transform to microphotometer transmittance readings to make them linear with respect to intensity. This transform has the form log [{(100 – T)/ T} {(a + T)/ T}] where a is the transform constant and T is percent transmittance. A FORTRAN computer program strategy is given for calculating the transform constant from emulsion calibration data and obtaining a linear equation for the emulsion calibration curve. This equation is used to program a desk calculator to convert transmittance readings to intensity ratios corrected for background. A second calculator program computes element concentrations from the intensity ratios.
